then perhaps they should have asked for a larger timeline before saying "Yes" and then not being able to fulfill it.
Perhaps, perhaps not. I wasn't there when they agreed to that, but knowing people I'd guess that the time they agreed on was the time Atari was willing to give them. So, most likely it was take it or leave it situation. Should we blame Troika for not walking away or Atari for not willing to give them enough time after they saw the game in final stages?

When you blame everyone's, it misses the point. It sorta like nobody's fault thing, you know. Example, you have a 10 people department, things go bad, everyone's contributed, so you look for a) a person who contributed the most - Atari, and b) a person who could have saved the day but didn't -Atari again.

Nop. Sorry, no dice. If only one person is to be blamed; blame that eprson. When more than one person (or companies) are involved blame both.

For example, if you have two peolel involved in a killing spree; but one fo them clearly has done more for their cause. Do you just blame the one and keep the other blameness? No, you don't. You blame, and hopefully punish them both.

Blame and punishment are two different things: both Atari and Troika were already punished. Troika got a reputation of the buggiest developer evar, failed to turn ToEE into a hit and now Silent Storm is the champion of TB games, may be even lost the chance to make more dnd games, etc. Atari failed to develop their own gold box series, didn't make as much money as they hoped, etc. Blame is something else, blame is about responsibility, blame is about pointing at a party that screwed things up. It's Atari. Had they given Troika another 3 months, had they not imposed the word count (allegedly), had they paid for decent voice actors, had they not released the older, more buggier version, well, things could have been different. And that's why I blame Atari. That's my opinion, and I'm not trying to convince anybody here as I don't give a damn who thinks what. No offense, of course.

Hey, that's something we agree on. Neither of us really care what others think. Hehe.
