Died commanding a flotilla of one. Should have stuck to mercenary work it seems. Good stuff!

You got really unlucky, although sure, a turn later you would just have just two more ships the toasters would blow up anyway. But maybe there would be enough tylium to retreat you.

The lesson I learned from that is that I should never leave officers around in small fleets, without other fleets around to protect them, unless I can retreat them.

Episode 7: Worst Colonial versus Noble Sons of Sagittaron

Previously on Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock

Grimgravy chose the worst time possible to command a 1 ship fleet.

Fleet Command figured out your can retreat ships during battles.

The Cylons started deploying heavier warships, Adamants start dropping like flies, the Battlestar Codexia was destroyed. Other losses include such famous ships as the Osiris and the Halsey.

The correct spelling of Sagittaron continues to elude fleet command.

Obligatory flashforward montage:

Some music:

I will no longer list names of battles except for missions. If the game kept unique naming for them it would make sense.

5cVEJok.png

Picon Fleet has its hands full if toasters, unluckily for the chrome domes Picon Fleet also has its hands full of warships.

W9jqECR.png

Well, not that many warships as we lost the Codexia.

i2Yl5PY.png

The Cylon force has 2 revenants, one of which eats missiles.

HCOp6gg.png

The second revenant eats the second missile salvo. Talons get into position to broadside Picon Fleet.

1vBwGQr.png

Those broadsides hurt but the Adamants were repositioned to take the hits on the sides still with plating.

fNTxz0x.png

Vipers finish off the last toaster boat.

fj7T89K.png

The Discovery got hit badly but overall no casualties.

P1f1OW4.png

Meanwhile toasters jump near Daidalos in space around Persephone. tindrli orders the fleet to prepare.

Z3SEchQ.png

The Cylon fleet is full of light ships, apart from our vipers eating Cerastes' gunfire this shouldn't be hard.

voucjMu.png

tindrli sends gifts at the toasters but they refuse to take them.

s1T7iNv.png

The second torpedo volley from our two rangers is more effective and managed to hit the light ships.

L8i8WA2.png

44UMiq2.png

Gemenon Fleet gets more guns. baud (I think baud II is leading it) will be happy.

DOl8uQX.png

We have two new Artemis Battlestars in production now. One has the very potato name Hussar. However please note that the names during production are randomly chosen and not saved, so when I continued the campaign the ship got renamed to something else.

:decline:

0TyMdw7.png

Speaking of ship names, the Sinan gets its typo corrected.

taCUntR.png

Picon Fleet gets new toaster fodder.

S5fzcK4.png

MercantileInterest reached the highest level of command authority and can now lead 8k point fleets. :incline:

tR0Dk4g.png

baud also gets a promotion as he already reached the 4k point cap so he could not take in more ships.

gBVRMgX.png

The construction of a new missile-rape ship begins.

sOXcX2N.png

Remember Aquaria Fleet or rather the merged Aquaria and Scorpia fleet remnants? Since it is useful again, we're going to use it to get more tylium for more warships. It is jumping to the secondary mission marker.

TjV9cTy.png

86bBkKb.png

These missions you pick when you really need RP. Best source of RP right after story missions. With the expansion though I think it is not as necessary to farm these for RP as the BA missions are pretty much mandatory anyway and they give good loot as well.

giqVFKQ.png

Well it is the last turn when this is available so lets go get it.

7l3tgWu.png

Very simple, the station cannot blow up. Unlike with the fraking tylium freighter, the toasters aren't as eager to rush for the station.

BUAhFx8.png

Eight ships, should be simple enough. However Aquaria Fleet is our lightest fleet so we might get outgunned.

QbuZMl2.png

The first identified contacts are light ships, this is good.

y5pFlg3.png

They seem eager to charge us (and not the objective) so we blast them with missiles.

mMGjEv8.png

And once our first salvo is spent and the tubes need to be reloaded, a Revenant shows up.

:rage:

BMpTIoG.png

Two Adamants get to know Revenant cannon fire intimately, however they survive for now which is long enough for the missile tubes to be reloaded.

LHWHt7P.png

Well, they survive just that long really. When they and the dreaded toaster gunbrick blow up another gunbrick shows up.

CrO4Jnl.png

Actually two more gunbricks. If only we had a ranger or two armed with torpedoes...

:rage:

yGNInBt.png

Shockingly our Berserk survived this.

QncKq77.png

But none of our Adamants did (forgot to screenshot it). lightbane lives so all is well.

