Grettings friends. Happy to see other people playing this game series. I put many hours in Genesis 16 bit version when was younger (Genghis Khan 2). Please can someone share this PC version? Is totally new for me. Shame not be traslated, but still, I want it. Thanks!
1. Here you go buddy. http://fullmotionvideo.free.fr/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1169

You'll find two download links there that contains the Original Iso and the PUK expansion pack. Use a Virtual-CD program like WinCDEmu to mount the isos. Install the OG then the PUK.

Then replace the ScenDat2 file with this https://yourfilestore.com/download/341658/Scedat2.zip.html (thanks to Lucumo) to fix the bugs.

Everything works except the music but you can use a youtube link to listen to the soundtrack. https://youtu.be/lbZsVmtbgrE?si=Koenz9NU0v_l8Hkw

I've also managed to use google translate to translate both the PC manual and in-game menus of the PS1 port so you can play the game.

1. Manual: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_6_xdBsuk4ZjpEZkjKvLGehIEQ0jgn9V/view?usp=drive_link
2. PS1 Menu Screenshots: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1n2lpBpqNwNawubni4vTEf6A_L2cw_gPs/view?usp=drive_link

Enjoy the game.

I had already seen that post, friend, but those links died a long time ago, they are from July 2021, that's why I asked for someone who could share them who is active here. I had also already seen your translations. I read your post on CDRomance and then I found you here. Could you upload them?

Thanks for the quick reply. Get it while it's hot, reply quickly so that I can quickly fix any problems and don't forget to archive it as well and spread the word to anyone interested in the game.

1. Here's the iso for Genghis Khan IV. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sv8evMmWmuF6A5l3qKy2FTeehYGp-e_5/view?usp=sharing

2. Here's the iso for the PUK. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SyEFWYlMRKh6BX1084RxuOB2XTP-orK0/view?usp=sharing

3. And here's the partial english translation that only works if you only have the OG version installed and not the PUK. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cf3Kmr2lj_3eQivt0XCvYRfYeAflWwXB/view?usp=sharing

Be sure to give a screenshot of the game once everything is okay.

Thanks buddy. Have you studied the method that could be used to translate the game? Maybe among several of us we could achieve the project.

Unfortunately no and I sadly don't have free time anymore to even help but the Tokugawa Corporate thread I linked to you before had the posters there mentioning their methods of partial translating the text, the programs needed (Resourcehacker, UltraEdit), that you need someone knowledgable in hacking to translate hardcoded text. Someone there has even managed to extract all the text from the game and it can be downloaded.

For me, I had to do the painful job of taking screenshots of the menus and use the fancy feature of Google Translate's image translation and use Photoshop to add the translated text to the screenshots.

Best of luck to you if you're planning on going fully translating the game. The game is hidden gem that deserves to be brought to light.

I've finally managed to compile the various information and guides regarding Genghis Khan IV from the various websites in the JP internet, (translated from DeepL, an online machine translation that better than Google Translate but lacks the ability to directly translate images) into one big txt file. It's been a great help in understanding the game's underlying mechanics that manual neglects to mention.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ebSEu-Ae3DlT14sBFFhYkrnUtB6xdkn6/view?usp=drivesdk

And here are the other Koei games that I've also painstakingly machine translated their menus, tutorial and Glossary.

The Nintendo DS port of Nobunaga's Ambition Reppuden

Using the same engine as Genghis Khan IV, Reppuden is basically the game which introduced many familar mechanics seen in the modern Nobunaga's Ambition games like Rise to Power and Iron Triangle.

Here's the menu translation:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sndPcCCmKZVP6lCEasf0Wiu-AhhQ29lD/view?usp=drivesdk

Item translation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZBrTMy-OsSas0Lr4RWdQqoEoULj2I6WH/view?usp=drivesdk

In-game glossary translation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CooYsVP-Vui2pqHKHfwFuoE5SnaZ8eG5/view?usp=drivesdk

In-game tutorial translation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1z_xQFLE1wR-0LNirvcjQPxHGVSNHCUSV/view?usp=drivesdk

Romance of the Three Kingdoms V Nintendo DS port: This game is the one of two games in the series which has not accquired an english translation, the other is RoTK12(considered the worse game in the series). A pity that V is only one of the best games in the series and like Reppuden, it too manages to introduce mechanics which are used in the modern titles.

Here's the menu translation: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-hrvzVzt8knJkfzkPmD27gTea49hFJJf/view?usp=drivesdk

and here's the in-game glossary:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gWV0fMTIvoj4_NXxrYU_dlFToPdHkYHb/view?usp=drivesdk

It's not as good as an actual translation but hoping the people who interested in these games but lack the time to learn Japanese would be able to properly play it and enjoy it as I did.

Looking at all these, I'm surprised that I actually did all this and it was due to my love of Koei games that braved to the tedious effort of machine translating bit by bit of screenshots. I hope these translations have help attract interest in this games. These are too good be locked in the wall of obscurity.

Seeing how that my previous completed Let's Play for Genghis Khan IV is now a few searches away when you google the game, I've updated the first page new download links to the game itself due to the original link expiring but also new download links to the PC soundtrack due to the youtube video holding it also expired as well.

