So, if you don't mind my asking, where do you draw the line between things that you feel need to be in the game to give it depth and meaning, and the need for the game to be successful in the broader market?

Are there certain ideas and concepts that you feel absolutely need to be be in a game, and that you are willing to fight to keep them in, regardless of the pressure from other departments/people? And what would you, in general, feel to be essential ideas?