SUWZqe7.png

The toasters really like Helios Alpha. Probably because this is the birthplace of the frakkers.

Picon Fleet jumps to Gemenon to liberate the priests and the devout from unholy robots. Daidalos prepares to move towards Libran where our next story mission is.

Ru9jlap.png

Of course tindrli finds not one but two Cylon fleets at Cocalus. Luckily we just need to fight one this turn.

RxlvRSW.png

That looks like a lot of toasters.

rPlUMpg.png

Daidalos Fleet's only Manticore scouts it our, turns out this is a light ship fleet. Missiles are launched at the swift Cerastes while the torpedoes are aimed at the slower and more predictable Talons.

0YWcVuv.png

Well, that would be it as far as scouting goes.

Qz7f5AV.png

The toasters succumb to our firepower anyway.

pE5OR8y.png

Quick and brutal, just like tindrli likes it.

dPYsVzM.png

Picon Fleet sets its eyes on liberating Gemenon. We have a major tonnage advantage.

hOQocGL.png

More light ships, MercantileInterest has no more patience for such crap.

31pvHCa.png

Too easy.

6R2K6z0.png

tindrli gets a third Battlestar. For the time being, until it reinforced Aquaria Fleet or something, it will stay with him.

SPi8Wwp.png

The situation is good. Only the suitists of Libran are panicking for no reason. Alpha is very calm considering all the killer robot fleets blockading one colony or another.

C8s57vT.png

Gemenon had two toaster fleets around it, so after some repairs Picon Fleet went after the rest of the Cylons.

AeSpLfj.png

8 ships as usual.

PoxMHfE.png

Three gunbricks and some lights. Our Adamants get in very close, this is going to be brutal. Luckily we have torpedoes.

4t6N6k6.png

More toasters!

1isTN3l.png

As could be expected one Adamant could not stand the heat.

d9u71P2.png

Our only Ranger and another Adamant take slugs from the Cylon mass drivers. Luckily the last Revenant is already being targeted by our missiles and torpedoes.

gypYm6S.png

It looks like the area is clear.

0WFgcih.png

Picon Fleet saves the day yet again.

fK4BDNb.png

tindrli gets some new skills.

LGG67fl.png

MercantileInterest gets a worse skill.

5NFZKMh.png

lightbane also gets a new rank.

QzgSROQ.png

Another Artemis (probably the ship once knows as the Hussar) is finished and jumped to Picon Fleet. It takes on the name Codexia II.

LrYPzUZ.png

Gemenon Fleet is under attack. What will we do?

pIRdBeU.png

baud orders the fleet to burn tylium.

aNB7WUJ.png

A lot of tylium, but quite frankly it is still less than replacing the likely losses. Not all battles are worth fighting.

7MLei0v.png

For his cowardly retreat he gets a promotion.

CwcCtVB.png

And another one.

fWKBl2B.png

You can probably see why he got promoted. I needed more fleet points on him as the toasters field larger fleets now. We have RP to burn, with a promotion costing as much as the exp left to level up.

Zy4iTmA.png

Lots of jumping going on this turn. Picon Fleet will jump to Caprica and eliminate the toaster force that got baud scared.

Daidalos will take care of Libran's story mission. The smaller ships will reinforce Gemenon Fleet which now has room for them.

fwVpnEn.png

Remove toaster from premises.

z9ShSCB.png

At the moment they want to remove us with torpedoes. Ineffectively, which is lucky for us.

gTAwsQX.png

The Discovery however experience a near brush with death.

7PGhIbg.png

Well, not really a brush it seems.

1ef0VVu.png

Contacts!

aYYOWhc.png

Nothing too difficult.

HIG6ROV.png

The Codexia II destroys 4 ships and achieves 80% accuracy. :incline:

s8t2Koh.png

And now for Libran.

CHAPTER VIII - ARTICLES OF COLONIZATION

"Initially I thought the lawyers and bankers picked Libran for the location of their institutions because, like with Aquaria, it was too much of a hassle for the superpowers to occupy or fight over it because of the swamps, humid hot climate and swarms of insects. Later on I realized that the local mosquitoes might be related to those bankers and lawyers."

– Dimitrios Halakis, Tauron comedian living in exile on Picon. Excerpt from the last episode of "The nightly show with Dimitrios Halakis” prior to his murder by unknown parties.

