The remnants of King Cadeyrn holed themselves in Viroconium. It's autumn, our armies have exhausted their movement points. We must wait next year.

02.jpg

As Darth Roxor recommended, I shall begin research on all manners of disaster prevention to keep the Kingdom from ruin. Floods, Epidemics, Dry seasons should be a thing of the past after next year's research is over.

Sir Balin has maxed his Dragon's Breath and will now invest in Enchanted Weapons.
03.jpg

This should add additional punch to his Marauder charge.

Sir Gareth will max out his Curse of Shadows. No archer units will survive its assault now.
04.jpg

Our stronghold will build a storehouse to increase food output.

05.jpg

And a keep should push our Tyrant rating further.
06.jpg

Eventually I want to add a Torture Chamber to convert my heroes to Tyrants.

The advisers predicts an ample season ahead. We should still keep losses to a minimum, but at the moment we have decent surplus. Still not enough to maintain another army, though.
07.jpg

Once the winter is over, the battle begins once more.
08.jpg

This is an interesting map.
10.jpg

Two river crossings with five VPs. Three on the defender's side, two on the attacker's side.

We'll definitely capture the two VPs on our side with no problem, but we cannot use this particular crossing. The Lightning Bolt VP is across the stream. I despise losing men this way. We'll have to cross the southern crossing.

11.jpg

Sir Gareth unleashes his powerful Curse.

13.jpg

And eliminated one archer unit. Sir Kay and the archers plus infantry will hold the northern crossing. Sir Balin, Ywain and Gareth will take the Cavalry down south.

14.jpg

After the second archer unit was eliminated, the enemy showed no interest in contesting the southern crossing VP. Gareth and the other knights crossed the river unchallenged.

16.jpg

Sensing that they may return, Sir Kay's archers moved southwards along the river to strike...but suddenly the sky grew dark.
17.jpg

The enemy has cast Nightfall.
18.jpg

We couldn't fire even though we could spot several of them across the lake. Even ranged spells would not work. Thankfully, Sir Gareth's Dragon Eye nullifies all that. Sir Ywain's Lightning Bolt cracked the enemy columns, signalling Sir Kay's archers to fire.

19.jpg

Our forces are on both sides of the river. Sir Kay's archers makes use of the Dragon's Eye to rain arrows at the enemy. While Balin and his cavalry detachment with Sir Ywain hides in the forest on the opposite side of the river.

20.jpg

The enemy chose to cross the river, bypassing Balin's forces. They will die in a watery grave. Sir Balin would not be ignored, however, and struck a Light cavalry unit that managed to cross the river with Dragon's Breath. Sir Kay's archers mopped up the remnants.

21.jpg

Whatever that is left of the enemy is still knee deep in waters, Sir Ywain pressed the advantage with a second Lightning Bolt.

22.jpg

Their morale collapsed, Viroconium is ours!

23.jpg

24.jpg

25.jpg

This artifact isn't that bad, but I'd rather keep +2 leadership and +5 movement banner on Sir Kay. This artifact will make a good trading item when there's a merchant event going on.

king.jpg
And so with that victory, our latest war has ended. We can breath a little easier.

kay.jpg
What of Merlin, milord?

king.jpg
Patience, Sir Kay. I have news of a strange hermit in Harrow Hill, he claims he has seen a terrible vision. I want you to investigate.

bal.jpg
Ramblings of a mad man?

king.jpg
Perhaps he will help us overcome a greater threat, who knows really? We live in strange times.

ywa.jpg
Milord is both wise and mighty. It pays to listen to rumors and strange tales in the countryside for the Old Faiths never truly die.

gar.jpg
We've seen the Sidhe, Sir Ywain.

ywa.jpg
I look forward to meeting them.

bal.jpg
Bring some iron swords before you do. Those faeries aren't too friendly.

kay.jpg
Enough. Let us go.

26.jpg

27.jpg

28.jpg

kay.jpg
Where is this Ambrose?

29.jpg

kay.jpg
Hmmmm....

30.jpg

kay.jpg
*slaps the boy* Speak.

31.jpg

kay.jpg
An ambush...now that I know of it, it's not much of an ambush is it?

32.jpg

33.jpg

kay.jpg
Come, cowards!

34.jpg

kay.jpg
Huff, puff...maybe next time I should let Balin do this instead...

35.jpg

36.jpg

kay.jpg
I am in no mood to pay some arrogant monks for their trinkets. I suppose I could sneak inside at night.

37.jpg

kay.jpg
Simple!

38.jpg

kay.jpg
Escape a robbery, only to encounter a pickpocket. Sigh. *Draws sword* Listen. I'll let you keep the Crystal ball or I'll pay, listen to what you have to say, then kill you to take back the gold.

39.jpg

kay.jpg
Once again, the Sidhe is involved. We have no time to lose then!

40.jpg

gar.jpg
By the gods! Your armor is soaked in blood! What happened to you?

kay.jpg
Just an ambush. I survived, that's all that mattered.

bal.jpg
How did it go?

kay.jpg
The Sidhe is involved. We need to search the road from Tamwell to Northhampton since it's his last known whereabouts.

gar.jpg
Not again.

ywa.jpg
I fear we may be encountering the Unseelie of the Sidhe.

bal.jpg
You can stay if you are afraid, Gareth.

gar.jpg
I think not. I think I deserve some payback.

kay.jpg
Then let us leave at once.

