A for Awesomeness wins the poll.

Clearing goblin caves wasn't effective enough, it definitely didn't affect their brethren on the surface.

Like if it wasn't enough a wyvern joined the party.

DA2LP66-10.jpg

Thankfully, a new wave of ghasts grabbed her attention else we wouldn't have survived.

DA2LP66-11.jpg

DA2LP66-12.jpg

face-merrill.jpg
Hahren Paivel used to tell stories about wyverns.
face-merrill.jpg
The "never go to the mountains where they hunt because whole Dalish clans have vanished" sort.
face-merrill.jpg
They never had happy endings. Except for the wyvern chicks, I guess.

Later several gangs of Qunari outcasts tried to hinder Hawke's progress.

face-merrill.jpg
Was that a Qunari or a Tal-Vashoth? I can never tell the difference.
face-tallis.jpg
Tal-Vashoth. Like Salit, but for sale. He must be close.

DA2LP66-18.jpg

face-tallis.jpg
Are you married?
face-hawke66.jpg
Why?
face-tallis.jpg
It's just... you're the Champion of Kirkwall. Big. Important. I don't know.
face-tallis.jpg
Just... wondering if there's a little woman behind the throne.
face-hawke66.jpg
Let's keep moving.

Their leader was still breathing. Tallis interrogated him using Qunari language.

Then she just slit his throat without remorse.

face-tallis.jpg
Salit is already here. He's meeting with the duke at the base of the mountain.
face-hawke66.jpg
Then we're going the wrong way.
face-tallis.jpg
We need to get down there before it's too late.

Screw that, the map revealed the alternative way. No way Hawke will step into this mess again.

DA2LP66-32.jpg

face-hawke66.jpg
More Qunari!
face-tallis.jpg
Tal-Vashoth!
face-hawke66.jpg
You know what I mean.

DA2LP66-33.jpg

:(

There was no other option.

DA2LP66-34.jpg

It was the meeting place where exchange between sellout Qunari and Duke Prosper was supposed to happen.

da2lp66-35.jpg

face-prosper.jpg
Let's get this over with, Qunari, before your assassins find us. Already I regret agreeing to spare them.
face-salit.jpg
I have chosen my path. That choice should not--
face-prosper.jpg
Parshaara.
face-prosper.jpg
I am here to facilitate your deal with the empress, nothing more.

Ex-Qunari drew his double blades, prompting duke's guard to take defensive stance.

da2lp66-36.jpg

But he didn't turn hostile. He slammed the swords into the ground and demonstrated his part of the bargain.

da2lp66-37.jpg

da2lp66-38.jpg

One of the duke's bodyguards checked its contents.

da2lp66-39.jpg

face-prosper.jpg
Well?
face-minion.jpg
Names, Your Grace. It's... a list of names.

In a burst of anger Prosper grabbed the scroll from bodyguard's grasp.

da2lp66-40.jpg

da2lp66-41.jpg

face-prosper.jpg
What is the meaning of this?
face-salit.jpg
You asked for a weapon. I am providing it.
face-prosper.jpg
We expected the formula for blackpowder! Dreadnought plans, a map of Qunandar, anything! This... this is useless!
face-minion.jpg
Your Grace!

Enter the Champion.

da2lp66-42.jpg

face-prosper.jpg
Champion. I should have known you would turn up.

Meanwhile Tallis had managed to infiltrate the guard.

da2lp66-43.jpg

face-hawke66.jpg
I've been waiting for this, Orlesian.
face-prosper.jpg
You dare address me thus, pissant.

Tallis performed extreme backflip and ended up at the vantage on the ruined wall.

da2lp66-44.jpg

da2lp66-45.jpg

da2lp66-46.jpg

face-salit.jpg
Tallis.
face-tallis.jpg
I said I would stop you, Salit.
face-salit.jpg
And I said I would slay you if you tried.
face-prosper.jpg
If anyone is to do any slaying, it will be me!

Duke charged his crossbow.

da2lp66-47.jpg

A bolt hit traitor's mighty chest. However it was no simple lethal projectile. Instead it marked the Qunari with some green substance.

da2lp66-48.jpg

da2lp66-49.jpg

da2lp66-50.jpg

da2lp66-51.jpg

da2lp66-52.jpg

da2lp66-53.jpg

Turned out to be a bait for his pet wyvern.

face-prosper.jpg
Kill them all.