Upon revisitng the page, I only just found out that the posters there were actually voting for the Kingdom of Poland as an option when they referred to it as Potatoland and I mistook them for voting for Tibet insead. Shame, that would have been an interesting playthrough due to Krakov being the poorest cultured city in Europe with weak starting officers but can recruit units such as Heavy Infantry and Catapults.

After a long period of dormancy, I can finally continue the LP of Genghis Khan IV.

gTuM3Ll.png

Genghis Khan IV PC OST- East Asian Strategy

The last chapter had the Kamakura Shogunate launch a rapid invasion of the Mongol Yuan Dynasty of China to liberate Northern China from them, which managed to be a mostly successful operation that led to the death of Kublai Khan and the occupation of four Yuan cities that also included their capital, Dadu.

n2ZOh7O.png

Still, the Yuan still has the traditional Mongolian capital of Kharakorum (top), which threatens to put the newly liberated lands in peril. Thankfully, they are caught in a war against Qaidu and the Ogudei Khanate to the west, and they are unable to immediately deal with the Nipponese threat. Instead, Hojo Tokimune is going to be busy managing the newly liberated lands while dealing with guerilla attacks from the remaining Yuan cities in China.

GfYUyva.png

9qETAi3.png

RQ2xI5Q.png

The first few turns are spent on reconstruction and reordering officers from city to city while I gather my strongest officers in the city of Linan and send them on their way to finally crush the Yuan residents in China in form of the cities of Chengdu and Huining.

cdMjCpJ.png

i0XnNl9.png

igWiF0d.png

The first army reaches the ancient Jurchen Jin Dynasty capital far in the woods, protected by a weak Yuan prince who decides to bail and have another officer who's barely stronger than him do the job of protecting the city.

YoCnFMq.png

Dnsu2yv.png

mXBFq8y.png

While the officer is weak and the city lacks the horse resource that lets them field cavalry units, the Yuan still has cannon units to spare, which makes siege battles a threat. For starters, the beginning where the Kamakura forces break through the gate while using the confuse tactic to immobilize the cannon units starts off well, but a few lucky blasts from the Yuan led to a Samurai unit going berserk and two in flames, and I barely won the battle.

Labels: Left Column from the top: War, Intelligence, Politics. Upper Right Column from the top: Unit Aptitudes of Infantry, Archers, Cavalry and Navy. Lower Right Column from the Top left clockwise: Mobility, Charge, Rapid Fire, Arson, Castle Attack, Ambush

Meanwhile, the attack on Chengdu finally begins, and as I expected, rather than use another mediocre Yuan prince to defend the city, they choose the one man who's even more dangerous, Kublai himself, Bayan. His stats are high, and besides being in the navy, he has the deadly combination of rapid fire (arrow attacks hit twice instead of once) and arson (fire arrows). This will be a tough battle.

Genghis Khan IV PC OST- Siege Battle

1y6SxY2.png

dC2QkjV.png

90qMEw4.png

And it was. By the time the Kamakura forces managed to breakthrough the city gates, the crossbowmen and cannon units, alongside Bayan's skilled, burned and confused them so badly that they were whittled down to the point that the siege battle ended in a bitter draw with heavy casualties from the Kamakura force. Tokimune himself will have to deal with Bayan, but dragging siege equipment into the dense forests of Chengdu isn't going to be fun.

2IQIVTy.png

Meanwhile, in North Africa, the Marinid Sultanate conquers the city of Tunis from the Hafsid Caliphate, bringing an end to their existence.

CYYfHkE.png

itnJbqz.png

rW2MxiM.png

After raising the loyalty of some of the Chinese officers at Dadu, Tokimune himself rides out to deal with Chengdu once and for all since Karakorum is still busy dealing with the Ogudei Khanate to take advantage of his absence.

Genghis Khan IV PC OST- Army Defense

g3UIy1O.png

wwOorJt.png

G2ap7qF.png

mVResgT.png

The city forms a spirited defense by sending armies to intercept the approaching Kamakura army and protect the city, but the outcome of having only infantry and crossbowmen in their armies while I field Samurai cavalry is predictable. Still, they keep throwing army after army, so I have to be careful to minimize casualties by finishing the battles as quickly as possible.

Hey, Hey! I'm Hojo Tokimune of the Kamakura Shogunate! It's time to battle!

bERiApg.png

Whatever you say, Hojo Tokimune! I'll get my revenge on you!

After cutting past the cannon fodder, finally the Kamakura army prepares to besiege Chengdu, and Bayan again commands the defense.

gVSPEYW.png

atG3euG.png

wA8op2Y.png

Good joke, I'd rather die than serve the Kamakura Shogunate.

The battle starts with Tokimune's cannon instantly destroying the gates of Chengdu with one shot while the rest of the army closes in. Bayan's forces let loose with a fury of fire arrows and cannon fire, but being limited to only 600 men finally shows their limits. Soon, I overwhelm the garrison, and the city of Chengdu falls to the Shogunate, and with it ends the Mongol influence over China.

Art of War by Sun Tzu.

All of the officers inside were put to the sword, including Bayan and the current leader of the Yuan, and I've even acquired a cultural item from them.