Another year, another rebellion to put down in one of our own provinces. We're still in pursuit of the Hermit. But the kingdom's stability takes precedence.

01.jpg

02.jpg

This map features two river crossings. But the defenders have 4 VP against the attacker's 3 on their side of the river. There's no damaging VP here, but the Guard Tower can grant Cloud of Arrows spell for extra firepower.

03.jpg

The fight begins with our fastest units securing all three VP on our side of the river. Then we pick one crossing to assault. Sir Gareth unleashes Curse of Shadows on a stack of archer.

04.jpg

The rebel leader puts up a magical barrier.

05.jpg

It is of no consequence, we waited till it's down and rained both lightning and the curse once more.

06.jpg

Then we begin the assault.

07.jpg

At the same time, the rebels crossed the southern crossing. We're in a race of some sort for VPs.

08.jpg

We punched through the heavy infantry and crossed the river without any incident.

09.jpg

10.jpg

The enemy has captured one of our VP, luckily we've secured the village across to offset the loss.

11.jpg

Sir Balin starts a rampage against the small forces they left behind, while Gareth makes his way to the southeastern VP.

12.jpg

Enemy archers attempts to mount a counteroffence. But found themselves under spell bombardments instead.

13.jpg

Our archers used the window of opportunity to setup an ambush near the Village.

14.jpg

The oncoming rebel forces were killed without any major losses.

15.jpg

We've successfully traded sides on the river and gained more in the end. They've lost most of their forces and holds less VP than us.

16.jpg

Victory is achieved.

17.jpg

Nice artifact gained.

18.jpg

Rank 2 Slow is pretty effective if you consider the 800m distance and minimal mana cost. I equip Sir Ywain with it.

19.jpg

With the rebel forces crushed, we can now proceed to Northhampton to search for the missing Hermit.

bal.jpg
I should go!

kay.jpg
No, Balin. You stay with the army. We can't get any closer without alerting them. I want to do this quietly.

gar.jpg
Take care, Sir Kay. We await your return.

20.jpg

kay.jpg
Let's see what kind of army they're assembling...

21.jpg

kay.jpg
Humans? Are they willing soldiers or slaves? I better stay hidden for now...

22.jpg

kay.jpg
So that's how they get in! I better find a lone soldier to rob, let's check that Black Dome to the south.

23.jpg

kay.jpg
Better do this quietly.

24.jpg

25.jpg

kay.jpg
Let's hope this works.

26.jpg

Notice that the option is highlighted in green. In general, most quest options has stat attributes to successfully execute it. Adventure plays a part in stealth or thievery, Fight enables violence, Magic enables spell-solutions to quests.

kay.jpg
I'm not going to waste time looking for someone in this unfamiliar building, I have to question one of them.

27.jpg

28.jpg

kay.jpg
Alright, down I go.

29.jpg

kay.jpg
Not confident on my combat skills, I'm no Balin. Better try for ambush.

30.jpg

31.jpg

32.jpg

33.jpg

kay.jpg
The stone is magical?

34.jpg

kay.jpg
Damn that Merlin! Tell me more!

35.jpg

kay.jpg
Rest easy, old man. I am sorry I cannot take you with me.

36.jpg

bal.jpg
What news?

kay.jpg
Worse than I thought.

gar.jpg
An invasion?

kay.jpg
Possibly, the stone Arthur drew Excalibur from. It's magical as well.

ywa.jpg
Will the wonders never cease? Truly we live in strange times!

Winter came as Sir Kay's army make their way to Cornwall, Arthur's first province. Next year, development will focus towards Old Faith teachings. King Arthur decides that the people should rediscover the Old Faith and practices it once more.

37.jpg

Sir Kay further augments his Masterful Tactics with Wedges of Steel.
38.jpg

The Elite Brigands gained more ambushing skills.
39.jpg

Sir Balin continues to infuse magic into his unit's weapons.
40.jpg

While Sir Gareth perfects his Dragon's Breath.

We raced to Cornwall to recover the Dragon's Heart, but a group of robber knights calling themselves Brotherhood of the Ravens is plaguing the province of Dunmmodia. Sir Kay's army will quell this threat on its way to Cornwall.

01.jpg

02.jpg

kay.jpg
This is very bad.

bal.jpg
What's the matter?

kay.jpg
We're going to be outmaneuvered in this fight. They have an all-mounted army!

ywa.jpg
I trust your judgment, Sir Kay. I'll try to use my spells to slow them down.

gar.jpg
My Curse of Shadows will not be so effective against fast-moving targets, best I switch to Dragon's Breath.

03.jpg

If you recall, this is where we fought against King Mark.

kay.jpg
This is where I fall in battle for the first time.

bal.jpg
Hah! I did not think a brilliant strategist such as you could lose...

kay.jpg
Nay, my army was victorious, but I fell.

gar.jpg
It will not happen today.

04.jpg

The enemy has so much plains to work with. I cannot risk moving my archers away from my starting positions. Best to stick to the forests.

The opening exchange is Dragon's Breath to cut down their number. Unlike Curse of Shadows or Lightning Bolt, Dragon's Breath is a flat chance to insta-kill, which is very valuable against high hp targets like Knights.

05.jpg

Then we pepper them with Lightning Bolt.

