Odd that they have nothing to say. They could at least spill the beans about why they were being hunted.. :M

Good thing the game was made before the horrible scam called DLC existed, they're saving the answer for the main campaign. Also, a problem of these sidequests/extra missions is that sometimes the prerequisites to access them are a bit random (like complete "x" mission in less than "y" turns, or kill everyone but a certain target and so on). What's more, some of the best units were hidden on these sidequests.

Also, actually there are "romances": If you have specific units next to each other for a high number of turns (20 or so), you may trigger a special "talk" event. You can only do it once per mission and up to three times with the same units, but they can change the ending and/or reveal interesting bits of the plot.

Still, no member of glorious PC master race should care, since it's not PC.

But it is, you just have to install a special program called "emulator" to play :troll:

Nah, mang - it could be too complex for mature, RPG-only, PC-centric audience.
Plus, the game has animu art, and everybody knows that computer games are all about style of graphics, not some shit like gameplay or playability.

Will post 3 updates before I next go to sleep. Yes, bros, 3.

As members of our group don't die permanently during this 'tutorial', I can afford to be reckless. And it would be wrong of me to detract from the excitement by being meticulous. :smug:

However, Caelin is now under the rule of Lord Lundgren. Lundgren's henchmen lay in wait to assassinate Lyn. They wait for her approach and ready a secret weapon.

We've come such a long way...

APCJ4.png

a8F3j.png
We can't be very far from the castle now!

Dog4o.png
By my reckoning, we can reach Castle Caelin in two days if we hurry.

xpx5L.png
Two more days... Hold on, Grandfather. Please...

nvWih.png

TwMje.png
If they see you looking so sad, the entire company will lose heart.

xpx5L.png
Florina... You're right. There's nothing to be gained by worrying. We just have to press onward.

TwMje.png
That's the spirit!

UJUsl.png
Lyn... Danger approaches...

CcvgN.png

a8F3j.png
I don't see anything. Are you sure?

BT523.png
I feel it, too. I'm sure of it. Ah! Milady, don't move!

xpx5L.png
Hm?

zKHHb.png

JsoNh.png

xpx5L.png
What in--Where did this bolt come from?

Dog4o.png
They have a ballista!

:rpgcodex: That missed because you stood still.

84LiL.png

a8F3j.png
Deploying siege engines is no mean feat.

xpx5L.png
What is a ballista?

Dog4o.png
It's a weapon designed for long-distance attacks. Only archers can use them, but they can be devastating.

vjVq6.png

a8F3j.png
Do not take to the air! The ballista would target you in an instant.

xpx5L.png
Is there a way to combat it?

Dog4o.png
The safest course is to use someone with good defense as bait, so the enemy wastes arrows.

:rpgcodex: That's retarded.

a8F3j.png
Then you can walk up and knock the fool on the head.

:rpgcodex: That's more retarded.

xpx5L.png
Wil, can you use a ballista?

6WhzE.png
I've never tried, but... It's just a really big bow, right? I should be able to figure it out.

:rpgcodex: No... just no.

xpx5L.png
All we can ask is that you try... Let's see what you can do!

0QD2Y.png

359bs.png
I have some minor... buisness... to attend to. I'm unable to join you.

:x Coward!

B9up7.png

:rpgcodex: That ballista really does have a long range. Now I have a dillema - I can go east for that village... except the mages will do heavy damage to our armour-heavy units, and I've no idea how much damage the ballista will do to our squishies. Or, south, to take out the ballista and risk the village being destroyed. First move - bait an attack from it onto one of our knights.

r2INO.png

QQJx5.png

:rpgcodex: 4 damage to Kent? That's... pathetic.

zJXT5.png

gfnBZ.png
Call up for reinforcements, and rush 'em!

:rpgcodex: Their tactician is being a true bro, charging their units one by one into our party as we hold position.

270
6BziD.png

:rpgcodex: Rance takes the fireball like a man, looking forward to the hands-on healing from Black Cat next turn.

mitGW.png

:rpgcodex: The annihilation of the first wave begins with Wil and Lucius.

cLiwL.png

:rpgcodex: Erk wins. Need I say more?

KyrqF.png

:rpgcodex: Kent runs through the swordsman in one critical hit.

dzHUL.png

:rpgcodex: A double attack from Dorcas kills the last remaining knight.

c0GEs.png

:rpgcodex: Poor level up again from Dorcas. I entrust to Rance the liberation of the village.

b0p1h.png

YP58t.png

:rpgcodex: This soldier doesn't even slow us down.

WReUb.png

:rpgcodex: Nils is quick and small, the perfect target for a lumbering siege engine to aim for.

OraJD.png

C1HZU.png

:rpgcodex: Rance leaves the shaman for Kent, heading to the village.

531eF.png

7MwpL.png
Some weapons don't follow the normal rules. This here lancereaver is one of those. It's a sword that reverses the triangle. So if you wield this blade, you can best a lance with it. Of course, there's a downside... Axes can best this sword.