I've updated the OP to reflect the PC version and include the info and the many resources I've provided in my previous Let's Play of Genghis Khan IV.

And now I require the counsel of the Codexers watching this LP.

With the Yuan ousted from China and reduced to a rump state in Mongolia who's too busy fighting the Ogudei Khanate and they are considerably far away to boot, the Kamakura Shogunate is going to be busy reorganizing the newly conquered liberated territories but eventually I'll be going west conquer spread Japanese culture over the world.

From what path should I go to?

3cN1f8p.png

Scenario 2 map at the beginning of the game for faction reference.

x34QnKJ.png

Scenario 2 map current situation as of Chapter 6.

Should I finish the Yuans at Karakorum and go to Central Asia but risk the other Mongol factions into putting aside their differences and attack the upstart Japanese?

or should I go to India through Vietnam to establish new Japanese cities in the lands, acquire unique cultural items and recruit elephant units into the roster?

While I think dealing with the mongols is the more prudent choice, I'll say head to India for those cultural relics.

Can always found a new city in the direction of Central Asia. But yeah, I'm for finishing off the Yuan menace (in addition to the other Mongols).

Genghis Khan IV PC OST- East Asian Strategy

sRm0PZP.png

The last chapter had the Kamakura Shogunate finally getting rid of the last remaining remnants of the Yuan Dynasty out of China for good. Now Hojo Tokimune is going to endure the long battle of managing the newly conquered territories.

yUCHQyF.png

Genghis Khan IV PC OST - Banquet

In both the cities of China and Japan, the people toast of being freed from the Mongol yoke, raising the loyalty of newly recruited Yuan officers, while Tokimune sends his sons back to Japan to recruit more Japanese officers, knowing that the constant trade routes between China and Japan have given the mainland new knowledge and culture. Aside from wife-loving, banquets are for increasing the loyalty of your officers, although only the ruler can increase loyalty in high numbers, and the increases get lower the more foreign the officers are.

fC4kaQM.png

Meanwhile, in Eastern Europe, the Tartar Yoke is made permanent as Novgorod falls to the Kipchak Khanate. I'm still baffled by the bizarre design choice of certain countries not getting cavalry units just because they don't have the horse resource.

TPWO3D7.png

O8iTLlH.png

While Tokimune and his forces return to Beijing (formerly the Mongol given name Dadu), a new officer is sent to governor Chengdu. Also, Tokimune's main wife and his harem decide to spend the treasury due them being neglected by the Shogun for far too long. The UI display when moving officers only displays the name of the officers and not their stats and skills; you have to separately display the window officer list for that city. It's rather tedious, and it's one of the few things the PS1 port improves upon.

sPJ50xn.png

An Il-Khanate city falls to the Chagatai Khanate, as the Illkhanate is being slowly crushed by both its rival Khanate and its nemesis, the Mamluk Sultanate.

H7FNl5O.png

o4DOXTe.png

NBvFAWS.png

Once Tokimune returns to the capital, he calms down his royal, ethnically diverse harem consisting of his Japanese wife and multiple Chinese and Mongol princesses and spends the night in vigorous lovemaking. It's funny how they downgraded the sex animation here, only to bring it back for the PS1 version, although it's in silhouette.

8Pp6P3r.png

With the Yuan still fiercely fighting the Ogudei Khanate, the Kamakura Shogunate enters a period of peace as Tokimune manages the government and plots his next move.

fd7fZds.png

DDaor53.png

Meanwhile, in the West, the Mamluks create another new city in Anatolia, prompting the Eastern Roman Empire into attacking the Islamic state before they can expand even further.

oYbCe5j.png

And a new Mongol invasion of Europe has begun with the Kipchak Khanate attacking the Hungarians by taking over the former Polish capital of Krakov.

biYliLo.png

While in Southeast Asia, the Burmese Kingdom of Pagan attacks the Vietnamese Tran Dynasty, their elephant armies marching at Hanoi.

After installing the Japanese Emperor as the new Son of Heaven (while the Hojo clan is "acting" as the regents), Tokimune notices the Vietnam-Burmese war brewing at the bottom of his borders and decides to intervene by sending an army led by one of his sons to punish the barbarian aggressor while sending a diplomat in order to welcome the fledgling Vietnamese kingdom as a vassal. Also, an event triggers in which one of Tokimune's Chinese officers performs some fortune telling, predicting that Tibet is going to go through rough times and Tokimune planning for the future of Tibet as a result.

Genghis Khan IV PC OST - Diplomacy

OtoDVDj.png

skh5aFf.png

cgvcCfJ.png

By the time the Shogunate armies arrived, though, the Dai Viet had routed the forces of Pagan, and apparently they had rudely rejected the Shogunate's offers of friendly vassalship. This and the rather shabby state of their capital, Hanoi, call for a more forceful approach.

T4oKMny.png

Meanwhile, the raising of cultural levels through trade in Linan has given the Kamakura Shogunate a new cultural item, the Phags-pa script, an alphabet designed for Kublai Khan as an official language for the Yuan Dynasty although it wasn't popular among both of his subjects and the nobility but it saw use as official script for the dynasty. It has a high academic bonus and raises the academic culture level of every existing city in the Shogunate.