So that culminated in a most tedious boss fight outside of the Ancient Rock Wraith at the Deep Roads.

da2lp66-54.jpg

da2lp66-55.jpg

At first Leopold the wyvern didn't participate in the battle face to face. Instead he was spitting poison at party's location which dealt negligible but consistent damage.

da2lp66-56.jpg

da2lp66-57.jpg

da2lp66-58.jpg

Duke himself was constantly summoning reinforcements, both two- and four-legged.

da2lp66-59.jpg

da2lp66-60.jpg

da2lp66-61.jpg

After receiving his share of beatings Duke retreated, prompting his pet to fight instead of him.

da2lp66-62.jpg

da2lp66-63.jpg

Poisoned food couldn't seriously debilitate the wyvern, but at least it slowed him down.

da2lp66-64.jpg

da2lp66-65.jpg

da2lp66-66.jpg

da2lp66-67.jpg

da2lp66-68.jpg

da2lp66-69.jpg

Stupid beast was too focused on a target that duke designated for him, allowing the rest of the party to take easy potshots at him.

da2lp66-70.jpg

The beast was humiliated enough. Duke took the reigns.

da2lp66-71.jpg

da2lp66-72.jpg

da2lp66-73.jpg

da2lp66-74.jpg

It was the hardest phase by far. In addition to standard arsenal of attacks duke scattered the entire battlefield with explosive bolt. Even collateral damage was high enough to take a party member down.

da2lp66-75.jpg

da2lp66-76.jpg

The battle was nearly lost, yet Hawke had one grenade of resurrection in his pockets. With both mages alive the chances of victory were still high.

da2lp66-77.jpg

da2lp66-78.jpg

da2lp66-79.jpg

Though Duke and his pet had one noticeable and easily exploitable weakness. Evading Leopold's charge attack while near the edge of the arena causes the beast to slip over the edge, leaving them completely defenseless until Leopold regains balance.

da2lp66-80.jpg

da2lp66-81.jpg

da2lp66-82.jpg

da2lp66-83.jpg

da2lp66-84.jpg

da2lp66-85.jpg

da2lp66-86.jpg

Later he switched to using napalm bombs, I kid you not.

da2lp66-87.jpg

da2lp66-88.jpg

da2lp66-89.jpg

da2lp66-90.jpg

da2lp66-91.jpg

It ended up with a cutscene.

da2lp66-92.jpg

da2lp66-93.jpg

da2lp66-94.jpg

da2lp66-95.jpg

da2lp66-96.jpg

da2lp66-97.jpg

Hawke masterfully dodged the beast and cut his leg. Could have done that many times before. Goodbye, scalie.

da2lp66-98.jpg

Duke managed to hold onto the edge of the cliff.

da2lp66-99.jpg

face-prosper.jpg
Keep away from me!
face-prosper.jpg
The empress will hear of this! Orlais will burn Kirkwall to the ground! All of you will die screaming, I swear it!
face-hawke66.jpg
And who is going to tell her?
face-prosper.jpg
You wouldn't dare!
face-hawke66.jpg
Wouldn't I?

da2lp66-100.jpg

May you meet your pet in the afterlife, you pretentious dipshit.

da2lp66-101.jpg

da2lp66-102.jpg

face-bethany.jpg
Oh, ouch.

face-tallis.jpg
Ataash varin kata.
face-tallis.jpg
If the duke only knew what he nearly had in his grasp.
face-tallis.jpg
Thank you. There's no way I could have done this without your help.
face-hawke66.jpg
What is the scroll?
face-tallis.jpg
This is a list of agent throughout Thedas. Qunari like myself.
face-tallis.jpg
Many of them have children, family, friends. They're people you wouldn't suspect.
face-tallis.jpg
Some have even left the Qun behind. But if this list fell into human hands, they and everyone they know...
face-hawke66.jpg
Would be killed.
face-tallis.jpg
The Ariqun believes they knew the risks, but what about the innocents? I... I couldn't let this happen.

