Yeah. I've had crystal crewmember before, only to get fucked by randoms. One was a 5-man mantis boarding team. Tore straight through my crew and ship. :(

Update time!
FTLh0234.jpg

Obvious choice is obvious (if you've been reading the quest dialogues, which you probably haven't but whatever.)
FTLh0235.jpg

One bigass empty sector ready to go.
FTLh0236.jpg

Not sure what we're looking for in here to find the wormhole, better check nodes without ships as well.
FTLh0237.jpg

Oh man.
FTLh0238.jpg

Oh wow a whole one fuel. So worthwhile.
FTLh0239.jpg

Oh also we seem to be warping somewhere.
FTLh0240.jpg

Think this might be good guys?
FTLh0241.jpg

Quest marker ahoy!
FTLh0242.jpg

And of course instant store. :smug:
FTLh0243.jpg

Cooool.
FTLh0244.jpg

Interesting.
FTLh0245.jpg

This one seems a bit redundant for us but I could see it being useful if you don't want to board ships.
FTLh0246.jpg

Pity we don't have much to sell.
FTLi0001.jpg

Well first of all lets get patched up.
FTLi0002.jpg

May as well buy this just to try it, it's dirt cheap.
FTLi0003.jpg

Don't need this laser any more.
FTLi0004.jpg

Set things up this way I guess? With 3 weapon energy, we can either firebomb, fire 3 laser bursts, or fire the heavy crystal shard.
FTLi0005.jpg

Better nab some fuel too.
FTLi0006.jpg

And to top it off, we grab the cloak.
FTLi0007.jpg

Our target isn't too far off. Well, lets get to it!
FTLi0008.jpg

No big surprise here, we have to fight crystal guys in the crystal sector. Well technically this one is optional.
FTLi0009.jpg

But since when the fuck do we back down from fights?
FTLi0010.jpg

Poor bastards only have 2 crew.
FTLi0011.jpg

We manage to kill this fucker before he gets back to the medbay.
FTLi0012.jpg

Huh, they fired that crystal lockdown bomb at our shield room.
FTLi0013.jpg

Oh noes! TOME will have to stay inside... and keep doing what he was going to do anyways... and suffer no ill effect. I can see why this isn't a standard enemy weapon.
FTLi0014.jpg

Shit, their other weapons are the ones we could buy.
FTLi0015.jpg

They're like burst lasers with crystal shards.
FTLi0016.jpg

I guess they can ignore the last point of shielding. Weird.
FTLi0017.jpg

Well, we can play that game too.
FTLi0018.jpg

Want to use the medbay do you?
FTLi0019.jpg

HAH.
FTLi0020.jpg

Nice late sector rewards.
FTLi0021.jpg

Oh yeah, we rescued some punks too huh?
FTLi0022.jpg

The Federation ship... had their own crystal crewmember... and HE's the one to join us? :retarded:
FTLi0023.jpg

Better get more power now that we have a cloak to run.
FTLi0024.jpg

Dang. Another store. Wonder if it has those cool burst crystals.
FTLi0025.jpg

Nope, just selling awesome crew. We got no real need for them though, and no money to spare. Though it does let us see their stats in the description on the right.
FTLi0026.jpg

Lets heal to full before we get to the quest beacon, in case it involves some brutal fight.
FTLi0027.jpg

Here goes nothing...
FTLi0028.jpg

:yeah:
FTLi0029.jpg

So awesome. :kfc:
FTLi0030.jpg

Lets show our gratitude by murdering lots of his kin.
FTLi0031.jpg

Gah! They're speciesist! How DARE they. Thats our job. :troll:
FTLi0032.jpg

Commencing insectoid rape protocol.
FTLi0033.jpg

LOL, they're so fucked.
FTLi0034.jpg

I mean, even if those all landed we'd have been fine.
FTLi0035.jpg

Moar crew? Can it be?
FTLi0036.jpg

Oh man, we're rolling in crystal dudes.
FTLi0037.jpg

Also in spare scrap. Time to get all these minor systems to level 2 so they can take a graze without failing.
FTLi0038.jpg