4M0zl.png

:rpgcodex: :yeah:

84ekw.png

:x

NigeS.png

:rpgcodex: Confident that the ballista will prefer to target Nils, I advance on the next two enemies.

6IQ8O.png

:rpgcodex: Disappointing upgrade from our Monk. I rejuvenate Lucius with Nils, who then explodes the archer.

2qpNL.png

:rpgcodex: I forget to order Rance to switch his lance to his sword so he takes a hit from an axe.

c0he7.png

:rpgcodex: Another soldier commits suicide-by-Dorcas. Elsewhere, Nils dodges another bolt and Rance finishes off the brigand.

HUzwR.png

:rpgcodex: Lucius is unstoppable, blasting away another two soldiers. But I've just noticed...

9fwZT.png

:rpgcodex: Phew. Just realised that, considering Lucius' horrible defense, he could easily have been finished off by the ballista... except that the war machine is already out of ammo.

s6p7I.png

:rpgcodex: Erk and Lucius are just destroying everything in our path.

wIMPC.png

etZfo.png

xWlia.png

:rpgcodex: We're still to meet any real resistance.

Qn55n.png

1cMNH.png

:rpgcodex: [Intelligence] All these units have the 'reaver' class of weapons, reversing the weapon triangle.

EGEk9.png

:rpgcodex: Sometimes having enough damage to kill a unit attacking you is a disadvantage. Too little too late though - Rance wounds this swordsman and then Kent lands the killing blow.

ty7Od.png

saeq8.png

:rpgcodex: Lyn hasn't seen action in a while. I'm sure this'll be a walk in the park. :smug:

Lord Lungren... I've failed you... I pray you hurry...with those reinforcements...you promised.

KUDy4.png

Dog4o.png
Yes. I see no more enemy soldiers.

:rpgcodex: Shame. I'm already bored.

Dog4o.png
However, something is bothering me.

xpx5L.png
What is it?

Dog4o.png
I noticed it during the fighting. Our opponents... They were soldiers of Caelin. I even recognized some of those we fought. I trained with many of them... And yet they attacked us without hesitation.

3JntM.png

a8F3j.png
Good riddance, I say. It also means less resistance at the castle.

Dog4o.png
I hope you're right...

RMn6R.png

xpx5L.png
If that first shot had hit me, I might not have survived.

:rpgcodex: Nonsense. That archer couldn't hit a barn door.

BT523.png
We are honored to have served you well.

UJUsl.png
We won't let you down!

xpx5L.png
I know. I'm relying on you.

UXodN.png

:rpgcodex: Nice timing.

xpx5L.png
Matthew, where were you duringn all this?

359bs.png
I went to the village to sniff about for information.

:rpgcodex: And couldn't you, you know, go -after- the battle?

:rpgcodex: I got some interesting news for my trouble, too.

xpx5L.png
Let's hear it!

359bs.png
First, about Marquess Caelin's illness. He really is unwell. He's been abed for night on three months.

xpx5L.png
Oh, no... Grandfather...

359bs.png
I heard an interesting rumor about his condition, though. The people believe that someon's been poisoning the marquess...

:rpgcodex: I never saw that coming.

xpx5L.png
He's been poisoned!?

359bs.png
And this someone... Well, everyone's too afraid to mention a name. However, they say that, as soon as the marquess took ill, a certain noble took control of the castle as though it were his own. I fed a hungry innkeeper some coin, and he fed me a name. The marqeuss of Caelin's own brother, Lord Lundgren.

:rpgcodex: And most certainly did not see that coming either.

xpx5L.png
How can this be? How can they allow him to get away with this? The villagers know he's the one poisoning my grandfather, and yet no one raises a hand against him? Why?

:rpgcodex: Probably something to do with him murdering the fuck out of anyone who opposes him, perhaps?

VPbmn.png

Dog4o.png
The whisperings of the common people means nothing.

359bs.png
That's the truth of it. And the marquess's loyal retainers who might have lent credence to these rumors, there is no sign.

xpx5L.png
Are you saying they've been silenced?

359bs.png
It's a fair assumption.

Dog4o.png
This is beyond believing.

359bs.png
The worst news is yet to come.

JKJV1.png

359bs.png
An imposter's appeared, claiming to be the marquess's granddaughter. At least, that's the story Lundgren's telling to all who'll listen.

xpx5L.png
What does that mean?

359bs.png
It means that people are waiting for two traitorous knights and a baseborn child to appear and lay claim to Castle Caelin.

a8F3j.png
But... But that... It can't be!

:rpgcodex: Intelligent move. I'd do the same if I was in his position.

Dog4o.png
Traitors? Us? Ridiculous!!!

xpx5L.png
He says...I'm an imposter?

359bs.png
Don't you have anything that proves your lineage?

:rpgcodex: The Marquess dies in mysterious circumstances -after- two traitorous knights have gone off to find his granddaughter, and nobody in the neighbouring countries will question that? That's stupid.

xpx5L.png
When my mother joined the Lorca, she brought nothing of Lycia with her.

a8F3j.png
Milady, Marquess Araphen himself remarked at your resemblance to Lady Madelyn! Your face is your proof!

