Uh, what are you doing to your cleric that it is a bandaid? You're doing it wrong

Hold Person ho!

Its not a question of doing it "wrong", WotC said back in 3rd. Edition they "buffed" Clerics so people would played then beyond the "healing" role and considering that 3.5 added Wizard Spells to the Cleric list I think the Cleric was still not attractive as class for players.

Clerics are powerful in 3(.5)rd Edition but still when you have group mechanics you end up with classes that are picked for "stereotype" roles and in the end what is the best class for Healing? Even if the player wants to go another route there is likely to be group pressure that the Cleric primary role will be Healing.

Possibly, but the whole idea of spontaneous conversion is that they (well, non-evil ones) can do both. Instead of having to allot spells for healing and thus be relegated to a healing role even where they could use other spells to greater effect, they can now cast buffs and such as they need to, and still have the ability to heal after a battle. And generally, this is a more effective use of spells due to the power of cleric buffs and spells like Hold Person. So if it's there's group pressure keeping you from taking clerics beyond the band-aid role, then yeah, I'd say something is wrong there.

Plus, it should matter even less in a game like KotC, where (a) you're playing the entire party, so you define the group dynamic, and (b) every caster has "spontaneous conversion" of a sort, so if you have any other divine casters, they can fill the healing role almost as well as the cleric. You could just as easily argue that the sorceror having cleric spells is a good thing, because it allows the cleric greater leeway in casting non-healing spells (edit: this part is in response to your earlier post).

Typically, Death Knights of good and neutral alignment are vigilantes who see traditional law enforcement as feeble and ineffective. Hence, they are sometimes called Avenger, Justiciar or Enforcer. A Death Knight is committed to the ideas of justice, loyalty and retribution.

Finally, a game where I can roleplay The Punisher :M

Also, dual-wielding? Fuck you, quadruple-wielding is the new deal!

What a sensible idea. I wonder why he hasn't figured that out yet. It's so easy, just hire some professional artist and pay him with your lottery winnings, or maybe cancel your life assurance.

Oh, you already got to this one. Nevermind then.

Very much looking forward to this game.

Or find someone willing to do it for free perhaps? Better to have nothing then the current horrors.

Does it really mean this much to you? Are you honestly this affected by the pictures?

He had a professional artist for the actual in game graphics for KoTC 1, and they were awesome, so we can hope that he is just skimping on the concept art because well, who cares about concept art.

Releasing those sketches on the net is probably not a great idea however.

This could be the RPG of the decade bros, no joke.

To hell with original settings, give me elven wizards and halfling rogues to play with and dragons to cleave. If this game and Risen 2 deliver, it'll be a good year.

Also potentially interesting: if wands are light weapons, you could have a mantis wizard or cleric (Better for wizards, with the no armor bit) weilding 3 wands at once and still have a hand free for spellcasting. Complete overkill of course, but very stylish.

Wands?

It definitely looks to be heading in a good direction, and all this is still just scratching the surface I'd imagine on the whole of the other game elements.

Yes indeed, this is going to be awesome.

I actually like the pictures; they're shit, but enthusiastic, and I appreciate that. They remind me of David C. Sutherland III, who was also p. shit technically but was pretty much The Guy in original Dungeons & Dragons artwork from the 70's.

If he releases THAT crap I will refuse to buy the game on principle! I can draw better with my left hand, drunk and a pillow case over my head! I mean that literally.

If those are just placeholder pictures until he can get a real artist then fine. But he still should not have released those on the net. They are that bad! If my 5 year old niece had drawn those then I would be mildly impressed. But anyone 13 or older drawing that badly should never be allowed to pick up a pencil ever again!

Those are fucking HORRIBLE!

I never took you for a moron, old boy.

Guess I will have to update my SkeleTony.txt

....Oh, hang on. This is still a war that is carrying over the magic type used in the game, isn't it? I bet it is, or an extension thereof. Just get over yourself and get back to being a quality poster, instead of being so vindictive. Failing that, offer up a few examples of that Drunken, left handed pillow art of yours. We will let you know if you are correct in your claims, and if so, you can offer your services to the developer. Everybody is a winner.

They'll be better once he puts out the post-release dx11 high res texture pack. He's just been limited by console pandering in the development cycle.

Sorcerer? A Cleric and Wizard Spellcaster... what the fuck...
Aw! It's not pure D&D! The horror!

Seriously, this kind of multispecialist class is just logical. Like the ranger is a fighter/druid hybrid. As DoomIhlVaria said, it's just a variation around the idea of the Mystic Theurge.

I have fewl problems with the hybrid class idea. But calling this a "Sorcerer" just does not make any sense. WTF does being a sorcerer have to do with priestly stuff?! Wizardry 6-8 was bad with those games' "Bishop" class as well. It is like creating a new martial artist class that is a hybrid of the monk and the ranger and calling it a "Necromancer".

Are rogues finally in? Are the quests and story going to be unshitty?

And agreeing on Sorcerer. What the fuck there's already a Sorcerer in D&D, a charisma dependant wizard with a different way of casting. Don't start making retarded shit up now.

I never quite understood why the cast-spells-from-all-schools class was called Bishop in Wiz either. Was there some semi-plausible explanation in the lore or was it just a very silly name for no real reason?

A ranger is not a hybrid of anything. It's a dual wield or bow specialist with a natural enemy and with some nature spells thrown in like entangle and an animal companion.

It doesn't have to be 'pure' D&D, but calling it Sorceror makes no sense.

Why is it silly? Under what all defining rule set?

I had never thought about the Bishop class before you mentioned it. So please, tell me about the universal rules, where you got them from and why they so imprinted on your, and other minds.

Perhaps it is because I have played so many CRPG's before where the various classes have been swapped around all over the place. Perhaps it is because of the dearth of decent, old school, turn based tactical CRPG's are around...all I know is that aspects like this where somebody creates their own class type for a Sorceror, and a bit of art is not having any detrimental effect on me...

By all means, enlighten me on the importance of these aesthetics, and why they ruin your experience. Perhaps there is indeed some hidden explanation why these things are so important, while dumbing down, over bloom, playing basically the same FPS game with an ever smaller amount of stats, five thousand times, ala todays CRPG's is just fine and dandy.

Strict answer - yes. But I'm sure that by asking that, you wished to know if there's an utility class with broad choice of skills that can be used outside of combat, like hide in shadows, steal, open lock, search, disarm traps and so on. There's no such class, rogues will be quick and agile fighters who can backstab for additional damage.

Are the quests and story going to be unshitty?
If you create such quests for your own module, using the promised editor, sure.
