Gotta say quests and world design itself are fun, but sweet Jesus the time you spend staring at the screen waiting for the ominous clock to turn is insane.
Developers must have thought: So apparently people don't want to wait 5 hours realtime to meet some fucker at the tavern. Okay lets give them a fast-forward option. But wouldn't it be cool if that fast-forward option would also be slow as fuck. You know highly immersive and historically accurate.

The reason it is so slow is because the game simulates 2300 AI entities in the background without cheating it. It is a price of the simulation and our current hardware limitations.
