If you wanna test it, I seem to recall finding a torrent someplace... Or, I could just send you my version? I doubt you'll see money spent on KotC as wasted though.

I really would prefer to test it out a bit more and since I haven't been able to find a torrent for it in any of my usual places I'll gladly take whatever you've got; though, I suspect you're right and it'll end up being money well spent either way.

I bet all those poor fuckers who were fireballed first by your party without to ever get the chance to act are saying the same.

They got a fair initiative toss! damnit!

You don't need a damn torrent. =/
I played the demo and bought the game. I can promise you this:

There is absolutely nothing you will learn or see from the full game that you couldn't try out in the demo. Nothing. Zero. Just buy it or don't, but for god's sake don't encourage torrenting this gem.

It's simple:

Do you like fighting monsters in this system using Wizards, Fighters and Clerics? Yes? Buy it.
Do you not like that? Then no, don't even torrent it. Why would your opinion change? The demo is exactly like the game. You will learn _nothing_ new from a torrent.

ToEE easily takes this cake. It has everything KotC has + all combat options (like Coup de Grace), all base classes and so on. KotC's only advantage here is 10 levels of advancement more.

Enemies don't wake up sleeping allies, KotC has Coup de Grace and most importantly, KotC has better encounter design. Sure, KotC is simplified in most respects, especially the party, when compared to ToEE but you have more and more varied combat which is the crunch here, imho.

Of course, everyone should play both, naturally :rpgcodex:

KotC has Coup de Grace? Too long since I played it obviously. I just remembered raging when I stunned a green dragon in a lucky stroke and then wasn't able to Coup de Grace it.

Yes, I am sorry that unlike you, moral-free ubermensch straight out of Nietzsche's fever-ridden dreams, I think there is some value in following morals. I know that this is passe these in these grim days of "independence" and smug superiority where holding on to something is to be mocked, not praised, but fortunately for both of us we will never have to share the same room together.

If you have the up-to-date version, I think 1.27 or something, there should be a campfire on every dungeon, though not necessarily on every level. Don't remember that place though so can't help you.

IIRC you have one campfire in the tower and it's available exactly 1 time before (or after) fighting some elementals. Plan accordingly.

There is a campfire in the tower. If you use it it's gone. You already used it on a lower level- you are screwed.

I know it won't make any difference, however...

There is a demo.

The game costs $15.

$15. Demo.

The two big things that all the pirates say is necessary. I agree with them in a way, and will add 'copy protection schemes' as another drawback for big games. Well...

No DRM on KotC.

All three areas covered. If you enjoyed the demo, buy it. $15.

If you thought the demo was too hard; the game is easier.

Cannot make it any simpler.

By the way I think the game costs $20 (USA) but no matter I'll probably buy it this weekend whether I end up torrenting it or not. My only real concern is that I'll get bored because of the party limitation after a few hours, which is something the demo wouldn't really be able to show very well unless it was quite long.

Moreover I've gotten used to simply pirating everything first and buying it second. It's a force of habit these days and kind of feels odd to do it any other way really. Like I've said... school all week, first time in a long time, then KotC this weekend one way or the other. *in fact I think I'll go play the demo a bit more right now. (got wiped on the first turn by an undead ambush)

I've never seen a torrent for it, neither my private tracker nor TPB has one.

The AI in KOTC is wayyyy better and makes combat x10 more enjoyable

There was (is?) a torrent on Demonoid.
