Wow, I expected to see separate file for the patch, but now I need to load whole game again. And! it is counted toward 2/20 in the number of available downloads per file, so I losing one available copy of KotC 2 with each new patch and after patch #18 I Won't be able to even load it.

Something really fishy here.

By the time patch 18 hits Kotc2 will come onto Steam so you gotta buy it there

I'm sure Pierre would reset it as more patches comes out.

Can't get through the gate and I don't think I ever will with the current setup because not everyone has access to level 9 spells even after clearing the outside. :negative:

I had a perfect run going, dominated the maralith, killed the lich, cleared the towers, everything absolutely perfect, but the continual reinforcements chip away at my guys until there's nothing left. At this point I might just restart and make a few class changes (BUT NOT RACE CHANGES) and use some sandbagging to hit it again. I think I could get through the gate, but only if everything went absolutely perfect, it's not ideal to have to burn those scrolls of prismatic void when I should have the spells memorized and only having one psion with tornado blast is simply not enough.

Like I said, I could probably get through with enough tries, but it wouldn't be worth it, I have been defeated.

Oh and I think I have to concede, the one big strength of the cleric is access to spells like mass energy protection, but the class just comes up too short otherwise, not enough good offensive spells for those times where you just can't heal. I will say that everyone should absolutely positively guy the succor wand from the dwarf, it's a lifesaver.

Some random ramblings after beating the game:
1. Shops reset after every encounter you can really abuse this in chapter 3 buying tons of cleansing pots and true ress scrolls.
2. Spell accelerated Cleric really saved my ass multiple times, you have to cast it on him with your Wizard/Psion but its worth it for double Ress/Heal/Dispelstuff.
3. Cloud spells are maybe a bit too insane since the AI doesnt ever wanna walk into them, so they try to go around if possible or wait around endlessly for it to end if no dispel available.
4. Ranger idk if it was good in the end, worked really well on some of the fights where the melees cant reach the enemies cause of huge maps or elevation problems. And paladin i went just cause i didnt like erzimon using both same spells slots for both wizard/cleric and wanted to make one from the start but there it was a companion to save me!
5.And yes Jasede your posts helped my party building quite a lot which you noticed, while waiting for Pierre to get back from his vacation since I missed the Kickstarter I read everything you guys were theorycrafting from the game here and on discord
6. All of this was on patch 1.0 didn't wanna risk patch breaking my save so near the end, I have W7 and didn't experience crashes almost at all,a few times you get game freeze not a crash on enemy thinking idk if this is related to not having fast AI on.

All in all best Rpg I played for as long as I can remember

I have explored the Upper Sewers and I can tell you this 1 thing: an optimized quad-wielding Mantis with 2 Garamond's Maces and 2 other Two-Handers blends the encounters into fine paste in single rounds. That's before he is hasted.

Told you those things were killer, just shreds the shit out of everything.

Now, get the belt of the lion from the merchants and boots of haste and you're golden.

If only I had 4 of them...
No, 8, for my replay-party later.

Gonna try my hand against the castle now. High Sewer is actually easy, if you survived the Low Sewer & the first (retarded) fight.

Even with the optimized as shit tactics the only winning move is 'win initiative.'

Yes, no full action on surprise round.
What's your party?

By the way, the Sharkman Treasure you missed is very valuable.

Ordinary men hoard scrolls and potions, afraid they might need them later...

My gladiator, well:

What you gonna do for NPCs? I had to kill the Warlock because else my game corrupts, but if I had to replay I wouldn't take Erzimon I think, for more XP. Jury is still out on Succubus Paladin. +2 reflex for everyone, as well as 26 CHA Smites aren't bad. But not Gladiator-good.

Jasede I wanted to ask your opinion on the mantis fighter/gladiator comparison. These are the main benefits of going for a gladiator:
- competence in all weapon groups (it can be relevant because you want to be able to use every good weapon you can find, I guess);
- slightly higher abilities;
- higher AC, due to the class feature;
- blinding strikes.

Is this enough to trump the benefits of the Wade In feat? When your full attack action consists of 8 attacks, being able to use it consistently seems to me the most important thing for this character.

I haven't had a Fighter yet, so it's very hard to say.
However, you can purchase a Belt in the High Sewers that allows you to use your Full Attack after a Charge. This doesn't replace Wade In, but it's a pretty good substitute.

I will say that in the High Sewer I often wish I had Wade In. Gladiator's biggest strength is early game and later on, the increased ability scores.

That said, if we're strictly speaking Mantis I just don't see why you wouldn't want to be a Gladiator; you will miss out on crazy AC if you are not a Gladiator due to not being able to wear armor, and a decent AC, while not as important in some games, is still very important.

Another point is that you can't really afford spending gold/XP on crafting so being able to use any weapon you find is a big advantage.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Grab the Codex by the pussy RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I helped put crap in Monomyth
Woah so this is the water cave everyone was talking about.

Are surprise rounds suppose to gimp your move action? Because that's what they do.

Surprise rounds are still insanely useful even with a single action (true to the rules btw), characters who've acted aren't flatfooted and can get ready for their actual round.

A spellcaster can also potentially completely shutdown an entire combat with a single well used standard action.

Figures, 2 gladiators, 1 bishop, 1 warlock, 1 wizard, and 1 psion.
Bishop is good but you are missing spells like mass remove negative levels, and the single target one comes to late . The other draw back is you need very high cha to make turns usefull, a cleric just need high wisdom so you dont sacrifice anything you max that and have very hig spell DC. In Kotc 2 every classes that requires to be good in more than 2 stats must not be taken. I dont see why pick warlock either , rather have one pure wizard and one psion.

They sure can, because that's how every enemy spell caster in the entire game starts the fight on you.

I've learned so many things in this game on how to make your players rage:

1) Open every fight with Web, Quicksand, Entangle, Stinking Cloud
2) Stack something else on top to make sure your players are really fucked. How about a Stinking Cloud on top of the Web you already cast? Or how about some Grease under the Stinking Cloud?
3) Throw nukes on the now-helpless adventurers.

Works every time.

Haven't decided yet, but I'll probably take Erzimon out of principle :cool: and his ring is very nice, besides the sorcerer is actually handy to have as a backup. A lot of times my own sorcerer was falling back and then rezzing people. When Pierre fixes the psychic healing feat it'll be even easier to keep people up or get them back up again.