06.jpg

The enemy casts Whirlwind, a really annoying spell that has a small chance to kill soldiers over time. Like a slower Dragon's Breath.

07.jpg

They even summoned a fog to cut down our archer visions. We have no choice but to cast Dragon's Eye.

08.jpg

By then, control of the battlefield is lost, and we've fallen into the enemy's pace. They simply have the initiative here.

09.jpg

In the confusion of having shot and stopped their charges, two of them slipped past the front lines and flanked our archers columns.

10.jpg

We're fucked.

11.jpg

The loose formation is very vulnerable to trampling. The heavy infantry formed into a wedge and attempts to salvage the situation. By then, more than 3 dozens archers have died.

12.jpg

That was a terrible outcome.

13.jpg

At least the reward is decent.

14.jpg

kay.jpg
We've lost too many soldiers. I fear the worst when we face the Unseelie Army in Cornwall.

ywa.jpg
Do not despair, they're not here yet.

bal.jpg
This is war, casualties are expected.

kay.jpg
Let us hope for the best. We've arrived at Cornwall.

15.jpg

16.jpg

kay.jpg
Send for the scouts, damn you Merlin.

king.jpg
You seem troubled, brother.

kay.jpg
Milord! I did not expect you to be here!

king.jpg
There's not much time, brother. Listen carefully. I sensed your army is weakened, try to negotiate with the Unseelie army if you can.

kay.jpg
Are they even willing to listen?

king.jpg
We don't know until we've tried.

kay.jpg
Very well, Arthur.

17.jpg

king.jpg
Go. For Camelot.

kay.jpg
Your will be done.

18.jpg

kay.jpg
The Dragon Heart is no longer here. Merlin has taken it elsewhere, its destination unknown to me. There is nothing for you here.

19.jpg

20.jpg

kay.jpg
Are you out of your-

king.jpg
We are willing to consider it.

kay.jpg
Arthur?!

king.jpg
Brother.

kay.jpg
No, Arthur. Don't make me do this.

king.jpg
Saving Cornwall through battle is one way, yet if your army is weak, who will save the whole Kingdom?

kay.jpg
I will find a way. Trust me!

king.jpg
I ask you to trust me as well as your King. The lives of 500 children, who in the future may as well be another face in your army, replacing the losses you'll experience today. Is it not worth more to have the possibility of an alliance with the Unseelie while keeping your veterans alive?

kay.jpg
An Alliance? Are you mad? They do not see us as equals!

king.jpg
We will make them see otherwise with our beliefs of the Old Faith. The Codex has spoken.

kay.jpg
ENOUGH WITH THE CODEX!

king.jpg
So, you will deny the wisdom of love, rages, and hatreds that does not scale to our levels? The ones that had seen Oblivion at its fullest? 'It' will happen again, we both know it.

kay.jpg
But I...it..shall be done.

king.jpg
Kay. Our time will come. We just have to endure it for now.

kay.jpg
As you command.

Sir Kay returns to his army.

gar.jpg
So what will it be?

bal.jpg
We're going to fight, aren't we?

kay.jpg
No. We will gather 500 children and deliver them to the enchantress within a week or Cornwall burns.

ywa.jpg
So this is the path the King decided to take...

gar.jpg
I did not hear that right...

bal.jpg
Stop jesting, you fool! Kay, tell us you're lying!

kay.jpg
You have your orders. The King commands you to gather the children of Cornwall, no older than 5 years. Gather them at the village square, then we'll deliver them to the Unseelie!

gar.jpg
I...

ywa.jpg
Hush, Sir Gareth. Do not make this more difficult to Sir Kay than it already is.

bal.jpg
I'm destined for hell anyway. Let's get this over with then!

21.jpg

The wailing of the parents separated from their young haunted Cornwall that day. Many soldiers could not help but wept openly as they escorted crying children to the Unseelie. True to their word, they withdrew.

Our tyrannical act has driven our forces to insensitivity. We now pillage corpses of the dead and therefore boost our battle spoils by 50%. A massive sum.

22.jpg

Two pieces of rewards were given by the Hermit before his passing.

23.jpg

Some artifacts require conditions before it can unlock its fullest potentials. This one has the potential of adding 8000 hit points to the hero if you equip it and carry it for 20 battless.

24.jpg

The ring works in similar way. Except it provides slight increase to mana.

The Winter came and the people's spirits are subdued. More stronghold developments followed.
25.jpg

26.jpg

Sir Ywain withdrew to his studies and practiced his Lightning Bolt.
27.jpg

king.jpg
Brother, I think it's time we find Merlin.

kay.jpg
Very well. I shall set forth with my army next spring.

The real codexian approach would be to pretend to agree, then backstab these heretical faeries and kill them all :smug:

To be honest, I thought at it from the war effort perspective:
If we really wanted recruits for replacements, I would want it from the front-line provinces, not from Cornwall. Cornwall is like...the last province you'd probably lose. If the war is going so badly you had to recruit from Cornwall, it's probably already a lost cause.

Also, the music in this game is fantastic. Although they have limited tracks, they really captured the mood of medieval theme.

The World Map 2

00.jpg

29.jpg

30.jpg

kay.jpg
What Warlock?

31.jpg

32.jpg

33.jpg

kay.jpg
With this, the Old Faith shall return to Arthur's Domain.

