Berevra

Berevra is the sister of the mermaid queen, Chloeri. She fell in love with a human and left the mermaid sanctuary with the sacred spear.

She thanks you for protecting Eleanor, but denies what Rictor said about her being Eleanor's mother.

Fuck, so I'm not THAT special in the end...

She then proceeds to tell you her history.

Berevra's Story

400 years ago, during the war, I met a man who was opposed to the war. He was gentle and kind. But, he was still a human, an enemy of mermaids. I feared for his life, so I took the Sacred Spear in hopes of ending the war... I sacrificed many mermaid lives by doing so.
Back then, passion overruled my reasoning. I abandoned the home of mermaids and lived secretly with my love, Lucius.
However, it wasn't long before he passed away. The lifespan of humans is much shorter than ours.

After his death, I left that place, taking the Spear with me. It was too difficult to me to remain in a place that reminded me of him.
However, since I had betrayed my kind, I didn't have anywhere to go. I lacked even a courage to take my own life.
I wandered the eastern sea, searching for a way to repent. For the last few hundred years, I have lived here alone.

End of Berevra's Story

For hundreds of years... all by yourself...

About 10 years ago, soldiers landed on the south side of this island. They surrounded a nearby town and burned it down. While I watched from the ocean...

I heard crying... I found a newborn baby wrapped in a blanket.

That was... me?

(So Eleanor is ~ 10 years old ATM? Damn, I almost fucked a minor! They grow up so fast...)

Holding her in my arms... She was so adorable...

But, I was afraid that she wouldn't be able to adjust in society, if I raised her.

Right! Adjusting in society is very important!

I knew I couldn't keep her, so I asked a couple in a northern village to look after her.

I don't remember well... but the scent of the ocean and the sound of crashing waves... When I saw you at the beach by the village, you seemed so familiar...

I didn't think you'd remember me, since you were so small. I used to hold you and watch the dawn from Aquila Beach.

Eleanor, I'm sorry you had such hard life.

Don't be! My step-parents in Sotavento treated me very well. Thank you, Berevra...

Eleanor told me that you're looking for the Sacred Spear. I've also heard that this island's had many visitors recently.

Alphonse tries mermaid-diplomacy:

He gives a little speech about his promise, and about how he trusts Cybil.
He also goes on about how the world is, how the island is, and why he can't let anyone have the Spear outside of those he trusts.

After hearing all this, Berevra tells you where the Spear is:

(Fuck yeah! I'm gonna start my career as Darth Alphonse in no time!)

After all that, Alphonse tells Berevra that she can finally go home.

Now, what the fuck?

It's time to change the cartridge or sth?

Chapter Two

Introduction

Rictor Lasanti, visiting as a representative of Felis, announced in the month of Oceano that the White Fang Troops of Rananculus had withdrawn from Anser.

Although the plans of the Batraals and their troops were never discovered, since they had retreated, the issue was assumed to have been resolved.

For the time being, the Order of the Sacred Flame was stationed in Scabellum, preparing to return to Felis.

Meanwhile, after meeting the golden mermaid Berevra, Alphonse and Eleanor rejoined Cybil.

Alphonse and the others were stationed at Formido, the former stronghold of the troops of Rananculus, researching the history of the spear.

The Batraals have a long history on this island. They rose to power after the war with the mermaids and relocated to the northern part of the island.

It would come as no surprise if the heirs of the Batraals knew of the Sacred Spear.

The island's stormy season was quickly coming to an end, and it would soon be replaced by calmer autumn weather.

End of the Introduction

We first rejoin our hero in a meeting with Cybil and a few advisors. As it turns
out, Rictor is moving north with a few subordinates, heading toward Naja.

The scout also reports that the rest of his troops not traveling with him will
return to Felis when the next boat arrives... What this indicates, Cybil says,
is that he is now acting on his own... and that Felis is also looking for the spear.

After a bit more talk of politics, you learn that a war might start between Felis and the Church of Lodis over the Spear, if it's put into the wrong hands.

To further the depth of all the scheming, it's now very possible that the Duke of Felis (Rictor's dad) was in league with the Lord of
Rananculus (Ivanna's uncle). Otherwise, how could Felis have ordered so many troops to the island to "quell the rebellion?"

Alphonse is not sure about this whole scheme. He brings up his capture at Formido and Rictor's pursue of the White Fang Troops to Urodela.

From Ivanna, we learn that one of the Batraals of old was probably the Lucius who Berevra fell in love with!

Cybil raises another issue. 15 years ago, William Batraal (Ivanna's father) passed away, and his brother Naris succeeded him...

Fuck me sideways, this gaem's plot is EXTREMELY deep!