1Vlfqkj.png

The Sagittaran puppets loyal to Caprica suggest the SDU will try to burn the articles of colonization, literary. Also apparently they want to get rid of Cain and other symbols of imperialism.

1dT84mq.png

Our job is to stop them from even smelling the damp insect-infested air of Libran. So essentially we are doing them a favour.

4Zg6W8f.png

wYmV2Mf.png

Yeah, so no SDU around. We can ambush them as we know where they will jump.

uxXbVQ0.png

g9ySDwX.png

The Space Burger removers are here. Our fleet should already be in position after some thruster boosting.

8X4Dibs.png

Of course they get a bit of a drop on us as they can fire missiles just after jumping in. Their fleet is nothing scary, rangers, adamants and manticores.

AnIxGlP.png

Uh oh.

5Mv2xOB.png

Surprise, we have toasters that talk! Took fucking long enough.

ARq1VJ7.png

So the toasters came to judge us and watch?

t6cQi3h.png

Well, they can judge how well we fire torpedoes.

A075qCy.png

The SDU drop like Libran flies.

KGRAjHe.png

Yeah, the toaster basestar jumped away. It did not attack us or anything.

2mJ94US.png

ho4n34h.png

Well this is over rather fast, very easy.

VoGmtdm.png

We can now unlock the Janus blueprint.

C3Hgbnp.png

This ship is outdated, which means it is less accurate. It has not 1, not 2 but 3 munitions slots. Which sounds very nice but the reload time on them is 4 turns which is the same as the Adamant I think, or worse.

At the moment these do not sound very appealing, but there is one thing that will make them useful later on.

Q1hd3CB.png

This missile trades hull damage for double plating damage. I am not sure if this is that useful.

YG0hrSO.png

The Janus is more expensive than a minotaur but less than a ranger. I rather have rangers as missile support.

Wt7LtTl.png

Great, we have not one but two BA missions available! And no main campaign mission. Eh, I was hoping I would rush to the next main story mission with Daidalos still in this update but it seems that is unlikely.

At least one of the BA mission is also in Gamma. For the time being Daidalos will recharge FTL and new ships will be sent to Aquaria Fleet.
hWfbqKc.png

The toasters hate baud they probably think he is infringing on their resurrection tech intellectual property. Gemenon Fleet is a bit outgunned but we will fight.

ciFqDkp.png

58NF4qI.png

Oh this is fun. We have only two viper squadrons, so the toasters will have space superiority. However we have a lot of firepower on our capital ships.

fuG7DA6.png

The toasters send raiders and torpedoes after baud.

StOAF69.png

We quickly lose all our vipers but this does not matter. You see we had the minotaurs firing their guns at the Cylon strikecrafts so they should be mostly dead.

cqmGVpK.png

The toasters have deployed a phobos! Also two Arachnes. This will be fun.

Egj6N8l.png

baud lost one of his 2 rangers. There are still raiders flying around. It seems the phobos is by default loaded with mines, which is good, torpedoes would be a problem.

fen4xT6.png

This battle turns into an up-close melee. Both Arachnes are down and the Phobos is about to go down as well. One of our minotaurs is acting as a bullet sponge. With the arachnes out of the picture only the Cerasteses and the strikecraft will be a problem. Those light ships we will shoot down fast however.

oWJzIbu.png

Turns out they have another phobos. We have two minotaurs and one artemis pounding the toasters so they should go down fast. Assuming the two phoboses do not cripple our fire control.

vMmekAY.png

One of the phoboses did a tactical FTL jump and is now on behind us, still hacking us.

5h2qmmR.png

It did not do them any good, the toasters should have loaded torpedoes instead of mines. The loss of the ranger hurts but we still have one more in Gemenon Fleet.

5cetzHd.png

baud earned a promotion with that battle.

QFV7piT.png

Jumping to the first of the two BA mission markers. There are some toasters at Sagittaron which we will need to clear out first.

VKfGxxZ.png

Let's get rid of them.

g2fbars.png

Two nemeses and six other ships. We have a lot of firepower here so this should not be a problem.

t2JFpAc.png

The toasters target one of our Artemis class ships with a torpedo salvo. Guided missiles are also on the way.

Qg40JXz.png

After eliminating a Nemesis we have ID'd two revenants. Time to get rid of the gunbricks.

OcgNhn5.png

The battlestar Luna seems to have absorbed must of the Cylon gunfire. They also targeted one of the adamants. Our viper swarm and missiles disposed of the Revenants too fast for them to finish the job.