A8E94gG.png

Meanwhile, in Eastern Europe, the Hungarians retake Krakov from the Kipchak Khanate and several turns later the Khanate retakes the city again in a vicious back and forth. Poor Poland.

ZLW4wu8.png

nRvpGya.png

pshUQFK.png

Also, Hojo Tokimune dreams that an ancient Chinese conqueror considers him as the one who will end the turmoil of the land and raises the culture level of Dadu by 5.

Genghis Khan IV PC OST - Army Attack

The Shogunate armies immediately attack the primitive Dai Viet forces, whose light infantry and bowmen are simply no match for the cavalry units.

Several turns later, the siege of Hanoi has begun, and the battle is essentially a forgone conclusion due to the vast superiority in strength both in military and personnel, although the Vietnamese did put in some fighting in the end. Hanoi is liberated from its inadaquate king, and the Kamakura Shogunate acquires the Champa Rice cultural item, which doubles the amount of harvest earned in every city the Shogunate has.

1xvLi5b.png

s9FetW6.png

LyOppxB.png

Meanwhile, in the Shogunate, as the cities of Beijing and Linan became centers of fine weapons and academic learning as a result of a developed trade route, newly recruited officers and Japanese settlers set out to create a new city on the Chinese mainland.

f6KamLm.png

zq8MVzG.png

rxKEa3L.png

Back in the recently conquered city of Hanoi, Pagan forces march towards the city and prepare to besiege it despite being under Shogunate control. Despite the road to China still being incomplete and the occupying forces disbanding their cavalry units, what they have available will be enough to deal with them.

tVTND0I.png

The elephants are surprising tough to deal with, though but thankfully one of officers has the Ambush skill for his light infantry.

lDu2QGk.png

ULYDPwf.png

While a hurricane hits the Kingdom of Pagan that destroys some of its facilities, the Japanese settlers have created a new city near Dadu; it is called Nanjing, and aside from being able to recruit Japanese officers easily, they will be a good deterrent to fight off the Yuan (if they're even able to end their fight against the Ogudei Khanate) to due being near the horse resources to provide Samurai cavalry units.

yE3cqy4.png

aM99t52.png

The Kingdom of Pagan sends another elephant invasion force, but with the road project almost complete, it's only a matter of time before the Shogunate takes the fight to their lands instead to liberate them from their incompetent king, Kyawswa.

Chapter 8: The old sun sets as a new sun rises (1305–1312).

zpCw54q.png

6vvw6yr.png

The last chapter had the Kamakura Shogunate tackling the challenges of governing the newly liberated territories of China and the arrival of Japanese immigrants to establish a new city on the mainland while restoring order in Southeast Asia by starting with the liberation of Vietnam and soon the Kingdom of Pagan.

DZ4jUh6.png

R7oXHb0.png

TXU1Df5.png

With the city of Hanoi having been fully restored, the Shogunate expedition army can deal with the invading forces of Pagan while the road to China has finally been built, and now the workers are even going to work harder to build the military road to the Kingdom of Pagan straight through the jungles of Southeast Asia.

LxNdp6h.png

g1lcWXn.png

Meanwhile, in China, the Japanese city of Nanjing has been fully built, and Tokimune awaits the completion of the road so that it can trade with both Dadu and Linan to raise its culture level to the highest possible level to ensure the Japanese citizens there receive the highest education and further expand it through the use of facilities.

Meanwhile, in Europe, a unique event takes place.

6MVZvJj.png

Gessler made Tell's son stand under an apple tree and placed an apple on his head.

kh3mjDE.png

Gessler: Shoot that apple with a bow.

Tell asked for forgiveness but Gessler would not listen. As more villagers gathered around him, Tell made up his mind and rigged an arrow.

The arrow hit the apple perfectly.

0yyXV61.png

Amid the cheers of the villagers, Tell and his son tried to leave the scene but...

Gessler: Wait a minute. You have another arrow, but what are you planning to do with it?

William Tell: If I had failed, I was going to shoot you with this arrow.

Gessler: What!? Take this man away and throw him in jail!

In this way, Tell was captured. However, the magistrate's lawlessness led the villagers to rebel.

Farmer: Defeat the magistrate and rescue Tell!

While Tell was being taken away, he saw an opening and succeeded in escaping.

Farmer: Oh, Tell! Are you okay? I brought your bow.

Tell received the bow and waited for Magistrate Gessler to arrive. Eventually, Magistrate Gessler appeared on the forest path.

sQycXXv.png

Gessler: Gah!

mrudjiU.png

William Tell becomes a free officer available in Western Europe. He has a high war skiill, an S-rank in commanding archer units and has the Rapid Fire skill to make them hurt but an E-rank in commanding other units and his Politics skill is miserably low.

Back in China, Tokimune celebrates as two sons have come of age, one a full-blood Japanese and the other a Han Chinese, and are battle-ready thanks to Tokimune's fine bloodline and the high cultural background of Dadu, as they will be sent to Hanoi to help their elder brother liberate the Kingdom of Pagan.