Instead of pursuing romance Hawke went all serious.

da2lp66-103.jpg

face-hawke66.jpg
Now that I know what that scroll is, hand it over.
face-tallis.jpg
After all of this? Everything I've done to get the list back, you really think I'd just give it to you because you're being cross?
face-hawke66.jpg
Tallis...
face-tallis.jpg
No. But I have something you might find more valuable.
face-tallis.jpg
Here.

da2lp66-104.jpg

da2lp66-105.jpg

face-tallis.jpg
That was going to be the Heart of the Many. You'd find a jewel, while I'd go off and find Salit... and be back before anyone was the wiser.
face-tallis.jpg
I suppose nothing ever goes like we plan, does it?
face-tallis.jpg
Take care of yourself, Hawke. Maybe we'll meet again sometime.

So that's it bros: no goodbye kiss or anything. :(

face-cassandra.jpg
Let me guess: you haven't seen Tallis since that day.
face-varric.jpg
A safe assumption, given her nature.
face-cassandra.jpg
And who is left to appease Orlais after a duke's murder at the hands of the Champion of Kirkwall?
face-varric.jpg
Prosper invited it by dealing with Tal-Vashoth. Possibly under orders from Empress Celene.
face-varric.jpg
Imagine the scandal if that was known.
face-cassandra.jpg
If you believe a Qunari agent.
face-varric.jpg
That's the difficult part, isn't it.
face-varric.jpg
I don't know why Hawke helped Tallis. I suppose she was pretty for a Qunari.
face-varric.jpg
Whatever the reason, I doubt it's the last we've seen of her.
face-varric.jpg
But what do I know? I just tell stories.

THE END

Regarding option B: it ends up with exactly the same boss encounter, except the corridor leading to it is slightly different and you have to do without Tallis.

Yea, full-retard romance would have been appropriate.

But would option B have changed anything?

Thanks again for the time you spent on this !

It would have been annoying if the game had simply prevented you from taking any interest in the scroll and the valuable names on it. The fact that you can ask for it but are apparently unable to insist after being offered a dumb jewel pisses me off.

You know, the innocent people that happen to be spies and enemy agents

Many of them have children, family, friends. They're people you wouldn't suspect.
So? Were does that changes the fact they happen to be spying for the enemy?

Some have even left the Qun behind. But if this list fell into human hands, they and everyone they know...

And the ones that do not? Lets talk about the casualties they cause in the battlefield and how about what comes after ... you know, the re-education camps.

And lets talk about the fact they could also be found out the old fashion way of getting caught, also how about the ones that "left" but likely did something naught and one day someone knocks on their door because of that ...

No, lets ignore all that.

Looking over the screens of this game, I just realized I might not ever go back to playing pause-able real time games again. They were fun for me when they were the first RPGs I played, but now I feel that they look and feel very primitive, both in their handling and in their quality of encounters.

Like an action game without action and a strategy game without strategy. Fight with a Qurani group? Choose mighty blow mode for one guy, spells for another, normal attack for the rest, choose who attacks whom, and it all ends there. I was thinking of getting DA2, but the screenshots,.etc turn me off.

I thought Awesome Hawke was a manwhore, why'd he skip out on Tallis? Just to show we couldn't get the scroll? That would've been too interesting I suppose

You know, even as a villain Prosper continues to be a more sympathetic and enjoyable character than Tallis. Also, lol with you being absolutely unable to get that scroll.

So... You played the villain in this DLC? I mean you break into the household of a Duke that has done nothing to you, then murder his household, and then you help the Qunari, madmen who are hellbent on conquest and genocides everyone that doesn't agree with them in the aftermath...

So you give the scroll to the agent of the genocidal evil empire and that's it?
No consequences, no option to kill the bitch and purge your country of an extensive spy network?
The situation invites good writing with a multitude of choices and potential outcomes on both a personal and political scale, but no. Have a tacky jewel and fuck off back to your playpen.
My mind, it is full of fuck.

I am kind of impressed by the total lack of fucks the writers gave for the ending. I mean it's probably more difficult to write an ending like that for such a situation than it is to write a good ending.

This LP should be recorded for posterity, especially because Derp Age 3 could be even worse.