Rebels are here too somehow. Busy sector considering how hard it was for us to get here.
FTLi0039.jpg

We could use the crystal crew as boarders as well...
FTLi0040.jpg

But Azira and Nathan are so damned good at this shit.
FTLi0041.jpg

Though that level 2 medbay is going to be annoying. Lets see if our Heavy Crystal weapon can take it down. If it works like beam weapons, then I think it can hit for 1 or 2 damage?
FTLi0042.jpg

Nopte, it pinged the shield for one damage. Not impressive considering it takes 19 seconds to charge.
FTLi0043.jpg

Whatever, firebombs and mantises win the day, as per usual.
FTLi0044.jpg

May as well make the most of this place.
FTLi0045.jpg

Fodder ho!
FTLi0046.jpg

Beamed our guys into the medbay after firebombing it to stop them from just repairing it right away.
FTLi0047.jpg

But the medbay can easily handle both our damage and the fire, while our guys are burning and getting hit in melee. Not a good scenario for us.
FTLi0048.jpg

Well then, lets try these guys out instead.
FTLi0049.jpg

Crystal bullshit deployed.
FTLi0050.jpg

Firebomb also deployed, while you stupid fucks are trapped in here.
FTLi0051.jpg

Well, cutting it a bit close on our crew health, but a nice win nonetheless.
FTLi0052.jpg

We're swimming in fuel now too. Also, the fire we started is continuing to ravage their ship after we left, which I always find amusing.
FTLi0053.jpg

ANOTHER store? Must be Xmas already.
FTLi0054.jpg

No crystal stuff at all this time though. Meh.
FTLi0055.jpg

We'll grab the drone system and defense drone, to simplify fights against guys with bigass missiles.
FTLi0056.jpg

Selling useless system repair drone.
FTLi0057.jpg

And more energy, because we need tons now with all these systems installed.
FTLi0058.jpg

Why is this a special option? You can't GET here without a crystal crewmember.
FTLi0059.jpg

Well, yay I guess?
FTLi0060.jpg

Pretty fucking lame for a conditional reward in a late rare sector. Was hoping for some weapons.
FTLi0061.jpg

Well, exit time I think.
FTLi0062.jpg

More damsels in distress.
FTLi0063.jpg

Crystal pirates on a slug cruiser. Okaaay.
FTLi0064.jpg

No medbay, should be an easy win.
FTLi0065.jpg

Lets turn it into a royal rumble for good measure.
FTLi0066.jpg

Those ions would be pretty annoying without this cloak.
FTLi0067.jpg

Hurray for scrap!
FTLi0068.jpg

See? More crew than we can even hold. Bet it's another crystal too. But everyone we have is skilled, so fuck 'em.
FTLi0069.jpg

Small note here, even though our teleporter room only holds 2 at a time...
FTLi0070.jpg

You can teleport any number of stationary guys OUT of a room.
FTLi0071.jpg

Well, time to heal up and move on.
FTLi0072.jpg

Oh, and to spend more scrap.
FTLi0074.jpg

Looks good.
FTLi0075.jpg

Warping put us directly on a slug homeworld, not even a map screen popup.
FTLi0076.jpg

Distress beacon? Here? Fuck that shit.
FTLi0077.jpg

We're pretty much ready to end the game 2 sectors ago, so lets move along.
FTLi0078.jpg

Empty node. No sweat.
FTLi0079.jpg

Guess we'll have to fight this time.
FTLi0080.jpg

And our improved O2 system pays off bigtime.
FTLi0081.jpg

Stupid fighting in nebulas fucking our sensors.
FTLi0082.jpg

Time to try something cheeky.
FTLi0083.jpg

Crystalmen aboard...
FTLi0085.jpg

Door sealed, mebay destroyed. :yeah:
FTLi0086.jpg

By the time it wears off, we can beam in our mantises as well.
FTLi0087.jpg

Does not work out well for the enemy.
FTLi0088.jpg

Tons of scrap. Maybe we should hang around here a bit just to gather loot.
FTLi0089.jpg