In the Middle East, the Il-Khanate capital of Tabriz falls to the Chagatai Khanate, only for the Mamluke Sultanate to take it back the next turn, and a new war begins as two former allies fight it out, while in China, Tibet of all countries conquers the Ogudei occupied city of Dunhuang while the later and the Yuans are locked in a stalemate.

xKy959f.png

After dealing with a strong Pagan army commanded by a son-in-law general, the two reinforcement armies commanded by the newly commanded princes have arrived, and the liberation of Pagan begins. However, a few turns later...

Hojo Tokimune, King of Japan and the Mongol-Slayer dies at the age of 34.

Ultimately, the position of regent goes to the most talented of his sons, but it sparks rebellion among some of the cities of the Kamakura Shogunate, including the native city of Hirazumi, but that will be soon dealt with as an army is raised to restore order.

Du5mNgC.png

The new ruler change does bring a negative change as the many sons of Hojo Tokimune are demoted to relative generals, reducing their armies from 1000 men per unit to 800 men, which complicates the Pagan liberation force.

As the rebellious cities are brought under control, two through liberation and the other with the rebel leader suddenly dying that the city became vacant, the Shogunate armies finally enter the Kingdom of Pagan after struggling for weeks in the jungles and a few turns later besiege the city of Pagan itself. The old and incompetent ruler died, and a younger and more competent, if not average, son with an astonishing number of domestic and battle skills took the throne while the force was on the way, but it mattered little as the Shogunate demanded the liberation of Pagan for the safety of the Shogunate.

The battle starts poorly as the rains prevent the use of cannons while the Pagan ruler rains fire arrows at the Shogunate troops as the batters through the gates. Still, the battle is drawn out until the rains stop and the cannons fire upon the city, target the command unit, and bring it down a couple of turns later. The city of Pagan falls, but the ruler who fought admirably is given the choice of being let go.

However, the Indian Lords of the Delhi Sultanate and the Hindu Dynasties take notice of the kingdom's fall and reacting accordingly...

In India, the Delhi Sultanate and the Hindu Dynasties, which have continually fought each other with little to no resolutions, have seen the fall of Pagan and joined forces to defeat the invading Kamakura Shogunate. In response, the Shogunate forces in Pagan repaired the walls of the city while the road from Hanoi was being constructed. Given the fact that the two Indian countries have spent half of century pillaging each other to the point they have expanded much and the fact that it's along way from South-East Asia to India, the Shogunate has little respect for the primitive Indians.

After a long series of turns where I recruit new officers and raise the loyalty of old ones through banquets in China, the Indian alliance forces finally reach Pagan, and thanks to the road being delayed due to the original builder dying half way through, the Hojo nobility commands the first Japanese elephant corps to fight them off.

Back in Asia, the Kamakura Shogunate wages war on two fronts, while the Southeast Asian forces easily defend against the Indian alliance between the Delhi Sultanate and the Hindu Dynasties, whose constant warfare amongst themselves has left them far too weak to pose a threat, while the King of Japan readies to besiege Karakorum, the capital of the Yuan, and the Mongols as a whole, as the bulk of the Yuans are busy fighting the Ogudei Khanate.

The siege battle is barely worth mentioning as the current Yuan khanate is so weak that the King of Japan is able to completely paralyze his entire troops with a few uses of the confused tactics, and after repeated canon fire, the command unit is destroyed, the rest of the garrison surrenders, and the city of Karakorum falls to the Shogunate.

The limits of relying on screenshot translations and muscle memory to play the game, the poor UI when you have to move officers from one city to the next and the huge amount of cities and their vast distance to each other means I tend to make things quick and simple by not having too many units to move around.

The real battle of GKIV is the loads of micromanagement once you've become a world empire.

For the people who been following for this far, I'm quite thankful for it.

In honesty, I'm genuinely surprised that my current LP actually has a following given how this is basically my first time doing this and playing an extremely obscure Japanese game that only a handful would have even known and I don't know the language. All I wanted when I first began planning to LP this game was to promote it like hell given how painfully underrated this is and I just want people to love it just as much as I do.

Anyway.

Genghis Khan IV PC OST - Mongolian Strategy

The last chapter had the Kamakura Shogunate experiencing major events: the death of its starting ruler, Hojo Tokimune; his successor crushing minor rebellious cities upon his accession; and the conquest of Pagan, leading to the Indian states of the Delhi Sultanate and the Hindu Dynasties joining forces to combat the invading Japanese; and the conquest of the Yuan and Mongol capital of Karakorum.

With the fall of Karakorum to the Kamakura Shogunate, the King of Japan invites all of the officers of China to Dadu to celebrate a banquet in honor of the occasion.

Meanwhile, in Pagan, the roadwork is hastened, with more workers ordered to help out while the Indian alliance forces are out of sight.

While the ruler celebrates the grand banquet and the city of Karakorum is refortified. Meanwhile, in Europe, things are heating up as the Marinid Sultanate launches an invasion of Paris while the Kingdom of Sicily attacks and conquers the Holy Roman Empire's city of Genoa. The Shogunate forces, bolstered by the occupation force of Karakorum, besiege the Ogudei capital of Emir. The commander of the Emir garrison has a low war stat but a passable INT stat, a high skill in commanding cavalry, and cannon units alongside the Mongolian cavalry.

l2ySPzx.png

With the focus rushing them before they could put up a defense, the shogunate forces did not bring their own cannons, which unfortunately was a terrible mistake as the defenders successfully neutralized the numerical superiority of the shogunate forces using cannon fire while replacing the mongol units to further delay the attackers, forcing a draw that resulted in heavy shogunate losses, but Emir's defenses have been lowered.