It also seems that Alphonse and Eleanor are the only ones knowing the current location of the Spear:

Finally, the scout gives us two PROTIPS:

1) Some survivors are currently living in Blete again (the town that was burned down 10 years ago, during the Reformation).

2) There's also a skilled magician living in the ruins north of Tinea.

Unusual fellow?

One more scene awaits us, before we can go.

We see Eleanor and Alphonse, talking about the plans for movement. Apparently, Eleanor isn't
too crazy about going through the Naja Forest. She says that the north side of the forest is very different from southern side.
It starts snowing at the end of fall there, and the ground is usually covered with deep snow.

She is scared of the forest, because of her memories of running away from her hometown during an assault.
After some chatter, Eleanor gets to the point:

Alphonse, having a thing for his teammates equipment, gladly accepts:

World map at last!

We have three destination points available ATM: Vespa, Gryllus or Belleza.

Sideqests? In mah POPAMOLE handheld gaem? More likely than you think it seems...

We've witnessed a classical hostile takeover (Wall-Street style), when a regular female soldier was possessed and assimilated by Deneb Rhode, a.k.a. the Witch 2.0.

Deneb Rhode

Deneb is a witch that appears in every Ogre Battle game. She makes a cameo appearance as a hidden character in Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis too.
Her magic skills are excellent and her special skill is a super charm technique called Temptation.
She can use support spells (same as regular witch) and also: Faith, Tranquillize, Cursed Existence and... summons.

I'm not gonna use her in combat, but when we have her in the team, a special shop becomes available.
Oh, she can't change classes too:

I've decided to go to Gryllus first, in order to start our 1st sidequest.

Battle 12 - Gryllus Forest

Undead? Fuck yeah! I'm gonna be super-useful in this mission!

Fornix equips two anti-undead spells:

Enemy Units: Ghost x 2, Undead Soldier (M) x 2, Undead Soldier (F) x 2, Undead Wizard (M) x 2

That's right, people! That's our first fight against the undead.
What's so special about them, you may ask... Well, they're un-dead, which means they don't die when KO'ed.
To get rid of them we have to use either Faith spell (banishes KO'ed undead units before they raise again) or even better - Exorcism spell (banishes active undead units). Only Clerics and Priests can use such spells, that's why Fornix is so useful in this mission.

All enemies are Lv. 14.

We also meet ghosts for the 1st time:

They're so hardcore, that they don't even have an alignment, only an element (Bane). They can teleport too.

BRO goes EXTREME before the fight:

LtGenma & BRO move NW (ford). Clocky misses 1st male soldier, Yeesh hits 1st female soldier with a shuriken. Casters use Leafs.

Ghosts teleport close to our units:

Other enemies move close / attack using bows.

Motherfuckers!

Fornix uses Exorcism.

Notice that it's not an insta-hit spell. It has % of success.
But Fornix doesn't disappoint:

Clocky attacks 2nd female soldier, Yeesh misses her.
Freyja attacks 1st wizard. Wizards still have 0 MP, so they should not pose a thread for a moment.
LtGenma attacks the ghost:

BRO misses him.
Tits & Dragonfk attack 1st wizard and a male soldier:

Undead mages use their spells

Ghost attacks LtGenma with Nightmare, but LtGenma is still awake.

Fornix doesn't have enough MP to cast another Exorcism spell. BRO stimulates her with Magic Leaf. She continues her exorcisms:

Female soldier and 1st wizard are gone, but the ghost survived. Fornix levels up.

Clocky attacks 2nd wizard with his skill:

Yeesh and Tits try to kill wizard and female soldier with a fire. LtGenma and Freyja KO the male soldier. He doesn't die of course:

Enemy turn: enemies spread out, using their ranged attacks.

Hey, that's a fuckin' incline when compared to standard enemy AI... Maybe it's because they're undead?

Tits attacks the ghost, Clocky misses the wizard, Yeesh KOs him:

Freyja KOs the ghost and levels up.

LtGenma PWNs the female soldier.

To my surprise... mission ends. :shock:

This shop has some really bizarre stuff: Candy Helm, Chocolate Shield, Candy Armor, Fur Coat, Sacrificial Doll, Sacred Stone of Bliss and an Orb.
These things are quite expensive and not that useful, so I've decided not to buy anything (at least for now)...

Since Yeesh already meets the AGI requirement for Swordmaster class, I've decided to make him a Knight (to level up his STR faster):

Battle 13 - Prologue

As you enter the field of battle, you're met by a young spellcaster, Euphaire.
She seems to be a bit surprised that we've gone through the forest of Gryllus, but she plans to make up for that.

