Yeah.
It looks that today is the "next Thursday" I was talking about back in March.
But let's not get your hopes high, people!
It's not gonna be old PC classic. It's not gonna be new PC newshit.
It's gonna be declined popamole console oldshit.
I completed CBFD for the first time a couple of months ago and found it LP-worthy right away.
AFAIK this game is considered a total
of the developer (Rare), due to it's popamole gameplay and lack of EXTREME platforming, but it doesn't mean it isn't worth a LP...
TBH I found the game quite funny and charming, and its weaknesses don't overshadow its strong points. BTW, let's list them:
- rock-solid gameplay and controls (haters gonna hate),
- sense of humor (should be right up 'Dex alley - piss, shit, sex, mindless violence, etc.),
- furries,
- good writing (for a platformer),
- voice acting ranging from decent to awesome,
- truly EPIC boss battles,
- non-violent approach works at least as good as in Fallout 2,
- introduces the AWESOME button 10 years before Dragon Age 2,
- inspired Psychonauts in more areas than Tim Schafer would admit,
- last game published for Nintendo 64 - one of the shittiest consoles made by Nintendo (the competition is severe recently, though).
What I found especially great is the fact, that the game is full of more or less obscure movie / book / game references.
It looks like the devs went out of ideas for the story around 1/3 of the game and decided to simply cram into it as many pop-culture references as possible.
Which should end in a disaster, but this time it didn't.
This stuff is one of the main reasons for LP-ing the game - moar on it later.
1. About the LP
In order to expand the fanbase of my epic LPs and reach for the newfag, post-2010 audience, I've decided to make my LPs much more accessible from now on. It should lead to much more streamlined and focused experience.
Since the screenshots + text mechanics are becoming more and more obsolete with every LP in the Playground, I've decided to move on with the times, jump on the bandwagon, stop hitting
on the dead horse, etc.
:/
Yeah, I've registered on YewTube.
Initially I was thinking about classic LP, but you would be missing on the awesome voice-acting that way. So... yeah.
Besides, who doesn't love cutscenes?
2. Technical stuff
I will be using a stolen beta of Project64 - 1.7.0.50 with following settings:
I'm using older version of Glide64 plugin, since the recent ones have some problems with properly displaying the output in full screen (an upper part of the screen is missing - wrong aspect ratio or some shit).
There are still some problems with emulation, mainly with shadows and audio slowdowns / stuttering, but nothing major IMO.
3. About the game
MobyGames said:
Conker's Bad Fur Day is a grotesque counterpart to Rare's cheerful, child-oriented 3D action platformers (such as for example Banjo-Kazooie). Intense swearing, violence, and instances of "toilet humor" co-exist with cute animals and a brightly colorful fantasy world. The game also contains segments that parody famous movies, such as The Matrix, Terminator, and others.
The core of the gameplay is 3D platform action. Conker can jump, climb, swim, and attack enemies with various weapons (the default one being a frying pan). Conker can also collect money, which is sometimes needed to advance to a new area. The game world is reasonably open, containing an overworld from which the player can access large levels that take a while to explore. Talking to characters and performing tasks offered by them is one of the main devices used to advance the plot and unlock a different area.

At what point did Rare turn into a shitty company?
When they decided to make games exclusively about shit. Just like
The game with barely any actual GAMEPLAY, that only sold by "merit" of being made entirely of poop jokes, only enjoyable to retarded 8-year olds (or teenage USians, which are retarded by definition).
4. About reader involvement in the LP (rules)
Rule #1:
Your main way of waving your e-penis / e-clit around by posting in this LP should be simple - find as many pop-culture references in the game as possible.
And there's a shitload of them, trust me (mainly in later half of the game).
But there's one rule:
Simply posting the reference is not enough - you have to post a proof (YewTube clip, IMDB Quote, etc.)
An example:
A. Doing it wrong:
It's this guy from this Vietnam movie, you know which one!
B. Doing it right:
Private Joker: I wanted to see exotic Vietnam... the crown jewel of Southeast Asia. I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture... and kill them. I wanted to be the first kid on my block to get a confirmed kill!
or
Rule #2:
No spoilers.
Shit like:
OLOLO my fav scene is when she unzips her pants and it turns out that she is actually a [massive fucking spoilers fucking up my well-thought-out plan to troll the readers who didn't play the game
Will be penalized.
You can check Youtube clips from this game and play smart when I post some scene (OLOLO it's from Citizen Kain, man! I'm so edgy & elite!), but NOT before I post it (OLOLO next scene gonna be epic, and my fav moment is when...).
Yeah - I know you fuckers well enough. Just try your luck you fucking cunts.
Alrighty - should be enough.
Nobody reads initial posts anyway.
Yeah. Let's press it.
:/
001. Enter the Squirrel <--- yeah, that's a link
002. Conker the King
We can see King Conker enjoying his drink:
Thinking about the events that happened a day before. And what a day it was. It was, after all...
One more thing:
If you show enough of disinterest, I'm gonna reconsider my comeback.