34.jpg

kay.jpg
Giants, wargs, barbarian archers, and berserkers.

bal.jpg
A dozen of those giants would really hurt. Count on my Dragon's Breath to burn a few.

gar.jpg
And mine as well.

ywa.jpg
I'll try to slow them down as much as possible But we really have to be wary of the warlock himself.

kay.jpg
Aye, his magic surpasses us all.

The giant army usually marches quickly and will not use this pass. The map is a straight up beat down, no VPs to capture.

35.jpg

Since we cannot outrun giants, might as well just setup an ambush.

37.jpg

While we snipe their giants with Dragon's Breath.

38.jpg

Their wargs moved quickly than the rest of the units, our cavalry unit swarmed the packs before it could threaten the archers, however...

39.jpg

ywa.jpg
Scatter!

bal.jpg
What just happened?!

gar.jpg
The warlock just struck us with his Lightning!

Man, I totally fell for that one. Maxed out Lightning Bolt does ridiculous damage at tightly packed enemies, it's made worse because it does extra damage against heavily armored units like Knights. It took out 16 Marauders, 21 Knights, and 9 Champions.

kay.jpg
I have to focus. We can't risk losing too much here! The rest of the enemy is still bearing on us.

40.jpg

Also, fucking Curse of Shadows hit our archers.

41.jpg

34 Brigands, 23 Archers died while running from it.

ywa.jpg
You're not the only one who can strike with magic!

42.jpg

The warlock replied with another lightning bolt, finishing off 17 Knights in one cast. We just lost a whole unit to 2 casts.

43.jpg

It's a good thing most of the survivors are veterans. We finally executed our long awaited ambush. Relieved that the warlock has no way to regenerate his mana.

44.jpg

kay.jpg
We really must find a way to counter these spells in the future...Looks like they've had enough. Archers, finishing Volley!

46.jpg

47.jpg

48.jpg

Another bad day for our army.

49.jpg

kay.jpg
We're in no shape for another fight, let's not antagonize them further, we just wiped out their guests, after all.

50.jpg

51.jpg

52.jpg

kay.jpg
That's settled. Let's march to London before the Saxons get there first!

kay.jpg
More missing children? It must be the Sidhe, we did not agree to this!

gar.jpg
Let us investigate at once!

02.jpg

kay.jpg
Did you find anything to help us in this investigation, Captain?

03.jpg

04.jpg

05.jpg

06.jpg

kay.jpg
I will visit this girl. She must know something.

07.jpg

kay.jpg
Did she say anything upon returning?

08.jpg

kay.jpg
Thank you. She's very fortunate. I think I'll investigate that strange house.

09.jpg

kay.jpg
To hell with subtlety.

10.jpg

kay.jpg
Guess I'll check with the neighbor.

11.jpg

12.jpg

kay.jpg
There must be a secret passage to the forest!

13.jpg

14.jpg

kay.jpg
Colors, eh? Let me try to recall. That girl, she mentioned 'red, hawk, lily'. That must be ruby!

15.jpg

kay.jpg
The second one is hawk! The symbol of a bird.

16.jpg

kay.jpg
The flower, lily.

17.jpg

kay.jpg
I didn't know the Unseelie had to rely on stealth to kidnap children.

18.jpg

kay.jpg
A camp of kidnappers? I'll wait till the drinks take effect.

19.jpg

kay.jpg
*slaps him* Speak. Where are the children?!

20.jpg

kay.jpg
Druids? What is the meaning of this?! Are you sure they're not the Unseelie?

21.jpg

kay.jpg
I've heard enough. Trading children for coin? What kind of monster are you? Execute them!

22.jpg

kay.jpg
The stone circle is far from here, the Saxons will not wait. I must send word to Arthur to follow up on this matter. Onwards to London!

Winter arrives, and our heroes hone their skills. Sir Gareth perfected his Dragon's Breath.
23.jpg

Sir Balin's Marauders gains elite skill pick.
24.jpg

Research efforts are underway to learn the Right of the Ancients, a law to spread the Old Faith.
25.jpg

The Stronghold builds Magistrate to quicken the research process.
26.jpg

And City Watch patrols are summoned to increase public safety.
27.jpg

Our alliance with the Welsh grants us access to two new units.
29.jpg

They hit hard and possess magic resistance, but their defense is pitiful. Skipped, brigands are better.

30.jpg

The Welsh is classified as 'Light infantry' but performs as good as heavy ones. Capable of advanced formations and possess armor piercing skills, they are as durable as most heavy infantry types. I might add them into the army later.

Next Spring, our army march unchallenged to claim one of the Saxon's empty province.
28.jpg

The next one isn't so empty. We finally met our first Saxon Army.
31.jpg

Saxon Riders are as good as Marauders. This army carries a hundred of them!

32.jpg

The Royal Guards are elite spear unit of Righteous Christians and a hard counter against Cavalry.

33.jpg

Longshields are hard to kill and is more for defensive purpose than offense.

kay.jpg
Their army is formidable. Expect to be out-maneuvered once again.

bal.jpg
Just tell me where to strike.

ywa.jpg
We trust your decisions.

kay.jpg
Very well. We will engage them at Dimtide.

34.jpg

35.jpg

The lack of forests and mostly plains seem to work against our advantage. I was fearful of making the wrong decision upon loading the map. The three VPs to the east are probably going to fall to the Saxons. We have to make do with a lone Sidhe Tower VP.