RQBnTdT.png

xrUMELm.png

1TMjqhR.png

The Shogunate forces regroup and surround Emir for the second siege, confident that their full strength will overwhelm the already weak fortifications of the city, but they get a nasty surprise as the previous garrison commander is replaced by Alauddin Khalji, a powerful Indian officer with high stats and skills such as mobility and rapid fire, but thankfully no arson. Worse is that he complements his cannon units with crossbowmen that have a longer range and atk.

Unfortunately, the Shogunate forces in Central Asia suffer a defeat while defending against the Ogudei Khanate forces under Khalji thanks to the CO unit going berserk and killing itself by attacking a stronger unit while depleted. Thankfully, the Hojo relative escapes with his life in tact, and the enemy only won a pyhric victory due to the Ogudei units being too depleted to continue their attack.

The Shogunate forces finally arrive at the city of Delhi, currently under attack by the Hindu Dynasties, while the Shogunate forces in Emir fend off another Ogudei attack and still release Klauji. The next turn has the Shogunate forces take out the Delhi units protecting the city and then besiege the city.

NPQzTdP.png

WOPan7L.png

5ZrIzR5.png

The Delhi Sultan has a good war stat and an average int stat, and he has the Charge and Rapidfire skill that makes his elephant units and shortbowmen a bit more dangerous than his average stats imply. Still, the siege goes well with the Shogunate forces breaking down the gates and enduring arrowfire, and ironically, the size of the royal army prevents the Sultan from replenishing his forces; eventually, the CO unit dies, not from Morale depletion, ensuring the conquest of Delhi.

The Shogunate forces in Emir head to the Ogudei capital to finish off the flegling khanate once and for all while dealing with a rare Tibetian attack on Karakorum. The Shogunate forces have begun besieging the last Ogudei city, and with their ace Klauji out in the field, it will make the siege even easier. The Ogudei Khan is rather average in everything in stats and unit rank with no skills.

Back in Japan, a historical officer promotes himself to the Shogunate.

He is Nitta Yoshisada, a famous samurai military figure who helped bring the end of the Kamakura Shogunate and the Hojo clan and supported the rebellious Emperor Go-Daigo into taking control of Japan. He later fought future Ashikaga Shogun Takauji in a series of battles and was ultimately defeated and killed as a result. He'll be valuable asset of the Hojo clan.

The garrison commander is a Tibetan prince who has an unusually high war stature but poor intelligence and a good set of skills (arson, city assault, and ambush), but Tibet's unit selection is limited only to light infantry and shortbowmen.

With just a simple use of the confuse tactic, it doesn't take long for the Tibetian garrison to be utterly paralyzed into immobility, and the shogunate forces easily break their way into the city, achieve an easy victory, and prepare for a march against their capital of Llhasa.

Another historical Japanese officer promotes himself to the Hojo. His name is Kusunoki Masahige, another famous samurai military leader loyal to Emperor Go-Daigo and dealt a vicious defeat to Ashikaga Takauji alongside Nitta. However, the Emperor ordered him to attack Takauji's superior forces in an open battlefield rather than flee the capital and use Masahige's other tactics such as trapping him or convincing Takauji to join their side. Ultimately Kusunoki obeyed the Emperor's foolish order out of loyalty and died a heroic death against Takauji's forces. He'll be an extremely powerful asset and a candidate for being made a son-in-law general.

Genghis Khan IV PC OST- Mongolian Strategy

During the last chapter, the world of Eurasia was rapidly changing. The Kamakura Shogunate expands westward as it triumphs over both the Mongols and the Indians, and the forces of Islam rise further west as they threaten to engulf Europe. Sensing the formidable might of Islam, the King of Japan signs an alliance with one of the Khans in Central Asia to fight them off while finishing the total conquest of India and China.

7IeVGWI.png

The Europeans aren't backing down against the Islamic threat too lightly, as the Kingdom of Sicily retakes Genoa from the Marinids and William Tell leads the offensive to beat them back while London is under attack as the Marinid forces in Paris move to the British Isles.

The Prince of Japan, whose gambit to quickly take over the Tibetian city of Lhasa failed, desperately tries to escape the closing jaws of the returning Tibetian arimes.

The nearest Tibetan army strikes first under heavy rain. While the armies and generals of Tibet are poorly armed and mediocre at best, A battle of attrition is deadly, and even the basic infantry unit can surround and simultaneously use a surround attack to make up for their weakness, as shown when a Samurai unit falsely preys and is confused in the process.

Next turn, Masanari engages in a battle against the powerful officer. Masanari's samurai kills the CO unit, but he manages to escape.