Lets cap the teleporter, since it's obviously gonna be useful to send over 4 guys at a time.
FTLi0090.jpg

Grab the energy for it too.
FTLi0091.jpg

From now on our default plan is to send in the crystals first to kill the medbay, then the mantises to clean up.
FTLi0092.jpg

Hmmm, store. But we have little scrap and less need for a store.
FTLi0093.jpg

Selling junk anyways.
FTLi0094.jpg

Lets grab some missiles so we can be liberal with the firebombing when we want.
FTLi0095.jpg

Onwards!
FTLi0096.jpg

Evil sneaky slug bastards. Luckily we got a rockman.
FTLi0097.jpg

Saving throw vs poison easily passed. Time to fuck these guys up.
FTLi0098.jpg

Fucking cloakers too. :x
FTLi0099.jpg

Thats fine, we can cloak too.
FTLi0100.jpg
Hmm, boarding plan fail. Used the ability too late, they had a guy in the adjacent room run right in.
FTLi0101.jpg

Well, this still has potential.
FTLi0102.jpg

They can't handle all our guys at once anyways.
FTLi0103.jpg

Firebomb ready.
FTLi0104.jpg

No more medbay for you fuckers.
FTLi0105.jpg

And our evasion trolls their missiles and bombs.
FTLi0106.jpg

More loot!
FTLi0107.jpg

More prey awaits.
FTLi0108.jpg

Dread Pirate Nights eh?
FTLi0109.jpg

As if we'd ever say no.
FTLi0110.jpg

Oh, real scary, cloaking at us.
FTLi0111.jpg

No nebula to hide in this time.
FTLi0112.jpg

Lets try a different approach to the medbay thing.
FTLi0113.jpg

We'll lock the room next to it and let the mantises take it out.
FTLi0114.jpg

Perfect. Except for them hitting our ship with heavy lasers. Fucking cunts.
FTLi0115.jpg

Our guys getting roughed up a bit,

FTLi0116.jpg

but in the end it's another easy win with a huge reward.
FTLi0117.jpg

So much spare time.
FTLi0118.jpg

Well that'll solve that problem.
FTLi0119.jpg

Well, we found another squishy ship to raid.
FTLi0120.jpg

Or maybe we didn't. Fuck this.
FTLi0121.jpg

Time to leave. We can't beam through super shields and I've no interest in plinking it away with our piss poor lasers.
FTLi0122.jpg

Now this is more like it.
FTLi0123.jpg

Oh man, softest target we've seen in a long time.
FTLi0124.jpg

Mantises can handle this alone in the 2x2 room.
FTLi0125.jpg

Nice reward of course. And from the civvies?
FTLi0126.jpg

Another decent reward.
FTLi0127.jpg

We got plenty of scrap now. Lets end this shit.
FTLi0128.jpg

:flamesaw:
FTLi0129.jpg

We wish to speak with Blackfish. Wait. Wrong genre.
FTLi0130.jpg

Behold, the reason for our wanton destruction on the way here: really obvious secrets we had to deliver!
FTLi0131.jpg

10 fuel and a hull repair and we're on our way. Of course, we get no escors or anything. It'd just be unfair to attack their flagship with more than one ship at a time.
FTLi0132.jpg

Fortunately we're pretty much a flagship ourselves at this point.
FTLi0133.jpg

This last sector has slightly different rules than usual. First, there are repair stations, with will give us some free repairs if we visit them. (And guarantee no fighting.) Second, instead of an expanding wave of rebel influence, they just kind of randomly start controlling beacons. Third, the flagship we have to kill. Which moves around and shit, and if we let it jump 5 times, we lose. Fortunately, it jumps at half the speed we do.
FTLi0134.jpg

Of course, we can still encounter rebels on the way there, even before they control a beacon.
FTLi0135.jpg

Standard rape squad will work just fine.
FTLi0136.jpg

Add the insects...
FTLi0137.jpg

Fucking missile spammers hit our pilot!
FTLi0138.jpg

And our cloak. Both of which are level 2 and therefore pretty much not affected at all.
FTLi0139.jpg