36.jpg

We did a quick grab for two VP and regrouped at the Sidhe Tower.

37.jpg

The two enemy Knights, led by their leaders charged at the Sidhe Tower, ahead of their army. Sir Ywain slowed one of them down with magic.

38.jpg

kay.jpg
Hurry up. They're almost here!

gar.jpg
Sir Kay, is this wise? If we make a stand here, there's nowhere else to retreat!

kay.jpg
We shall make our stand here or die trying.

39.jpg

The enemy cast Fog of Avalon, we quickly countered with Dragon Eye to nail the oncoming Knights.

40.jpg

One of them summoned a Barrier to deflect arrows. We ignored him for now.

41.jpg

kay.jpg
Their movements are slowed by the shallows! This is our chance. FIRE!

42.jpg

Elsewhere on the battlefield, we have lost control of all VP to the enemy.
43.jpg

bal.jpg
Incoming Saxon Riders from the east!

kay.jpg
Balin, Ywain! Smite them!

44.jpg

kay.jpg
Form a line! You must hold all the charges in front of the archers. Archers, focus on the enemies attempting to cross the shallows!

gar.jpg
The enemies control almost all the battlefield, we're losing morale!

45.jpg

kay.jpg
We will hold. Infantry, form a wall in front of us! Archers, FIRE!

47.jpg

As the enemy cavalry charge down on our melee line, Balin, Ywain and a Knight unit smashed at them from behind.

48.jpg

bal.jpg
Leaving so soon? HAH!

49.jpg

Our melee line held the charge.

gar.jpg
More incoming from the north! This damn fog won't go away!

51.jpg

kay.jpg
Ignore the slower infantry focus on the mounted units! There's one coming from the southeast!

52.jpg

ywa.jpg
Melee lines engaged, Commander!

53.jpg

kay.jpg
Balin, Ywain. Take control of the strategic points now! We'll keep them occupied!

bal.jpg
Fine, but you better stay alive till I return!

ywa.jpg
Here's a farewell present!

kay.jpg
:salute:

54.jpg

bal.jpg
Arrows incoming! Loose Formation!

55.jpg

kay.jpg
HOLD THE LINE!

56.jpg

57.jpg

kay.jpg
Rain death!

58.jpg

gar.jpg
Just a little...MORE! Dragon's Breath!

59.jpg

kay.jpg
Looks like Balin's got it! And Ywain too!

60.jpg

61.jpg

62.jpg

kay.jpg
Finish the job!

63.jpg

64.jpg

65.jpg

Nice loot, look at that huge amount of gold! Think I'll pass the artifact to Ywain. Another large army awaits us...The Saxon Wars is just starting.

We really must find a way to counter these spells in the future...

I told you to get prot from magic... but you would not listen! :M

Also, that battle with the warlock is probably one of the hardest ones in the game.

Also, don't make the stupid mistake of facing Sir Bertram... yet :M

If it's instant strike like Lightning Bolt, we're going to just have to eat it like a man. I didn't mind the Curse of Shadows much, but the Lightning Bolt and Dragon's Breath is just brutal on the pocket. That was like...10k worth of unit died in one cast. There was another counterspell that absorbs casts that costs 1.5x the mana spent casting. I thought of getting that, but I still have to pre-cast it before the spell actually hits, the application kinda suck to be honest.

We're stuck on Old Faith btw. This should be fun. :smug: I haven't even demonstrated Sidhe Roads yet.

bal.jpg
Interrogations are finished, Sir Kay. Here are the notes taken by yours truly.

kay.jpg
Good.

gar.jpg
Methinks you enjoyed it too much.

bal.jpg
You should try it sometime. It's soothing.

kay.jpg
Looks like we're up against the best of the Saxons next.

02.jpg

bal.jpg
A hundred Sangreal Knights. Always wanted to kill one. Zealots on a horseback.

gar.jpg
Judging from the enemy composition, we won't have the luxury of picking our battles or control the battlefield. Should we build up a bit?

04.jpg

kay.jpg
Out of the question. Looks like our archers will have their hands full.

ywa.jpg
I agree with Sir Kay, the enemy will take the opportunity to build up as well. We suffered only minor losses. I say we attack.

05.jpg

bal.jpg
They're so numerous. They did not even bother bringing archers, just swarms and swarms of Christians.

kay.jpg
Winter approaches, let us train ourselves. I'll work on my magical defenses.

06.jpg

Sewage are being improved in cities to promote health and a Sacred Meadow is planned to spread the influence of Old Faith.

07.jpg

08.jpg

An offer came during the winter.
09.jpg

It's not a bad offer. We accept.

The year passes.

king.jpg
Do you understand what you must do?

luc.jpg
Yes, my king. I am to find out the fate of Sir Percivale and persuade him to join the Knights of the Round Table.

king.jpg
That's right, Sir Lucan. Also, do not forget, should there are other champions of the Old Faith, do try to recruit them as well.

luc.jpg
I understand, Your Majesty. There are reports of Sir Dagonet, a rather eccentric knight. However, his whereabouts lies in the Western Murcia. The liege of that Kingdom does not allow us to pass through his borders.

king.jpg
I'll take note of that. Go forth.

luc.jpg
Your Majesty, pardon me for asking, what about the missing children?

king.jpg
Not until the Saxons threat is over.

luc.jpg
Understood.