:rpgcodex: Don't be retarded, Rance.

Dog4o.png
They'll say we found a look-alike somewhere... We're seen as betrayers of our knightly vows. Our words means nothing. No, our only hope is to see Marquess Caelin himself.

xpx5L.png
We must hurry. If not, my grandfather... I must see him! With my last breath if need be.

359bs.png
But we must formulate some manner of plan! Even if we set out for the castle, the troops patrolling the area will cause no end of problems. You've been branded as oathbreakers, after all.

:rpgcodex: Let them try to stop us.

xpx5L.png
I've got it! Eliwood... He seemed sympathetic to our plight. He should still be in Kathelet. If we can talk to him, he might help us!

Dog4o.png
Of course! A sound idea!

a8F3j.png
Let's hurry!

Once again - I'm really surprised what the devs were able to pull off concerning graphics in such low resolution.

As for the game...

OLOLO STUPID JRPGS WITH THEIR SIMPLIZTIC FINAL FANTASY COMBAT. ITZ NOT EVEN PROPER TURN_BEASED AS IN PROPER RPGS LIKE MASS EEFECT.

To be fair - combat is rather simplistic, but it doesn't change the fact that it is very engaging. Also there's practically no character progression - you simply get stats randomly on each lvl up (sometimes you don't get any boosts).

Still, it's a very good game.

OBJECTION!! There actually is (sort of): Later on you can upgrade your characters with special items that are somewhat rare, forcing you to choose which one to "upgrade" and which not. "Ascended" characters are generally better, with more options for combat (such as being able to use different weapons, or being faster/able to fly, etc.), but not always. Future games made things more interesting like including multiple and totally opposed classes available when leveling up and so on.

But it has animu art so PC ubermenschen have to queer away.

And remember - the more complex a game you're playing is, the more impressed your girlfriend bros will be when they discover you playing it.

:obviously:

This is my favorite point of PC-elitists - "What if my friends find me playing some silly game with big-eyed lolis? Manly games as ARMA or Vikcy are different story!".

Fucking nerds with 'ZOMG IMMA INTELECTUAL ELITE CUZ I PLAY COMPELX GAEMZ!' syndrome...

Talking about ascended characters... :M :M :M

Lundgren has sent word to Caelin's neighbors, warning them of Lyn's approach. He calls for reinforcements to put an end to the "imposters." If the other realms of Lycia choose to act, Lyn will never reach Caelin alive. Lyn places her faith in Eliwood and waits.

YHErb.png

Laus, Tuscana, Kathelet, Tania and Santaruz. They will not interfere in Caelin's affairs. They have promised.

xpx5L.png
Eliwood, I don't know how to thank you...

kleOJ.png
All I've done is convince them to remain neutral in this dispute. However, this means I cannot aid you in any way either. Will you be all right?

:rpgcodex: She has me. Of course she's going to be all right.

xpx5L.png
I will win. I have to. It's the only way that I can help my grandfather.

kleOJ.png
I understand. Although I cannot help you directly, as a friend, I pray for your success.

xpx5L.png
Thank you. I won't waste the opportunity you've given me.

a8F3j.png
This weather is turning foul. It looks like a fog is rolling in.

Dog4o.png
This is no good. If the fog thickens we'll be blind in battle. It will be difficult to fight what we cannot see.

:rpgcodex: But at least our enemies won't be able to see either... right? They better fucking not or I'm calling bullshit on this game.

xpx5L.png
We can't let it delay us, though. Let us press on. We must get closer to the castle. What's the best route?

Dog4o.png
Let me think... Our best path is to the south... However, that runs thorough General Eagler's estate. It looks like we still have one final obstacle to pass.

:rpgcodex: By the time Lyn takes her rightful place, we'll have wiped out everyone in Caelin's standing army.

OMpFV.png

:rpgcodex: Eagler is tough as nails - having high defense, high offense, and most importantly - two forms of ranged attack. Our mages will get hit hard everytime they attack and Eagler has weapon counters to both swords and lances.

9DRvM.png

359bs.png
Surely you know that we...er... thieves, if you must, can see through the fog. Follow me, everyone!

:rpgcodex: [Intelligence] Fog reduces everyones [Perception] stat, but not so much on thieves.

120kmc0.png

:rpgcodex: Eh? That knight just came from the mountains.

Ofnut.png

a8F3j.png
Aah!

:rpgcodex: Bro?

Ofnut.png

xpx5L.png
Kent, who is this?

Dog4o.png
He used to be commander of the knights of Caelin.

a8F3j.png
Aren't you supposed to be retired? I heard you were sowing fields now.

JIvfV.gif
I AM, AND I WAS. THEN I RECIEVED ORDERS FROM LORD LUNDGREN. I WAS TOLD TO CAPTURE AN IMPOSTER AND A PAIR OF ROGUE KNIGHTS.