Oh damn, Nelis almost bit the dust.
FTLi0140.jpg

We'll get them out of there and let Azira finish them off. While our O2 system burns down. Fucking missiles! :x
FTLi0141.jpg

84 scrap. Not too shabby at all.
FTLi0142.jpg

At this point it doesn't matter what we upgrade really. 3% more evasion? Sure. Weee.
FTLi0143.jpg

Huh, a store.
FTLi0144.jpg

Nothing worth buying of course. And we spent our scrap already besides.
FTLi0145.jpg

Well, it got us repaired. Where the fuck is that flagship headed?
FTLi0146.jpg

The beacon next to it doesn't even go anywhere. What the hell. Why did it warp over here?
FTLi0147.jpg

Well, doesn't change our plan at all really. Note the couple of beacons with !! marks. Those are rebel controlled now. If they had stores or whatever before, doesn't matter, now it's just a big rebel cruiser.
FTLi0148.jpg

Like this beacon actually.
FTLi0149.jpg

I've gotten better at this whole teleport-lockdown thing now.
FTLi0150.jpg

Of course the enemies want to board us too. Cute.
FTLi0151.jpg

They've got pretty good weapons too actually. Except they're all off synch and therefore not that dangerous to us at all.
FTLi0152.jpg

Full on boarding engaged.
FTLi0153.jpg

Crystal guy got level 2 fighting already. Not too shabby.
FTLi0154.jpg

Just like if you get caught in the rebel fleet elsewhere in the game, winning the fight only ever rewards you with a single fuel.
FTLi0155.jpg

Out of the frying pan and all that.
FTLi0156.jpg

Similar setup, except these guys have a scary missile.
FTLi0157.jpg

In fact, their weapons are annoying enough that I want to fuck them up before the medbay.
FTLi0158.jpg

Maybe we should have trapped a guy in here too though.
FTLi0159.jpg

Gah, our firebomb missed, and they managed to teleport their guys back before they died.
FTLi0160.jpg

And that fucking missile isn't even offline.
FTLi0161.jpg

Well, we can cloak it for the moment.
FTLi0162.jpg

Time for an all out brawl.
FTLi0163.jpg

I'm not sure we're winning it though :rpgcodex:
FTLi0164.jpg

I guess we were! Firebomb totally wasted too.
FTLi0165.jpg

Target acquired.
FTLi0166.jpg

Full power to EVERYTHING HOLY SHIT.

OH MAN. It took me hours of savescumming to beat the capship last time.

Really wanna see your strategy for this. Fucking drones fucked me up.

Hints for final fight.
Yep, missile launcher first, then the ion gun, last the triple laser. You can ignore the beam weapon in the first encounter.
Second phase, you need to keep someone on your own ship to deal with the constantly respawning boarding drone, but again focus on taking down the missile launcher. Keep the cloak handy for the drone spam. The ion gun and enemy cloak is disabled in the second phase.
Third phase is annoying with the super shield.. You need that gone before you can 'port your guys. Keep the cloak handy for either the first barrage of missiles or the heavy laser spam. Once the super shield is down, again take out the missile launcher. Beam weapon and drone control are both gone in the third phase.

I found it's a question of proper timing. The boss plays out the same every time, so if you know what's coming, it's manageable. Just bear in mind that it's three phases you need to go through! First time I fought the boss, I barely scraped through the first, as my targeting was all over the thing.

A very handy thing to remember is, the weapons are sealed off from the rest of the boss ship. Take them out, and they cannot be repaired in that phase, unless you kill off the entire crew. Should you do so, the boss turns on its AI, with the annoying habit of self-repair...
And I am so goddamn jealous that you managed to unlock the crystal cruiser. :x Nice job though. I hope to manage some time soon as well. I've started the game over about 20 times with the rock cruiser, aiming for the right setup of zones to go through. The times I got the zones right, not all events triggered. The game hates me, I'm sure.
Took the rock cruiser as I'm getting good with that, and the rock armour is handy for rescuing the stasis pod.