Meanwhile, in Japan, the last historical Japanese officer hires himself for the Shogunate. His name is Ashikaga Takauji, the 1st Shogun of the Ashikaga Shogunate. He was sent by the Hojo clan with a massive army to defeat the rebellious Emperor Go-Daigo but decided to side with him for mysterious reasons, effectively dooming the Hojo and ending the Kamakura Shogunate. He later rebelled against Go-Daigo by supporting another rebellious Emperor, defeated the clans loyal to him, and established his very own shogunate but dooming the country to a civil cold-war as the Northern Court established by Takauji and the Southern Court led by Go-Daigo battle in both warfare and intrigue until the 3rd Ashikaga Shogun, Yoshimitsu resolves it.

He's a powerful officer, and he sent him to Dadu to meet with the King of Japan.

Genghis Khan IV PC OST - Islamic Strategy

LYQbUnx.png

The Kamakura Shogunate in the last chapter has completely dominated the East with the conquest of Tibet and the Hindu Dynasties and now turns to the west by aiding the struggling Chagatai Khanate against the ever-expanding power of the Mamlukes. However, the Mamluks in turn announced a Jihad against the Rising Sun, forging an alliance with the Marinid Sultanate of North Africa, while wealth flows and volunteers flocked all over the country to join the offensive.

VCyorLg.png

3L00FyY.png

Upon the liberation of Nishapur and the announcement of Jihad by the Mamlukes, the Shogunate forces rebuild the city defenses while awaiting reinforcements from the city of Emir in the form of the Hojo princes, who just recently came of age.

The Shogunate has also renewed their alliance with the Chagatai Khanate, but convincing their armies to join forces with mine will take some time due to Emir running low on funds and the King of Japan deciding to directly convince them with wealth.

The armies of Islam have arrived, and the Hojo forces led by Masanari fight bravely but barely manage to escape with their own lives when the fanatical Muslims aggressively attack his army and whittle their numbers, although they refrained from attacking the city itself.

The three Hojo heirs have finally arrived in Nishapur, prompting the Shogunate armies in the city to sally and attack the closest Mamluk army. The 1st prince and Masanari target the CO unit and force the Mamluke officer to join them, but they fail to capture the 2nd army.

EL0DQ5k.png

bpJbhaG.png

hhOuCF7.png

The Mamluk counterattack is relentless, with their armies just directly attacking the Shogunate armies that've been heavily damaged and attacking that weak point relentlessly despite losing army after army. The shogunate commanders are forced to directly attack the CO unit of their armies, hoping that they force these fanatical bands to lose faith and hopelessly scatter.

Having survived the relentless assault, the Shogunate forces strike back against the Mamluke hordes, relying on killing the CO units as quickly as possible to bring the battle to an end without too many casualties and hoping their reinforcement units are killed off as well. It works, and the mighty Islamic host has been depleted rapidly.

The Mamluke forces were depleted, and the Shogunate forces easily finished off the remaining stragglers. Seeing few and disorganized Mamluke armies, the Shogunate forces launch a direct attack on the Mamluk cities, only to find out that the mountain range provides an effective defense, and another Mamluke mass attack begins, forcing the armies into a hasty retreat. Yet more rounds of decapitating the co-unit and the difficult terrain makes things more difficult to quickly end the battle

Thanfully, the diplomatic actions paid off as Chagatai armies attacked the Mamluke forces at sea and the Shogunate princes decided to immediately attack the Mamluke cities before another wave came out while Masanari and Nitta defended Nishipur. As the princes' armies draw near the city, the mamlukes swarm the army like nooses.

C5QeFoU.png

The garrison command is nothing special besides his rapid fire skill, but the reinforcement unit has a good war stat and has the arson skill. Thankfully, his Mongolian cavalry's fire arrows failed to burn the samurai units, allowing the prince's units to directly charge the CO unit and kill him, putting the rest of his army to rout.

Sy2BXZn.png

Sy2BXZn.png

The samurai proceed to break through the gate and overwhelm the defenders, thanks to the use of the confusion tactic to immobilize some of the units. Even with the garrison's low unit count, the catapults and the unlimited reinforcements would have forced a successful delay if the co-unit didn't stupidly stop at the entrance.

The death of the co-unit ends the siege, and the former Ilkhante capital of Tabriz is liberated by the shogunate. Unfortunately, the next turn brought dark news as the Chagatai Khanate brings their diplomat to the Kamakura capital of Dadu and announces that they are breaking ties with the samurai nation.

Next turn brings even worst news as one of the princes fails to escape to Tabriz, gets caught in a desperate battle after battle against the Mamluk armies, fighting to the bitter end until his army finally falls and he is captured and beheaded. Caught between two enemy countries, the shogunate orders the royal forces at Tabriz to hold their own against the Mamlukes, while the forces of Nishapur and Emir have to quickly destroy the Chagatai Khanate before aiding the former.

Mamluke and Chagatai forces surround both Tabriz and Nishapur, respectively, but later decide to attack and besiege.

Thanfully, the garrison manages to beat back their massive forces with a liberal use of cannon fire to immobilize their units to block their advance and target their CO units. Still, Chagatai forces are still preparing the surrounding city for another siege, while the forces of Emir are slow to approach the Chagatai capital of Al-Malik. It will be a long struggle.

Pardon the delay.