Dog4o.png
Lord Wallace! Surely, you don't believe us to be oathbreakers, do you?

JIvfV.gif
BRING ME THE GIRL THAT CLAIMS TO BE LADY MADELYN's CHILD.

a8F3j.png
What are your intentions?

JIvfV.gif
IF I DON'T LIKE WHAT I SEE, I WILL TAKE HER.

Dog4o.png
We will prevent you.

:rpgcodex: You may be my bro, and we all know what they say about bros and hoes, but we'll still kick your arse if you try anything with Lyn.

JIvfV.gif
YOU? PREVENT ME? YOU MUST BE--

2uyWp.png

xpx5L.png
I'm right here! I am Lyndis.

JIvfV.gif
Ah...

xpx5L.png
I'll understand if you don't believe me. But I've had enough of you and your foolish posturing!

JIvfV.gif
Hmm... Such beautiful eyes...

xpx5L.png
Pardon?

JIvfV.gif
I'VE BEEN A KNIGHT FOR 30 YEARS, AND THERE IS ONE THING I LEARNED. A PERSON WITH EYES AS BRIGHT AND AS TRUE AS YOURS IS NO DECIEVER.

v6ssE.png

JIvfV.gif
WHY, I BELIEVE I'LL EVEN JOIN YOUR LITTLE BAND OF MERCENARIES!

:rpgcodex: :bro:

a8F3j.png
Are you... Are you serious?

JIvfV.gif
THIS OLD BULL's PLEDGED HIS LOYALTY TO CAELIN. I WOULD NEVER ALLOW AN USURPER ON THE THRONE. LET'S MARCH!

EbFOW.png

Dog4o.png
He... He hasn't changed at all.

xpx5L.png
I like him. He's... honest. That he is. He deserves our respect.

JIvfV.gif
IT LOOKS AS THOUGH IT'S TIME TO TAKE UP ARMS ONCE MORE. KODEXER! YOU'RE THE TACTICIAN OF THIS GROUP, CORRECT? WHAT ARE MY ORDERS?

:rpgcodex: Slow down, bro. What's that nice shiny emblem you have there?

JIvfV.gif
HA HA HAAA! SO YOU'VE NOTICED MY KNIGHT CREST, HAVE YOU? YOU'VE EYES LIKE AN EAGLE, MY FRIEND! ONCE I'VE USED THE CREST, I'll BE EVEN STRONGER! A TERRIFYING THOUGHT, ISN'T IT? HA HA HA HAAAA!

:rpgcodex: Then why haven't you already used it yourself?

JIvfV.gif
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? ORDeR ME TO USE THE KNIGHT CREST!!! LET THEM STARE IN AWE AT MY MIGHT! THEIR KNEES SHALL QUAKE!

ltPc7.png

:rpgcodex: Wallace is evolving?

dGvS9.png

:rpgcodex: That defense...

yJdkd.png

JIvfV.gif
HA HA HA HAAAA! LOOK! A GIANT WALKS AMONG YOU!! MY DEFENSE IS IMPENETRABLE! COME! BREAK YOUR WEAPONS AGAINST ME!

:rpgcodex: First things first...

OJxaQ.png

o1CmM.png

WSYgh.png
What? You don't? There's a thick fog rolling in, and you have NO torches? Wandering about without a torch is... Well, it's ridiculous! Here. Take one of mine. Use this when it's foggy, and you can see a bit better. Hm? No need for thanks. I know all about you and your comrades. We, all, well... Not one of us believes what Lord Lundgren is saying about you. We all want to help the marquess... and his rightful heir. Good luck!

mFCu3.png

:rpgcodex: South may be the shortest route, but I don't fancy going into that passage between the mountains. May not be a trap, but the terrain isn't favourable for pushing through.

CGyCS.png

:rpgcodex: Sure enough, brigands spawn from all three forts within the mountains. There's three more forts on this map - each spawning a soldier (no problem), a cavalier (problem) and an archer (problem).

6MflN.png

:rpgcodex: None of my units except Florina can move onto a mountain, and I don't really fancy letting this guy get into our rear.

eCozm.png

:rpgcodex: :salute:

ZemBO.png

:rpgcodex: Soldiers are still no threat.

Cw4wj.png

:rpgcodex: Another spawn of six units from each fort. If we'd had gone south, we'd be under immense pressure next turn. By the way, I should mention that that Black Cat only has 6 heals left because I was tight and stuffies at the last shop, nya :M

h7e9W.png

:rpgcodex: If I was an AI, I would so have kept that swordsman in reserve. Instead...

aovD4.png

:rpgcodex: Unfortunately for us, enemies can move the turn they spawn. Fortunately for us, the soldier spawning top fort feeds Florina some more XP.

v960u.png

xpx5L.png
We can't hit an enemy we can't see. Keep your eyes open, everyone!

:rpgcodex: Don't worry, we have torches. :smug:

5e4KU.png

nOzYj.png

:x Only one more square visible!? At least Erk makes up for it with a kill.