Hehe. I've already done the fight guys. You're all doing it wrong btw.

I did manage to cock things up near the end though. Just had to try something out.

*is disappointed*

As to the vote, well. I dunno. AI war?

I'm still burning with jealousy that you unlocked that crystal cruiser. :X

I just hope I manage to unlock it soon as well.

Update time!

FTLi0167.jpg

Fuckers have a cloak. Also, a fucking gigantic ship with like 40 systems and eleventy billion crew.
FTLi0168.jpg

So shit is basically fair. We start by porting Azira into their missile launcher controls. Since he's a mantis (and trained at that) he can easily overwhelm the single crewmember stationed there and destroy the system for us. If you lack mantises, two of pretty much anything but Engi's can do this just as well.
FTLi0169.jpg

Fucking missiles man. Their other weapons aren't much of a threat though.
FTLi0170.jpg

Oh come ON. I forgot we should be using the cloak to evade these missiles. They're only 1 damage each though, no biggie.
FTLi0171.jpg

Azira has finished his assassination and is working on the weapon system. Nathan is working on the beam in the next room over, and we've fire bombed the door system (since the fire won't spread worth shit with upgraded doors.)
FTLi0172.jpg

I forgot to mention, we've had the defense drone up this whole time as well, which is why I didn't bother cloaking. Now that they cloaked again we have to just chill for a bit.
FTLi0174.jpg

Finally started using our cloak to dodge shit.
FTLi0175.jpg

We send in a crystal dude to take out their ion weapons as well. This'll leave them basically helpless.
FTLi0176.jpg

Not that they can do much anyways, against 45% evasion and 4 shields.
FTLi0177.jpg

Now they're missiles are offline. They keep putting out our fires though.
FTLi0178.jpg

Damn, can crystal man not handle this? I thought he'd win for sure with the 25 extra hp.
FTLi0179.jpg

Close as fuck. We can't beam him out either because the enemy ship is cloaked.
FTLi0180.jpg

Nice! Victory and he levelled up.
FTLi0181.jpg

I decide to get him out of there and patched up right away (though it would have made more sense to let him finish fucking up the ion gun, he's totally safe there unless the O2 fails.)
FTLi0182.jpg

Our firebombing hasn't resulted in much of anything, they have too much crew for us to sustain a fire, and they repair shit real fast too.
FTLi0183.jpg

Lets leave it off for now.
FTLi0184.jpg

Dump the power into the teleporters and medbay, see if we can't invade the fuck out of them.
FTLi0185.jpg

Crystals into the medbay first.
FTLi0186.jpg

You can actually fire off the ability the instant they start teleporting, before they finish materializing.
FTLi0187.jpg

And the enemy has the only 4 slot medbay in the game that I'm aware of, which means...
FTLi0188.jpg

Well it would have meant we can send in the fucking mantises too, but fucking CLOAK ARGH.
FTLi0189.jpg

No dice. We did do some damage though.
FTLi0190.jpg

But we may as well try again with the proper setup. We're in no rush, they can't repair their weapons.
FTLi0191.jpg

Ok, this is not what I meant to do. This is pointless. They have like a level 3 medbay, even damaged it is still way too strong.
FTLi0193.jpg

Get the fuckers out.
FTLi0194.jpg

And then I fire bombed it, to stop them from repairing I guess? I'm just wasting time and resources here.
FTLi0195.jpg

Well, we got both to spare, so I guess that's fine.
FTLi0196.jpg

More cloaking. Note that we can't see the ship layout unless we have crew on board while they cloak.
FTLi0197.jpg

We needed time to heal anyways. Also our shields are getting really low.
FTLi0198.jpg

We'll cloak too to give the shields a chance to recover.
FTLi0199.jpg

Things working much better this time.
FTLi0200.jpg

Perfect, 4 of us in their medbay with a crystal lockdown in effect. I forgot to repower our shields though.
FTLi0201.jpg