Sir Lucan wished to propose a second army to be formed, but at the moment he realized the kingdom needs to focus on Saxon Wars and gather more capable commanders. Perhaps later, he will get a chance to prove himself.

10.jpg

luc.jpg
Looks like this is the place.

11.jpg

luc.jpg
I did not know there is another knight in this area. Perhaps I should speak to him first.

12.jpg

luc.jpg
He could be a formidable ally.

13.jpg

luc.jpg
So there is no compromise? What do you think of King Arthur, Sir Bedivere?

14.jpg

luc.jpg
I'm sure this will please him greatly. Welcome to the Knights of the Round Table.

15.jpg

16.jpg

Sir Bedivere is an Old Faith Warlord, with a moderate level of Old Faith spells learned.

The Sidhe Roads is an instant teleport spell that works in battlefields.

17.jpg

The cost is pretty prohibitive. It starts at 100, reduced by 15 per rank invested. However, there is a way around it.

18.jpg

Springborn is our first Sidhe Unit, remember the children who were kidnapped? They grew up to be soldiers of the Sidhe and became known as the Springborn. Some Sidhe units have Pathwalker - trait, this reduces cost of Sidhe Roads by half for the hero leading the unit. That is why it only costs 42 mana for Sir Bedivere to cast a rank 2 Sidhe Roads.

The Sidhe infantry is also not as well-armored as their Christian counterpart but they strike hard with their great-swords and excel at forest ambushes and gains bonuses from woods/weathers. The theme of the Sidhe is non-cavalry army. They rely on magic to move quickly and weather magics to deliver heavier damage instead of cavalry charges.

He also comes with a decent artifact that grants +2 to Enchanted Equipment skill, a massive boon.

19.jpg

It increases his unit damage by 15% per rank and 10% magic resistance per rank. Excellent!

luc.jpg
My King, I've brought Sir Bedevire of the Old Faith.

king.jpg
What of Sir Percivale?

bed.jpg
A prophecy marks him as a possible destroyer of Old Faith, King Arthur. I offered myself in exchange.

king.jpg
That is...regrettable. Yet I am greatly honored by the presence of a seasoned Champion of the Old Faith. There must be more like you out there...

bed.jpg
The honor is mine, King Arthur. I respect your efforts to resurrect the Old Faith in these times. Have you tried seeking out the Green Knight?

king.jpg
I've not heard of him, is he of the Old Faith as well?

bed.jpg
Yes. Perhaps he will also be willing to join our cause in the future. For now, what is your order, King Arthur?

king.jpg
I will be honored to have your aid in our campaigns against the Christian King Raedwald. My forces are currently engaged near Norfolk.

bed.jpg
I shall proceed there at once.

ywa.jpg
Sir Lucan's here.

bal.jpg
Who's that man next to him. He looks strong.

kay.jpg
Hail, Sir Lucan.

luc.jpg
Hail, all. Please welcome, Sir Bedivere, Champion of the Old Faith.

bed.jpg
The honor is all mine.

kay.jpg
You've come at the right time. And who are these fine warriors with you?

ywa.jpg
I believe they are called 'Springborn'.

bed.jpg
Aye, human children, brought up by the Sidhe.

Sir Kay's face's expression hardens.

gar.jpg
I see. Will you be joining us in our next battle, then?

bed.jpg
With your permission.

ywa.jpg
I'll let him take over my place.

01.jpg

bed.jpg
What are we up against?

kay.jpg
Cavalry. Sangreal Knights, hundred of zealots in all shapes and sizes.

02.jpg

bed.jpg
To battle!

I have no idea why the AI always choose this map. I guess it's advantageous to them?

03.jpg

kay.jpg
Alright, I want Balin's Marauders to secure the Village to the southeast. The rest of you come with me to the Sidhe Tower. We need to capture it quickly.

bed.jpg
If time is the essence, I can get there quickly.

kay.jpg
Do so.

And with that, Sir Bedivere and his Springborns vanished without a trace.

gar.jpg
Incredible!

bal.jpg
....I barely made my way out..See you in the battlefield, brothers!

kay.jpg
Best of luck, onward!

04.jpg

bed.jpg
Now let's secure this tower. What's that sound?

05.jpg

bed.jpg
Too fast. I best slow them down a bit.

Sir Bedivere's poison is both slowing and damaging. It's not really a good skill, but cheap on the mana.

07.jpg

kay.jpg
Good work, Sir Bedivere, we'll make a stand here.

bed.jpg
Tis' nothing....Urk.

08.jpg

gar.jpg
What's wrong? Were you wounded?

bed.jpg
I've been struck by the Christian's magic. My mana...they burned it away!

kay.jpg
Damn it! Can you still teleport?

bed.jpg
I'm afraid not, Commander. I am sorry.

kay.jpg
Change of plans then.

gar.jpg
Here they come! I'll curse them on the mean time!

09.jpg

The Sangreal Knights are just too fast. We're about to lose control of the VPs.
54.jpg

kay.jpg
Archers, fire!

The onrushing knights made it to the shores, only to be put down by our infantry.

10.jpg

bal.jpg
More of them from the east. Gareth, Dragon's Breath!

gar.jpg
You don't have to tell me twice!

11.jpg

bal.jpg
Nice going, ready to charge?

gar.jpg
Must we?

bal.jpg
You're leading Champions now, there's no excuse. Wedge formation! Charge!

