I've noticed a trend of videogames increasingly resembling milking machines.

So basically they want to remake Pox Nora? :P

[edit]

Nevermind. Read the rest of the kickstarter. They want to make a dumbed down version of pox nora.

Bleh. I didn't give them a dime because they clearly don't know how to get shit done. But on the flipside, I'd totally buy that game on release if it was even halfway decent. So conflicted....

Brain cancer certainly won't make the game better.

EDIT: that sounded a bit asshole'ish.
Hmmm. I mean it's hardly positive in terms of game development. It's a long process and a brain tumor is not exactly a light condition.

Ok, now it's clear what's hampering the Star Command teams productivity

It looks amazing. From concept to pixel art to animations to screenshots of interface, research and so on. Absolutely amazing. They have however clearly spend the dough on blow and hookers. I doubt this will be made but I really hope it will. And for that tiny glimmer of hope I pledged 25. Stupid? Likely but fuck it, I'm a romantic.

Plus, hey, this is the game I imagined playing in a few years after getting my hands on awesome stuff like Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday, Starflight II, Star Control II, Sundog, Megatreveller and Elite. I want my youth dream back.

Total Annihilation... In space?

Could be pretty awesome actually, but I'm afraid something like that is really hard to balance satisfactorily. But even if the multiplayer doesn't work it's a fun concept to just mess around in singleplayer with the meteor and planet crashing stuff. I didn't really like how TA -> SupCom upped the scale either, the base TA mechanics are excellent but I never felt the games main strength was the endgame with lots of units, which this aims for too.
Curious about the interface too, how will you display minimap for example?

Featuring people who've worked on original TA, SupCom, C&C, and so on. Asking for 900k.
And pretty far in development judging by the video, delivery marked to 7/2013.

I'm afraid the $900k game projects ship has sailed. Unless, of course, you are a developer with the right connections, or reputation. i.e. make a god damn kickstarter already, Obsidian.

If it keeps the current pace, it will be. 35k in 5 hours so far.
I think 5 hours is too early to make an estimate. Maybe they had their relatives and stuff lined up for when it went online.

Interesting, nonetheless. I hope they make it.

EDIT: Took the time to actually watch the video.
As long as they get the media outlets to report on it, I think they have a good chance.