Medbay down!
FTLi0202.jpg

And firebomb the cloak as a nice distraction while they try to fight us. I still haven't powered the shields though, and I can't adjust the power until the ion effect wears off.
FTLi0203.jpg

Lucky cunts. Argh.
FTLi0204.jpg

We're thrashing their crew though.
FTLi0205.jpg

And we can cloak too. :smug:
FTLi0206.jpg

And here goes their last crewmember not trapped in a weapon's station.
FTLi0207.jpg

This is basically checkmate right here. We have the run of the ship to destroy whatever system we want, and they have no weapons to stop us or ability to repair themselves.
FTLi0208.jpg

Those level 3 doors are keeping that fire totally contained though, so I beam some guys in to take down the door system.
FTLi0209.jpg

There we go.
FTLi0210.jpg

Now we can sit back and enjoy the show.
FTLi0211.jpg

Throw a firebomb at the shields to speed this up a bit.
FTLi0212.jpg

Oh yeah, thats the stuff.
FTLi0213.jpg

They have such a high powered O2 system that the fire can't deplete the O2 at all. it'll burn until the O2 goes down.
FTLi0214.jpg

I even firebomb their ion cannon for good measure.
FTLi0215.jpg

At this point we can just finish them off with our weak ass lasers. Which start a fire in their engines actually.
FTLi0216.jpg

Burn! BURN! :flamesaw:
FTLi0217.jpg

But the fuckers manage to warp (most of) their ship away before dying.
FTLi0218.jpg

And there goes phase one. We get a pittance of a reward, and the count down to catch the ship gets reset.
FTLi0219.jpg

Though, now it's so close that the count down is basically meaningless unless you intend to warp off to get repaired or something.
FTLi0220.jpg

This time it has no cloak and no ion cannon. All the other systems are repaired though. However... their crew is still dead. Except the one guy we left alive in the lasers. That makes this the easiest phase for us, honestly.
FTLi0221.jpg

Once again, we beam right to the missiles. 2 guys this time, to take it out faster. They do have drones attacking us as well this time though.
FTLi0222.jpg

But we can handle those easily, especially with a defense drone to shoot down boarder drones.
FTLi0223.jpg

And we firebomb on the shields.
FTLi0224.jpg

However, now it starts doing this 'power surge' bullshit. We get a warning a few seconds in advance, before-
FTLi0225.jpg

It swarms us with a ton of extra drones all at once.
FTLi0226.jpg

This is why people often consider the cloak to be vital for the end boss. We could weather it with our ship though, honestly. As long as the other weapons are down.
FTLi0227.jpg

Now, just like before, we sit back and let the fire do the work before pinging them to death with our lasers.
FTLi0228.jpg

Occasionally cloaking for the drone swarms.
FTLi0229.jpg

Level 1 cloak is best for this, since a longer cloak won't start recharging in time for the next power surge.
FTLi0230.jpg

Trollolol.
FTLi0231.jpg

We can laser down their normal drone system too, lessening the threat even further.
FTLi0233.jpg

Oh yeah, we never did get to try this fucker out did we? POW! Crystal to the medbay! Eat that fuckers!
FTLi0234.jpg

:mob:
FTLi0235.jpg

Of course, it limps away yet again.
FTLi0236.jpg

Hmm, no point in warping ahead of them. If we wait for a turn...
FTLi0237.jpg

Then we can jump right at the flagship again.
FTLi0238.jpg

You're ours rebel scum! : x
FTLi0239.jpg

Fucking sons of bitches have a super shield now.
FTLi0240.jpg

Takes us forever to whittle down with these lame weapons.
FTLi0241.jpg

Also, that superweapon they mentioned? This time their power surge can launch a volley of like 12 heavy lasers.
FTLi0242.jpg

Cloaking works wonders here too though, as does level 4 shields and high evasion.
FTLi0243.jpg

Super shields almost down, then we can beam aboard and firebomb some shit.
FTLi0244.jpg