Genghis Khan IV PC OST - Overwhelming Enemy

mC9MUs4.png

The war between the Kamakura Shogunate and the Mamluke Sultanate continues with utter ferocity, and while the former manages to occupy a territory in the Middle East after a bloodbath of epic proportions, the Chagatai Khanate pulls a last-minute betrayal that threatens to put the Western campaign into serious trouble.

The newly occupied cities of Tabriz and Nishapur are surrounded by Mamluk and Mongol forces, respectively; the former suffered the death of one of the Hojo princes in the last chapter and are left to fend for themselves, but the later have managed to fend off a siege and are in a prime position to take out the Chagatai forces, who have left their borders unguarded as reinforcements from Emir arrive at the Chagatai capital of Almalik.

Masashige attacks the Chagatai forces south of Nishapur to thin their numbers, burning most of their forces and successfully killing two units. Ashikaga exits the city to kill off a Mamluke army while Masanari reinforces him, and Nitta joins in to provide a proper reinforcement formation in case the enemy decides to attack them.

Back at Dadu, the King of Japan sorrowfully sends his last remaining son to the east to help in the siege of Al-Malik while the Shogunate forces in Delhi prepare to build a military road to begin their invasion of the Chagatai cities nearby.

The next turn starts with a Mamluk siege of Tabriz. The strongest Hojo prince who has the Arson and Rapid Fire skill leads the garrison in the fierce defense as follows:

The gate is easily broken, but the Hojo prince successfully uses cannon fire to cause confusion among the Mamluk armies to deter their advance and one-by-one utterly destroy every single one of them as they bathe in fire and arrows. Three Mamluke armies fall in chaos as one of their officers is "convinced" by the princes to join the rightful shogunate while the other two receive an honorable death.

The forces of Emir finally arrive at the Chagatai city of Al-Malik and are ready to begin the siege battle.

The Chagatai Khan possesses high stats in war and intelligence but lacks any battle skill to make him truly deadly.

The cannon unit shows it's worth despite being the cause of the delay by neutralizing the enemies catapults while the gate is being broken. The Mongolian cavalry proved resilient, but a lucky use of the confusion tactic immobilized them and the CO unit that proved deadly to the defenders. The city of Almalik falls to the Shogunate, and the Khan receives his just reward for his betrayal.

Meanwhile in Nisapur, Masashige, Ashikaga, and Nitta destroy more Chagatai forces surrounding the city, and it is sad that the Mongols are easier to deal with than the Mamluk Jihad, who are too busy besieging Tabriz to send significant numbers.

In India, the Japanese colonists have arrived at last, and the officers at Delhi are transferred to the newly established city of Chiron.

The Mamluks are so focused on the East that the Eastern Roman Empire forces besieges the city of Damascus, but it fails. While the Shogunate forces of Nishapur destroy the scattered forces of the Chagatai, more armies are raised at Emir to conquer more cities of the Chagatai while awaiting the last Hojo prince sent from the capital.

The Mamluks continue to relentlessly besiege the city of Tabriz. While the 2nd ended the same as the first one, the 3rd wave not only has catapult units but the Mamluke CO in charge successfully uses confused tactics to immobilize the garrison. Even with the usual blockage caused by the cannons, the confusion tactics plus the catapults would have eventually crushed the garrison. Thankfully, the CO unit stupidly decided to be in direct range of the Japanese cannons. two turns of concentrated fire and 3 heads of Mamluke commanders are added to the pile.

The situation in Nishapur has stabilized, with the Chagatai Khanate sending miniscule armies, the Mamluks too busy with the sieges at Tabriz that they can only send a few units, and the newly captured officers from both sides affirming their allegiance to the Kamakura Shogunate. Masashige is ordered to take the nearby Chagatai city of Samarkand to speed up the liberation of Central Asia from the Chagatai.

The officers of Delhi have moved to the newly established Japanese city and are busy building the fortifications and expanding the zone of control while the military road is slowly being built.

The next turn has the Shogunate forces of Emir besieging and easily taking over the Chagatai city of Talas.

At Tabriz, however, the situation is grim as the repeated sieges by the Mamluks take their toll on the determined Shogunate forces as they lose more men than they are able to replenish. Worse, the weakness and the overreliance of artillery are shown when the weather is rainy and artillery are unable to fire.

Luckily, the weather is back to clam as the artillery quickly kills the co-unit and disperses the 3rd Mamluk siege. It's clear though that they need reinforcements.

Another Chagatai city is taken while the Shogunate forces at Nishapur sends reinforcements to aid the battered defenders of Tabriz and kills off Mamluke forces near the city to the relief of the garrison instead.

To the east, Masashige reunites with the forces of Emir as the siege of the Chagatai city begins. The lack of siege weapons would have been problematic due to the Chagatai catapults, but Masanari luckliy manages to hit a confused tactic at the CO unit sniping at the shogunate forces outside the gates. Once the gates have been broken through, the shogunate forces overwhelm the fleeing defenders and kill off the CO unit for a win.

Cultural items have been recovered from the Chagatai vaults. First, is the Canon of Medicine, an Islamic encyclopedia of medicine that was used as the main authority of medical knowledge not only in the Islamic world but also in Medieval Europe. Second is the knowledge of Perfume and the third is Arabesque decoration that's a recurring Islamic artstyle.