12.jpg

bed.jpg
Commander, we have no wall to hold the advance!

kay.jpg
I know, they're taking too long to kill!

gar.jpg
Maybe this Curse will speed things up!

13.jpg

bal.jpg
You fool! Pay attention to the battle in front of you!

gar.jpg
Calm down- I know....Urk!

14.jpg

bal.jpg
Curses! We lost that weakling!

kay.jpg
Damn it, perhaps it was a bad idea to put Gareth in the front line, after all? Now we've lost our Sage!

bed.jpg
Commander, enemies across the river! I suggest you retreat!

kay.jpg
Archers! Withdraw this position!

15.jpg

The situation is dire, our archer columns are trapped. There's no line protecting them and enemy units are converging from three directions.

16.jpg

kay.jpg
Sink or swim! Balin, once you've finished, hit them from behind!

bal.jpg
Will do!

17.jpg

Sir Kay's archer columns ran across the small lake with the enemy in hot pursuit.

18.jpg

Sir Bedivere and the rest of the infantry are still stuck in a pitched battle.

19.jpg

Another unit of our archer broke off from the rest and had to be rescued by a Knight unit.

20.jpg

21.jpg

Sir Kay is pursued to the forest, however Balin is ready to assist.

22.jpg

kay.jpg
Any time now...

bal.jpg
COMING THROUGH!

23.jpg

That was all the punch needed. With the enemy mounted units wiped out, the infantry could not withstand the charge. The enemy's army routed.

26.jpg

kay.jpg
That was close...find Gareth.

bal.jpg
Got him.

gar.jpg
Oooh. What happened?

bal.jpg
I just saved your arse you ungrateful twit.

kay.jpg
Looks like those wounds will take time to heal. But I think we broke the Saxons for now.

bed.jpg
I must apologize for my dismal performance. I did not expect...

kay.jpg
No apologies needed, I know your strengths. The enemy is fortunate today.

bed.jpg
Very well, Commander. Let us gather the loot and the wounded.

27.jpg

And what a massive loot it is. Too bad the loss replacement cost roughly the same.

28.jpg

bal.jpg
I still don't see how you could have fallen so easily. I charge all the time and made it out just fine!

gar.jpg
Look, I really can't remember what happened. I just finished casting my Curse of Shadows, then I fell off my horse.

bal.jpg
Bah, go and have your rest, I need to ease off my tension a bit.

29.jpg

Winter arrives as we reinforce our army. Many soldiers gained much experience from this year's battle.

31.jpg

Sir Balin perfected his enchanted weapons.

gar.jpg
I think I've got it!

bal.jpg
What is it?

gar.jpg
This time, if I'm going down, I'm taking someone down with me!

32.jpg

bal.jpg
That might just work...

The Stronghold improvement continues, once the Ancient Meadows complete, Sidhe Legation construction will begin.

33.jpg

The following year, a false prophet appeared at a Christian province. We need to deal with this quickly.

34.jpg

There is always other, more beneficial, yet expensive options.

35.jpg

bed.jpg
Tis money well-spent, I feel.

kay.jpg
Too bad we can only train them during the winter.

Smaller remnants of Saxon army patrol Norfolk's countryside, we hunted and wiped out two of them.

36.jpg

37.jpg

Looks like we're ready.

38.jpg

39.jpg

bed.jpg
I won't let you down this time!

40.jpg

This is very similar to London. Tight quarters, making speed and setup positions essential. The AI is very weak in this situation.

41.jpg

Sir Bedivere already captured a VP in town, while Sir Balin rushes another, the enemy only started moving downhill from their Stronghold.

42.jpg

Sir Gareth enjoys a little sniping session.

43.jpg

The defenders could not coordinate well, their mounted units arrived first, only to be killed by our archers. They tried everything, fog, and anti-arrow barriers, but we still pierced their defenses.

44.jpg

By the time they got down, 150 archers are already aiming at them.

45.jpg

The enemy has vacated their stronghold VP. Sir Bedivere takes it with teleportation.

46.jpg

The Norfolk defenders are marching into a meat grinder, their Fog magic only making it worse, their archers had not fired a shot while we butchered their cavalry.

47.jpg

When the cavalry made it to melee range, our heavy infantry slaughtered them.

49.jpg

Yep, they're still marching a few blocks away. LOL.

50.jpg

We controlled all VP and retreated in the cover of the fog.

51.jpg

They reached the city's exit...and served as target practice upon arrival.

52.jpg

Abysmal defense AI, to be honest.

Here's a little cheat that the AI kingdoms like to use. Normally, heroes are needed to recruit more troops, but the Saxons didn't need any heroes to hire all these mounted units. Good thing we scouted earlier, they'll turn to 300 strong units if we let them complete recruitment.

01.jpg

We wiped them out handily and so ends the Saxon kingdom. Winter arrives and some brigands have gained the ability to fire flame arrows.

02.jpg

While the use of flame increases damage by 30% but it increases reload time by 30%

Sir Gareth needs to pick a useless skill before he can unlock Spellweaving.

03.jpg

I'm not sure if it's worth it, but since I pumped his combat skill, he should kill more in melee instead of dying. Oh, he doesn't have to kill them personally either, he just needs to be close to get the mana point.

04.jpg

Sir Bedivere takes Magical Protection, but I'm not sure if it's the right decision.