It must be like in Tactics advance, if you ko'ed all the undead units you won even if you didn't use holy weapons. I guess that while the undead were "resting" the soldiers dismembered all of them until they wouldn't pose a threath.

Battle 13 - Blete Ruins

Enemy Units: Euphaire, Warlock, Undead Knight x 3, Undead Wizard x 2, Zombie Dragon

This shit looks serious, people!

Euphaire not only has a summon spell equipped, she can also increase MP of her allies with her special skill (at the cost of her own HP).

Both wizards have Area-Effect spells. Warlock can transfer his MP to other units with Fluid Magic:

There's also a Zombie Dragon:

His special attack can damage our equipment's ability.

Enemies are Lv. 14 except Euphaire.

Euphaire goes EXTREME at the beginning:

Knights advance NE (too bad they're much slower when compared to ninjas). Casters move W, use Leafs.

Clocky hits 1st knight and levels up

Enemy turn:

1st knight attacks LtGenma and gets CAed. Wizard use bows, Euphaire supports one of the wizards:

Of course, she did it wrong - you should target 1-2 units with summon spells to make them most effective.

Freyja hits Warlock too. Fornix banishes another undead unit with Faith spell, Tits & Dragonfk advance towards Euphaire.

Enemy turn: Warlock runs away, heals himself, Euphaire uses Energy Transfer on him.

Freyja hits Warlock, BRO kills him.

Tits attacks Euphaire, Clocky KOs her and levels up.

Euphaire babbles something before falling to the ground:

After the battle, we see Euphaire, laying unconscious in bed. Suddenly, something looking like a puff of smoke leaves her body:

Fuck! She's no longer under control!

Basically, her mother's spirit left her body (the puff of smoke) and now she is normal again.

Define "normal"...

Euphaire

Euphaire is a shaman that offers to join the hero on his mission after she is no longer possessed. She can use summon and non-bane/non-virtue spells plus Necromancy.

A few years after the soldiers from Lodis left, she was killed by bandits that attacked our town. My father called her soul back with a spell, and she possessed my body.

Fuck! It's like 'me joining the Codex' thing!

The dead and the living are not meant to share the same body.

The next day, we see Eleanor and Alphonse walking through Blete.

Quest Mode is an extra mode in which you can grab items depending on how well
you perform in battle. You choose a certain number of units to fight against
an enemy team, and depending on how quickly you can fulfill the victory
condition, you get items of varying quality. No experience is gained in Quest Mode maps.

You can unlock new Quest Mode maps when you obtain scrolls during the campaign or in Quest Mode.

Since speed is the issue here, I've decided to use BRO, Dragonfk, Freyja, Tits and Clocky.

All units advance forward, everybody except Clocky use Magic Leafs, Tits uses Magic Seed:

Freyja attacks the ninja & male soldier with a spell, BRO & Tits attack the ninja, Dragonfk kills him

But due to her low INT enemy was only attacked five times, one attack missed too.

Calais attacks Dragonfk with an ice spell too, but it wasn't super-effective:

Wizard dies. BRO attacks the soldier, casters attack Calais:

Enemy turn: Soldier attacks Clocky, leader attacks Tits.

Turn 5:

Clocky shoots the soldier in the back. Fucker has huge Physical Defense...

Oh, that's why...

BRO & Freyja pummel Fordam with spells, Tits & Dragonfk attack Calais.

Tits kills Calais, other units attack Fordam, BRO kills him:

Both Surgat and his remaining dog attack Clocky (nobody likes demi-humans it seems):

You're taken to Naja Forest, where you see a scene with Rictor (who is accompanied by two knights).
Rictor meets up with a "Mysterious Girl", who he apparently knows and calls Malicia.

However, when he approaches her, she runs off into the forest.

Clocky moves to the higher ground, attacks one of the ninjas but misses horribly (crossbows sucks!)

1st valkyrie blocks our path up. We should kill her 1st.
Dragonfk & Freyja attack 1st valkyrie and 1st ninja, Freyja levels up.

Yeesh misses Elrik, Clocky misses him too, hits Yeesh instead LtGenma finally hits him, Freyja & Tits hit him with spells, but due to his high Spell Defense, fucker is still standing.
Dragonfk hits Fornix with his wang, levels up.

After some turns with our units missing Elrik horribly, Clocky finally does the job:

Battle 15 - Epilogue

After the battle, Elrik converses with both Euphaire and Alphonse (well, it's
more like Alphonse just observes the other two). Elrik says we have the right
to kill him, but asks if Euphaire is upset with him.

Euphaire responds innocently and inquires about what he means:

Santo Fucking Hesus, a father with a killing intent against his own daughter! What a tweest!