Gs6XQ.png

:rpgcodex: Units are still spawning. If we hadn't had luck with hitting those brigands in the mountains, we'd be in serious trouble. As it stands - the soldier goes down without even a whisper, but bad position leaves Florina open to attack. Three misses.

xa5SH.png

:rpgcodex: Rance is our best choice as pointman, but he takes a few hits from the cavalier and the archer.

G1XAA.png

:rpgcodex: We push out. Rance takes down the cavalier and gets refreshed by Nils.

VRA0y.png

:rpgcodex: Lyn's low defense is going to start being a problem.

DyQC0.png

bdroS.png

8QlpN.png

:rpgcodex: Lucius is too fragile to leave out like this. Rance cannot kill the archer in one hit, so I take a massive risk.

O2t7O.png

:rpgcodex: Please let that be the last archer, please let that be the last archer, please that be the last archer...

SvDjo.png

:rpgcodex: Matthew doesn't quite do a perfect job, but it'll do. He draws the attacks from two units, but gets hit by one.

8xUTb.png

4190i.png

:rpgcodex: Matthew improves his skill with bows by killing the soldier and Erk makes short work of the brigand. On the frontlines Matthew shanks the brigand who'd already attacked him and Lucius kills the cavalier.

gi2wM.png

4rlaC.png

:rpgcodex: Offense is the best form of defense.

gRXNR.png

aq5al.png
The forces of Caelin are led by General Eagler. He's an honest man who has always treated us well. A good general. He must be aware of Lundgren's evil plans to seize control of Caelin. I can only believe Lundgren's holding someone dear to him as hostage. It's so sad, but there's nothing anyone can do. Why must so many innocents get hurt in the foolish games of nobles?

:rpgcodex: Deeper than PS:T.

8gIcP.png

:rpgcodex: We're virtually unstoppable at this point. Erk roasts two enemy units alive and Florina skewers a third.

U39lF.png

:rpgcodex: I know there are a lot of brigands lurking in those mountains. I send our bro in to flush them out.

wwoV6.png

:rpgcodex: Boom.

IIdZ1.png

AMHoG.png

AmJdA.png

:rpgcodex: Matthew is a willing meat shield for Lucius. Comfortable that we've no threat from the rear, I can turn out attentions to storming the castle.

wfpnm.png

3Rrz8.png

:rpgcodex: Not a huge problem, swords is one area in which we aren't lacking.

V8qdf.png

:rpgcodex: Let's bait the rest out with Lyn.

CuezN.png

:rpgcodex: Fuck, I forgot how squishy Lyn was. If there's another soldier, I've just lost...

NAGvv.png

:rpgcodex: Luckily there isn't, and I'm reminded to use that Angelic Robe to give Lyn more staying power.

jsjj4.png

:rpgcodex: All before us will fall.

UolV5.png

Dog4o.png
General Eagler! We found Lady Lyndis on the orders of the marquess. We've worked so very hard to return her safely to Caelin.

etvFI.png
And yet you have no proof of the girl's identity. Is that not true?

Dog4o.png
Yes, but...

etvFI.png
Then our talk is finished! Draw your weapon and come!

:rpgcodex: Nice work, Kent.

UQPs3.png

:rpgcodex: He's tough.

LB8rQ.png

etvFI.png
Sain... I never imagined you could turn traitor...

a8F3j.png
Who's the traitor here? I am following the orders of my sworn liege lord. Not Lundgren, but my true liege, the marqess himself!

etvFI.png
You speak with conviction. I think it's time to test the bounds of your loyalty!

:rpgcodex: Look, bro, if the old bastard is using someone to get to you, just--

a0sQs.png

:rpgcodex: For fucks sake! You're being less reasonable than Skyway!

yQZe3.png

etvFI.png
General Wallace... So you've sided with the girl, too, have you?

JIvfV.gif
I FIGHT FOR CAELIN'S HONOR, NOT FOR LUNDGREN'S LIES!

etvFI.png
Ah... IS that so? You are-- Enough! Thre's nothing more to be said. I name you traitors all! Come! Do your worst!

JIvfV.gif
FOOL! AT THE VERY LEAST, LET MINE BE THE BLOW THAT FINISHES YOU!

:rpgcodex: Seems like rat diplomacy won't be working here.

:rpgcodex: Wil can only scratch him through his armour and given the heal that a fortress gives, Eagler won't be going down any time soon.

:rpgcodex: Great strategic decision from me to not buy Black Cat another Heal. Hindsight is a bitch.

I am Lyndis. I'm no pretender. I'd ask you to believe me, but your heart and mind seem set.

I think he must have known we were telling the truth. Why did he force the fight?

:rpgcodex: Aye. Seemed like Lundgren had his balls in a vice.

a8F3j.png
Something must have... Lord Lundgren was excerting some hold on him... Eagler was trying to protect someone. A friend perhaps, or family.