Got the shield!
FTLi0245.jpg

Unfortunately, in my retard haze, I send Azira to finish off their last crew member, thinking I want him out of the way so I can light the ship on fire 100% for an achievement. Whoops.
FTLi0246.jpg

Now that the ship has no crew, it just repairs itself like an AI drone would. Gah.
FTLi0247.jpg

Whatever, it still can't put out fires.
FTLi0248.jpg

And it still can't really hurt us.
FTLi0249.jpg

FUCKING MISSILES. :rage:
FTLi0250.jpg

I don't even have our defense drone up of course. Derp.
FTLi0251.jpg

And our firebomb misses. Cute.
FTLi0252.jpg

Whatever, we'll take out the damned missiles with our other boarding party.
FTLi0253.jpg

Also, since the ship self repairs, technically we could just leave our boarders on the ship wrecking stuff for the hull damage until it blows up. With our crew on it. Want to make a noble sacrifice Azira? :troll:
FTLi0254.jpg

Oh, did I mention they get to reraise their super shield (which has 10 fucking points instead of the usual 5) with their power surges? Yeah, they can do that.
FTLi0255.jpg

Whatever, our guys are still on board. We can just chill and patch the system damage.
FTLi0256.jpg

Laser volley that bitches! Evasion ftw!
FTLi0257.jpg

We can't even teleport our guys back while that shield is up. Super annoying.
FTLi0258.jpg

Well, back to pinging away at it.
FTLi0260.jpg

If only we'd left at least one guy on board the main hull, he could be wrecking all sorts of shit right now.
FTLi0261.jpg

Their hull is trickling away though.
FTLi0262.jpg

And now their shield is gone. Again.
FTLi0263.jpg

:rage: I didn't even get to launch one firebomb. :(
FTLi0264.jpg

I did leave the crystals in the missile bay to keep it offline though, and we got the thing down again eventually.
FTLi0265.jpg

And now we got guys on the main ship.
FTLi0266.jpg

Uh, guys? Wreck the shields maybe?
FTLi0267.jpg

Firebombed the lasers and the piloting. If I get the missile compartment too...
FTLi0268.jpg

Gah.
FTLi0269.jpg

Well, hopefully I get the shield back down before Azira burns to death.
FTLi0270.jpg

Alright, here we go. The enemy has barely any hull left.
FTLi0271.jpg

One firebomb left.
FTLi0272.jpg

Azira is safe.
FTLi0273.jpg

Now we just wait for the fire to spread...
FTLi0274.jpg

Super shield won't save you now fuckers!
Interestingly, it seems the computer doesn't or cannot repair rooms that are on fire while in AI mode.
FTLi0275.jpg

DOH. Wasted our last firebomb while the shield was still up.
FTLi0276.jpg

BURN! Muahaha. And the crystal takes out the super shield.
FTLi0277.jpg

And now the O2 is getting fucked up. Can the fire spread to the rest of the engines in time to get our achievement?
FTLi0278.jpg

Almost...
FTLi0279.jpg

...there...
FTLi0280.jpg

Little more! O2 almost gone!
FTLi0281.jpg

Awww shit.
FTLi0282.jpg

Well fuck you then. You can eat lasers.
FTLi0283.jpg

:mca:
FTLi0284.jpg

So long rebel scum.
FTLi0285.jpg

:hero: to fallen crewmember Muckefuck as well.
FTLi0286.jpg

Not too shabby.
FTLi0287.jpg

Not my best score, but it made the top 3. A lot of my wins don't even break 4k score.
FTLi0288.jpg

New ship unlocked!
FTLi0289.jpg

Cool weapons and augments. And crew of course.

LP Complete!

I might come back to this and play more ships some day, but I think this is a good note to officially end on, and I'm not in the mood for more it it right now anyways.