05.jpg

Rank 10 bowmen gets access to Swift Arrows. 10 minute cooldown but 30 seconds of super fast reloads for that burst damage.

06.jpg

The Heavy Footmen can get more bonuses in open fields.

07.jpg

But I doubt we can pick our battles when it comes to really slow, heavy infantry. So I picked Masterwork Weapons instead.

08.jpg

The Stronghold aims for longer, bigger projects now.

09.jpg

Our morality finally unlocks the first slowing poison of the Sidhe. It has its use...but there are better skills out there.

10.jpg

The Rights of the Ancients Law is passed, and every year we convert our people to the Old Faith.

11.jpg

With the conquering of Norfolk, we can now recruit Saxon Knights and Saxon Riders. I'm leaning more towards the Riders, the Knights are overpriced.

12.jpg

Our Alliance with Wales starts to show signs of cracks. They want us to show a little bit of tribute.

13.jpg

We take this chance to further increase our beliefs in the Old Faith with huge donations to keep the Alliance going.

14.jpg

More good news.

15.jpg

This allows us to divert our military power towards conquering both West and East Mercia, where Sir Dagonet awaits recruitment.

16.jpg

Also, slightly missed update earlier:

17.jpg

I've been saving this artifact for rainy days, This cursed artifact was awarded upon completing Merlin's Return. This item's cursed property is really painful to absorb, but once the curse is cleansed, this artifact becomes pretty useful by granting Sidhe Roads to its wielder! And eventually at 1000 mana used, we will unlock its second magical property, a 50% discount on the casting cost of Sidhe Roads.

Hello and welcome back to King Arthur's LP! After Norfolk fell, Saxonian units are available. I've debated on whether I should consolidate them into my army, but I think not, my aim right now is to aim for more Sidhe units to integrate. With the Saxons threat are over, only Wales and the kingdom of East & West Murcia stands independent. Since Wales is allied with us, guess it's time for us to absorb Murcia.

00.jpg

Our first battle takes us to a familiar place. We're going to blitz ALL of East Murcia in one season. The Murcian Defenders are highly outclassed, this should prove to be easy.

0a.jpg

One VP on our side..another VP nearby, but in shallows. While the enemies have three on their shores. No problem. The Sidhe ninjas will guide the way.

01.jpg

Yoink.

02.jpg

bed.jpg
That was easy. Now to wait for the unsuspecting enemy...

kay.jpg
Looks like Bedivere's got it. Our archers will cover this side. We'll punish those who dare come close.

03.jpg

gar.jpg
Ah, more victims of my curse.

04.jpg

bed.jpg
Looks like they're here. Let's get'em boys!

05.jpg

06.jpg

With the infantry tying up the cavalry, we held equal VP while keeping one neutral VP under close watch.

07.jpg

bed.jpg
The enemy doesn't seem interested in moving at all...perhaps...if I can persuade them to move...heheh.

08.jpg

bed.jpg
Farewell, fools!

bal.jpg
What is that old fool trying to do?

09.jpg

bed.jpg
Come and get it!

10.jpg

kay.jpg
Looks like he provided a diversion, ADVANCE!

bed.jpg
Heheh, looks like the Commander caught on my plans. Good. Time to back off...

11.jpg

bed.jpg
RUN FASTER LADS! ANY SECOND NOW---!

12.jpg

bed.jpg
Phew...did everyone make it?

One didn't. :( You can see it on the pre-teleport screenshot that one lagged behind and got trampled. Oh well. :salute:

13.jpg

With the advance of our archers, the ranged power they brought was too much to resist. Sir Gareth's Curse of Shadows claimed hundreds of Murcian archers, while Balin revelled in the slaughter.

14.jpg

bed.jpg
Rest easy, Lad.

kay.jpg
Marvelous work, Knights! But we're not finished yet!

The gold is nice...but the artifact is even better.
15.jpg

30% attack speed. Awesome. Archers benefit the most so Sir Kay gets it.

The second assault follows.

16.jpg

bal.jpg
You going on that wizardry again, old man?

bed.jpg
Heh.

17.jpg

bed.jpg
COME GET SOME!

The Murcian light cavalry were stupefied. They could not even gain momentum before the Springborns greatswords swung and decapitate their horses.

bed.jpg
Running away? A little poison might convince you to stay!

18.jpg

gar.jpg
Hmm. This isn't a battle anymore, it's slaughter.

19.jpg

bal.jpg
I'm not complaining.

We haven't even secured a second VP but almost half of the Murcian army is already decimated.
20.jpg

bed.jpg
We're done here. Let's go, boys!

21.jpg

kay.jpg
Excellent work, Bedivere!

bed.jpg
I see you've been busy, Commander.

The Murcian Knights attempted to capture the VP across the river. We pelt them with arrows till only one of them remain.

22.jpg

kay.jpg
Looks like they're too afraid to even defend that point.

bal.jpg
Again, I'm not complaining.

23.jpg

24.jpg

gar.jpg
Looks like they're planning some sort of counterattack, two knights charging ahead!

25.jpg

kay.jpg
No problem.

26.jpg

You just can't do that against rank 10 archers and brigands. Their morale collapses.

27.jpg

More good loot.

28.jpg

In less than a year, the kingdom of East Murcia was absorbed into Arthur's Kingdom. Nobody doubted the Western kingdom will follow suit.

29.jpg

But something foul occurred in Viroconium...