Dog4o.png

xpx5L.png
May Lundgren never know the peaceful embrace of Mother Earth! I care not what others do. I WILL stop that man! Kodexer! The final battle is approaching!

I love how smug and codexian the bad guy is. Too bad that the main campaign's villains are not as good. Also, you'll quickly run out of Codex's "lore" if you continue like that, Fire Emblems are known for having fucktons of characters...

Lundgren I find to be more comical, really. I really think he made a hash of the whole seizing-control thing.

Though on second thoughts, perhaps that is Codexian :smug:

Lyn and her band draw ever nearer to Castle Caelin. Within the castle walls, Lyn's bitter enemy, Lundgren, awaits... A man who would kill his own kin for a throne. He is the source of all troubles. He must be stopped.

Everything rests on this next battle.

a8F3j.png
Lundgren will not be recieving the reinforcements he expected. He'll move against us with everything he has soon.

:rpgcodex: Whatever he has, it will not be enough to overcome this master tactician.

xpx5L.png
Let him come! Let them all come! I will not be turned away! I will see my grandfather... I've come too far to let anyone stand in my way.

SiDpu.png

xpx5L.png
My friends, for one last time, lend me your strength!

:rpgcodex: Once more unto the breach, etc etc.

yvOgw.png

mRKEI.png
Oh, no! If I don't bring in the laundry now... Oh, hello. Are you a soldier?

:rpgcodex: Yes. Now please excuse us whilst we ransack the random house we've just barged into.

mRKEI.png
Sounds like a hard life... Especially when it rains. Rain must make it difficult for you to move around. I used to ride horses when I was little. Oh, I remember how those horses disliked the rain. It's better to be on foot when it's wet. Nomadic horses are trained on the plains, so they're better with rain, but... Well, rain just seems to make it hard for everyone to get around. The weather around here can change in no time at all. I recommend just staying in one place until the rain clears up.

5StH4.png

:rpgcodex: The first problem we run into is this mage. He has a good threat range and will hurt our usual vanguard units. Remember - Black Cat's staff is out of charge. So I delve into our bag of tricks and give Pure water to Florina, the bonus to her resistance should mean that she takes negligable damage.

N86o9.png

xpx5L.png
Let's go, Kodexer. We should press on while we're still able.

jnfJz.png

:rpgcodex: The enemies don't advance, which presents to us a new problem - I can't take out the mage with Florina because that will expose her to the archer. Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and charge.

gSlqN.png

:x Kent!

7uL5m.png

:rpgcodex: This actually works in my favour. Rath is already strong, so I can just leave him lurking at the back of our group.

R6p13.png

:rpgcodex: Great. Rain suits whoever has the strongest wall of ranged offense.

qFVAK.png

zNHVY.png

:rpgcodex: I suppose Florina was due a bad level up.

0vRax.png

:rpgcodex: Rath takes his revenge on the mage.

xpx5L.png
Look! The clouds are breaking. This rain should stop soon...

:rpgcodex: Forward!

K2wz6.png

:rpgcodex: The swordsman may have got a double attack, but he can't penetrate Rance's armour. Elsewhere Kent and an archer skirmish over ther river.

WKU0t.png

:rpgcodex: They are only a speedbump on the road to glory.

yJk7Q.png

RbIyK.png

:rpgcodex: Ouch. Might need to use a vulnerary.

jwN5L.png

:rpgcodex: Rath takes care of the shaman and Rance heals.

EcxmL.png

:rpgcodex: Florina's mobility is ever useful at harassment. A brigand crosses the river, engaging our main force on his lonesome. Kent greets him...

8fVMu.png

:rpgcodex: ...With a critical hit. :smug:

ghW9R.png

:rpgcodex: I don't think that Pegasus Knights benefit from terrain defenses.

EjJa9.png

:rpgcodex: Kent must be doing something right to appear such a danger.

W1cfy.png

:rpgcodex: Clean up time. Kent heals and block off the bridge and Florina finishes off the swordsman. Now for that cavalier...

uxtrH.png

:rpgcodex: :smug: Now for the village.

qg2oa.png
You've finally made it here, have you? Such a long way... We're all behind Lady Lndis. All of us. Here, take this. Use it in your battle against Lundgren, please. It's an energy ring. It'll increase your strength and magic power a bit. There are lots of items that augment your abilities. These are hard to come by, so think carefully before you use them. Of course, not using them at all would be a terrible waste as well, right? Items like this might vanish once you've used them. Bear that in mind, and use them wisely.

You're not like that stubborn fool, Kent. You're reasonable. Leave this child, Lyndis, and stand at my side. You will go far in my service.

a8F3j.png
That is a gracious offer, my lord...

qLf2Y.png
Quite...

a8F3j.png
However, I am rather fond of my friend the stubborn fool. And if I am to pledge my service to any liege, I would choose lovely Lady Lyndis over Foul Lundgren, regardless of the risk!

:rpgcodex: Was that ever in doubt? Rance is always going to choose the pretty girl.

qLf2Y.png
Fool! I will make you regret your decision!