===============================================================================

I'm gonna make a poll for what to LP next, but I figured I'd take some suggestions first. No guarantees that I'll actually put your suggestion in the poll of course, but if someone suggests something I hadn't thought of that I'd want to do I'll put it in. Anyways, current ideas for next LP are:

Nethack (As Random/Random until I win (Again, I'm quite spoiled))
AI Wars (Until we win or lose, unless I manage to lose really quickly. I'll turn on some random shit, which means I'll be at least semi blind. I've only won a couple of games of this and haven't seen most of the shit from the expansions.)
Lufia 2 (Fairly textbook jrpg, probably my favourite on the SNES)
Labyrinth of Touhou (I'll pick it up where I left off and finish it. I've beaten it once before. Mostly it'll be about strategy and tactics for boss fights, I won't cover the inane plot.)
SaGa Frontier (First one I ever started (and shortly abandoned, I don't think it's even in the playground) I could either pick this one back up or start as a different character. Probably play through just one character unless it gets really popular.)
Secret of Evermore (Old hack n slash/jrpg for the SNES. Pretty original, despite cloning the Secret of Mana engine.)
Iji (Side scrolling metroid style sort of indie game with rpg elements (stats) and RPG elements (C&C bitches!). Also RPGs (as in rocket launcher.) Not sure how I'd do a playthrough of this, maybe leave choices up to the audience. I've beaten it multiple times and seen most of the game.
Edit: I forgot one.
Transcendence (A sort of real time roguelike with you playing as a small fighter craft in space. Played through this a lot too, will probably play with the Network mod, which adds some interesting stuff.)

I also intend to put Ogre Battle and Star Ocean 2 up for vote at some point in the future, but they're both way too long for me to want to get into right now.

As a last note, I'm curious if there's anything you guys want me to change generally about the LPs. I was considering having a more set schedule for updating, or putting the updates in spoiler tags so the pages don't get to be a mile long with 500 images. Dunno if you guys would prefer any of that though.

Aha!

Crystal dudes make that way easier, that 4 spot medbay usually fucks over any useful boarding action, if you can take that out, working through the crew makes way more sense.

I generally find that taking out the medbay isn't a big problem by this point. The enemy crew is only human, so as long as you can spare 4 people to board the ship, you can take them on in a fair fight. And if you don't have any means of getting through shields or wearing them down to hurt systems (the medbay) before you board, I dunno how you'd even get this far honestly. If you can hurt the ship, you can hurt the medbay. And if you can hurt the medbay, you can kill the crew.

Yeah this game was kind of hell on the screenshots. Hmm.

Suggestions:
- Soundtrack
- [use quote] s
- drop nice pics inbetween
- no weaboo...

Next LP:
- Metal Something Tactics? The one in Azira's signature. Where he failed epically.
- Unity of Command ( I wanted to do it but I dont like work )
- Anything from here goes http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?forums/tcancer-news-content-comments.27/

I'm kinda leaning away from anything that requires a lot of troop management/logistics stuff right now. Brigandine already has enough of that. Although AI Wars is in the tcancer forum there and already on my list. I don't find it as much of a problem because you don't have to worry about keeping individual units alive (well, golems and shit, but those are nearly invincible anyways.) As for the no weeaboo... well I'm kind of hoping for the same. There's a lot of overlap between the weeaboo games there, so I figure the vote will get split and Nethack/AI Wars/Transcendence will win unless the weeaboos outnumber everyone by a lot or all want to see the same game by some odd chance.

Reposting the list of games here for easy access on a page without screenshots:

Nethack (As Random/Random until I win (Again, I'm quite spoiled))

Huh, I forgot to put Dark Souls on there? That's another one. Wouldn't be a full playthrough, closer to a speed run (skipping shit) and showing how to crush the game by knowledge rather than twitch skills.

Ah, a single question about this LP if I may?

In some screenshots we see you pinging another node some way off from where you're currently at, yet you're able to see the connections to said node. How does that work?

Maybe I should fiddle with them a bit then. STEAM says I've sunk 66 hours into the game so far (still no crystal cruiser  ) so might be about time?

Maybe.

If you want the cruiser real bad my best suggestion would be to pick the Redtail and just faceroll through the first sectors a lot, quitting if you either don't get the chamber in the first few sectors or if it'll be impossible to finish the quest (like no late red sectors that could be rock homeworld.)
