There's a beta patch for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for those having a few hardware issues with the game. Here's what it fixes:

Long pauses while playing with sound enabled using a motherboard with an Intel i845 or i850 chipset with 100mhz front side bus.

Crashing at the main menu (the one with new game, load game, options, etc...) with a Radeon 9600.

Neat. Never had that glitch on my Radeon 9600 card, but I sure as hell can't ALT-TAB with the game.

Bah. Useless patch that doesn't fix the major bug I've been afflicted by.