:rpgcodex: Rance only scratches him for 2 damage... Maybe Kent will do better?

fSxsM.png

Dog4o.png
Lundgren, your treachery precedes you. I will not listen to any of your poisoned words!

qLf2Y.png
You're a fool! You'll wish you'd never turned your coat!

YQcra.png

:rpgcodex: No. No he doesn't.

nB702.png

:rpgcodex: But there is method to my madness. Lundgren used his lance to hit Kent, so...

OI8kr.png

qLf2Y.png
You will not leave these lands alive!

Davw9.png

:rpgcodex: Even Lucius doesn't do much.

G1lEg.png

:rpgcodex: Dorcas does nothing at all, but at least can help with carrying Lucius out of range.

pYVob.png

:rpgcodex: Rance levels up after baiting Lundgren back into using his Silver lance, allowing Lucius to bring the pain.

wWBb3.png

xpx5L.png
You'll play this farce to the end, won't you, Lundgren?

qLf2Y.png
The royal house of Caelin has no need of a Sacaen mongrel! I'll put an end to this foolishness here and now!

xpx5L.png
To further your own black ambitions, you've harmed my grandfather and the very land you ought to serve. I have neither pity nor mercy for you. Lundgren! Prepare yourself!

Who are you?

DEBMv.png
I am Reissmann, the chancellor of the Caelin royal family. I had recieved word from Kent and Sain when you first met, but then Lundgren discovered the message and impisoned me. It is my great pleasure to welcome you to your true home.

xpx5L.png
Thank you. May I see my grandfather now?

DEBMv.png
Yes, of course. Do not be shocked by what you see. Lundgren has been poisoning the marquess's meals for some time. His body has been ravaged... He's been bedridden for months.

:rpgcodex: That's some pretty weak poison.

S17Ua.png

yVhAK.png
I said no visitors. I will see no one. What are you doing? Leave me... to die...

xpx5L.png
Um... Pardon me... My name is... I'm Lyndis.

yVhAK.png
Eh? Did you say Lyndis? Is that...

xpx5L.png
My father's name was Hassar, chieftain of the Lorca. My mother was...Madelyn. I was raised on the plains.

yVhAK.png
... Could it be? Come here. Let me see your face. Oh... Yes... There is no doubt... You are Madelyn's trueborn child... Uhhh...ahhhh...

xpx5L.png
Grandfather!

pKp8N.png

yVhAK.png
Lundgren told me that my daughter had died. My heir...and you, too. He told me you were dead. Thank you... Thank you for living. Ahhhh... I am blessed...

xpx5L.png
Mother and FAther were slain last year by brigands. I... I was the only survivor. I lived on, but...

yVhAK.png
Lyndis, please forgive a prideful old man. If I had but accepted your parent's love... There would have been no bandits. We would have lived together in perfect peace.

lGwyZ.png

xpx5L.png
Our life was one of love and peace. The end was tragic, but... up until the atack, we were truly happy.

yVhAK.png
Truly? Madelyn had a life of happiness? Knowing that gives me so much joy. Thank you, Lyndis. I can die in peace now...

xpx5L.png
No! Grandfather! You mustn' say that!

yVhAK.png
There's no avoiding it, Lyndis. I've taken too much poison for far too long. It's too late...

xpx5L.png
Be brave, Grandfather! You will recover! Believe me! On the plains, we say that illness fails in the face of a strong heart! I am with you now! You mustn't give up!

yVhAK.png
You're...with me...

xpx5L.png
Yes. We have so much to talk about. Walks to take, music to listen to. There's so much I want to do with you, so much lost time we can recover!

yVhAK.png
That does sound... nice.

xpx5L.png
Doesn't it? And once you're well, I'll take you to the plains. I'll show you the endless sky, the oceans of grass... I want you to know the lands my mother loved so much!

yVhAK.png
The lands Madelyn loved... You're right. I still have... quite a bit of living to do.

xpx5L.png
You can do it, Grandfather!

yVhAK.png
Lyndis...

G3gZ6.png

a8F3j.png
Do you honestly plan on remaining here? Tell me truly!

xpx5L.png
Yes, until my grandfather is well. I can't leave him now. I won't.

wIWaR.png

Dog4o.png
It's like he was never ill. And it's all thanks to you, milady.

:rpgcodex: Good thing Lyn passed her [Speech] check.

xpx5L.png
He's the only family I have left. I want him to have a long life.

cvlHZ.png

xpx5L.png
What is it, Florina?

TwMje.png
I've been taken into service by House Caelin! From here on, Lyn... I mean, Lady Lyndis... We'll be together always!

:rpgcodex: Am I allowed to watch? :smug:

xpx5L.png
Really? Oh, that pleases me so...but... Please don't call me Lady Lyndis. For you, I'm still Lyn.

TwMje.png
My pegasus and I fly for your house now. I am your servant. There are rules to follow.

xpx5L.png
Florina!