Elrik

Elrik is Euphaire's father and a summoner by profession. He can use two summon or non-bane/non-virtue spells plus Necromancy. He also possesses a technique called Summon Golem where he creates a doll that self-destructs next to an enemy, inflicting damage.

After another bit of a conversation, where you learn that he was experimenting
with a spell of spiritual transference, he states that, "It's futile to keep
the souls of the dead in this world."

A bit more dialogue follows, but finally... Elrik offers to join you:

BRO, having a thing for summoners with a dysfunctional family, gladly accepts:

The conversation goes on, it turns out that Elrik may be a necrophile, but at least he's not a grapphixwhore:

At that moment I realized that at some point in the past I forgot to make a quicksave after loading the savegame with our stuff won in 1st Quest Mode mission.

I've checked class requirements for LtGenma, Fornix & Yeesh. They're 1-2 levels from their preferred classes. Yet, LtGenma still doesn't have Dragon's Scale emblem, an emblem that cannot be acquired in training.

Let's do some dragon-killin' now!
We move to Sufrir and run into enemies there:

Two Green Dragons for LtGenma to kill! Enemies are Lv. 15-16.

BRO receives another emblem:

LtGenma kills two dragons, receives Lancer emblem (he hit Fornix by total accident).

Still, no Dragon's Scale emblem for him.

I've decided to deploy Yeesh, Ivanna (Lv. 4) and Fornix (healer).

Ivanna tries to hit Yeesh, but due to the difference in their stats, she misses. Twice.

Yeesh receives an emblem:

He uses Sword Emblem, rising his STR to 95.

We leave the training.

Battle 16 - Prologue

When you arrive at Naja, you're greeted by a Siren, Grevis, who apparently has some history with Alphonse.

Who's that slut? You've never mentioned her before!

Chill out hon', it's an old story...

As it turns out, Rictor went to meet the Lord of Rananculus, and he left these troops behind knowing you would follow him.

tl;dr

Battle 16 - Naja Forest

Enemy Units: L - Siren (Grevis), Wizard (F) x 2, Knight (F) x 2, Cleric (F), Soldier (F), Witch

We'll be murdering only females this time!

Enemies are Lv. 16, except Grevis:

Grevis has another summon equipped, the Witch can use Fluid Magic to help her.

This map is huge, so it takes us some time to reach the enemy. Too bad that Warp Shoos suck ass - Tits can teleport only for a short distance:

Clocky starts the battle hitting 1st knight.
The witch transfers her MP to Grevis, she uses her summon against Clocky, Freyja & BRO:

But mostly misses.

I could end this battle fast, killing Grevis, but that would be wrong...

Clocky attacks 1st knight with his skill, but only for ~30 HP.
BRO attacks her too...

Only 36 HP? WTF?

It turns out that both female knights have very high Physical Defense, due to their equipment:

LtGenma attacks 2nd knight for some damage. Tits steps in, summons Salamander:

Dragonfk & Yeesh attack her, Yeesh levels up.

One of the wizards attacks Yeesh & LtGenma with Firestorm, Grevis uses Gnome again (Fornix, Dragonfk, Tits), but once again, her attacks miss most of the time. Knights run away, heal themselves.

Tits attacks Natasha and 1st wizard (Luna), finds buried treasure and receives another emblem:

Enemy soldiers are weak against magic, strong against physical attacks, enemy casters - vice versa.

LtGenma attacks the same units as Tits, but with his spear:

Battle 16 - Epilogue

We see a scene in Ostorea Castle.

A guard appears before both Lord Naris Batraal and Nichart, announcing Rictor's arrival.

Naris Batraal

Naris is the Lord of Rananculus. He is an uncle of Ivanna Batraal. The prevailing rumor is that he killed his brother, Lord William Batraal (Ivanna's father) so that he could gain power and authority.

It seems Nichart is a bit worried about Rictor, but Naris doesn't seem to fear him. He points out that Rictor only came with a few troops, and:

As it turns out, Naris is willing to cooperate with Rictor, but only to gain the spear:

This is also when we get an introduction to 'The Twins': Lethe and Cirvante.

Nichart is apparently apprehensive about them:

But Naris tells him to STFU & GTFO:

Shortly after Nichart leaves the room, Cirvante shows up:

Cirvante is a venefic (powerful sorcerer). He and his twin sister Lethe agreed to help Naris obtain the sacred spear. Their true intentions for helping Naris are unknown.

I was researching the folklore of this island and of the Sacred Spear. Longicolnis means 'long horn'. I can give you more details in the library.

Both Naris and Cirvante leave the throne room.