TwMje.png
I'm happiest when I'm with you. That's more important than how I address you... Please...

xpx5L.png
I suppose I'll just have to get used to it, right? Very well. I understand.

oVtKP.png

TwMje.png
Oops! I mean... Lady Lyndis!

xpx5L.png
Ha ha ha... Oh, Florina!

:rpgcodex: Sickeningly cute.

d3Qrl.png

:rpgcodex: I'm sure no one will notice you around here anyway.

xpx5L.png
Wil? Weren't you planning on returning home?

6WhzE.png
Well, I was, but... I've grown quite fond of Lyndis's Legions, you know... I couldn't possibly leave everyone behind. I'll send word to my family regarding my decision.

xpx5L.png
I'm pleased to have you, Wil.

6WhzE.png
Thank you, milady.

0Dw32.png

:rpgcodex: Yes, I am. I didn't want to say it before the others, but... everything has changed, Lyn. You've got your Grandfather now, the eye of the Lycian League, and I know that your eyes are on that Eliwood. I... things were different when it was just me and you on the plains, but now? I've seen too much and...well..I know that I'm no longer needed.

xpx5L.png
No, I'm not asking you to stay. It's just... I'll miss you. When I found you unconscious on the plains... I had no idea we would be together for so long. You've helped us so much, and I'm sure you've learned all you can from us. That's from someone who's seen you at work!

:rpgcodex: Words are just that. Words. They mean nothing without action to back them up.

Z86Tn.png

xpx5L.png
I'm sure that I will someday...

Exactly me reaction when I finished this campaign.

:rpgcodex:

Plenty of new ones... and a few familiar as well.

Meh... stupid pokemon have better character progression. I liked what they did with Sacred stones, though - that you could choose which class you wanted to advance to. That some of them had interesting bonuses was a good thing to

Level ups are random. They are weighted, and I think each character has a maximum - but they are random.

Like I think Sain has a 60% of increasing in Strength at a level up, while Kent is 50%.

A knight in service to house Caelin. Virtuous to a fault.

2HKUX.png

Kent, Knight of Lycia

For his bravery in fulfilling his command, Kent is named Knight Commander of Caelin. It is a high honor for one so young, but no one denies his worth.

~~~
A knight in service to house Caelin. A bit of a scoundrel.
VbeLW.png
Sain, Knight of Lycia
Sain has earned the honor of being named subcommander of the Caelin knights. Despite his promotion, he still scoffs at authority and woos the village girls. He is much loved by the citizenry.
~~~

A pegasus knight earning her title. A friend of Lyn's.

rhtlC.png

Florina, Pegasus Knight of Ilia

Florina has arranged to stay in Caelin. She spends her every waking hour in rigorous training, hoping to become invaluable to Lyn. Her fear of men has lessened, but...only slightly.

~~~
A youth from Pherae, in the Lycian League. Very social.
FuVqh.png
Wil, Archer of Pherae
With his cheery outlook and his happy-go-lucky demeanor, Wil has become quite dear to Marquess Caelin's household. Kent is teaching him banners befitting a sworn man of Castle Caelin.
~~~

A man from a small village in Bern. Fights for his wife.

duhZu.png

Dorcas, Fighter of Bern

Once Lyn's true heritage is recognized in Caelin, Dorcas returns to his home in Bern. There, he cares for his wife and makes a good living as a mercenary, fighting the local bandits.

~~~
A cleric in service to House Ostia. Headstrong and bold.
SROcQ.png
Serra, Cleric of Ostia
Ultimately, Erk succeeds in seeing Serra safely to Ostia. While her behavior is irritating at best, she is sorely missed. Her ascerbic tongue has become legendary.
~~~

A young mage from Eturia. Charming, but uptight.

se3Z4.png

Erk, the Wandering Mage

His contract with Serra complete, Erk sets off for Eturia. His time as a mercenary is just part of his training, and he is glad to see it end. He has since returned to his mentor.

~~~
A young hired sword from the Kutolah tribe.
Rath, the Sacaen Nomad
~~~

A traveling acolyte. Gentle and serene.

GiqfR.png

Lucius, the Traveling Monk

Lucius studies in Caelin for a time, but he departs after recieving summons to another land. He has since been seen traveling with a hard-eyed mercenary.

~~~
A retired knight of Caelin. Constantly testing himself.
5Y8Ky.png
Wallace, the Caelin General
For Wallace, Lyn's struggle only whets his appetite for battle. He sets off in search of a cause worthy of his blade. He lacks any sense of direction, so it may be years before he returns.
~~~

A young girl from the Lorca tribe. Stouthearted and kind.

iKsjC.png

Lyn, the Swordfighter from Sacae

Lyn now lives with her grandfather as Lady Lyndis of Castle Caelin. Under her loving care, Lord Hausen recovers, and now the two of them go for many walks in the Caelin gardens. On clear, dry nights, Lyn can be seen high atop a hill near the castle. Perhaps she is remembering the home of her youth, the plains of Sacae.