HQcssz0.png

One less toaster fleet to worry about.

C55zMr5.png

Of course we need to repair the fleet first, tindrli will engage the mission marker next turn.

nJtrdmg.png

Well that turn was uneventful, time for the mission.

BROKEN ALLIANCE 5 - BLOCKADE

WWnVsVF.png

BkyLP5H.png

Great, apparently we are delegate to border patrol duty now. Don't we have MURDEROUS FRAKING ROBOTS TO WORRY ABOUT?

Apparently we get the Minerva Class blueprints for this. That might be useful. Also we need raptors so we will need to board something it seems.

kl6kNpn.png

Very simple, we have to fly along the boarder. No contacts yet.

2kECJUc.png

And DRADIS shows new contacts. What are the odds we might need to blow them up?

RgJ327k.png

BeFMyel.png

High apparently. Why is this guy still alive anyway?

bRk5rxx.png

I don't get Thoon's point.

27MPI3e.png

In any case some more ships jumped and they escort a freighter. Lots of ships to escort one freighter. At the moment they are not hostile, I wonder how long that will last. I move the big guns into position.

b1Tu1cn.png

Oh great, Canceran shell corporations. I wonder who on Canceron could be the actual owner of this shell entity...

SK4SDMF.png

So apparently either we let Thoon take in the cargo and break the embargo, which will make the quorum angry for some reason or we blow up the new SDU ships and also make the quorum angry.

mQSgLK9.png

Luckily this dilemma is solve by yet another twist.

MO3Jyrq.png

Apparently Cottle got bored off Sagittaron and some local globalist radicals helped him hijack a battlestar. How the hell did Cain not airlock this guy already, he just keeps making things worse for us! Plus he makes friends with suspicious elements, first smugglers next radicals.

4nKi8gG.png

Lock and load, let's blow up more SDU shit.

SH860hk.png

So the shit Cottle stole is a Minerva class Battlestar. This is a new ship added in this expansion pack, it sacrifices armor for damage output. You can already see it has not one but two ordnance slots (unfortunately with a mine it seems). Like all battlestars, this ship carries two squadrons of strikecraft. It has slightly less plating and probably hull as well than an Artemis.

7d5x9Qi.png

On the "in your face" front, Daidalos Fleet is busy engaging the SDU at very close ranges. Both sides fire missiles.

zC4feKg.png

The Minerva is chased by two or three lighter SDU ships. I forgot it had fighters, lets launch them and kill the SDU pursuers.
Some torpedoes or missiles were also fired at the pursuing craft by the rest of our fleet, so hopefully Cottle should live another day to piss off Fleet Command with his blatant insubordination...

mPQRstq.png

A Minerva is on a collision course with Bog Otac!

grd5vBA.png

Luckily it managed to dodge. Popping these SDU moles was very simple.

KPa8chv.png

Sinnon wants to blame Wenutu for this.

wOP1g9V.png

Cottle agrees. Helena is sceptical. I wonder where this plotline will lead. Probably to Canceron eventually.

FXuv0Fw.png

Let's take a look at the minerva.

ddgsE7V.png

It has worse flaks, less armor and apparently worse evade for its strikecraft. But it has guns and two ordnance slots plus higher gun range.

7MSjDIr.png

I am not certain if it is worth dumping tylium into it. 900 tylium is a lot to lose and we are more likely to lose it than an Artemis due to the lighter plating. Nevertheless lets get one or two and see how they work.

d1kzX5x.png

Bah, no main story mission yet. At least Cylon presence is low. Guess we are jumping to Beta to do that other BA mission. We have two interstellar waypoints between there and Gamma.

5Dey9Ay.png

While we wait for FTL to recharge the toasters strike at Daidalos fleet. These guys have a deathwish.

BBLYSLs.png

Whatever they are we should have space superiority so vipers are sent first both to scout out the Cylon ships and to start filling them full of holes.

DUq0e9p.png

Of course they have some gunbricks supported by talons so we lose one Adamant due to all the gunfire. But not before something chrome gets blown up.

D4xG42c.png

Another Adamant is now taking internal damage, however at this point our wall of fire decimated the Cylon fleet.

UlZ3fAT.png

Just a couple more torpedo hits and gun fire...

fogjgFX.png

...and we're done. Very easy. Forgot to screenshot the post-battle screen.

mOx4HpJ.png

Construction on a Janus and an Artemis begins. Probably these will be used to build up Aquaria Fleet.

ahWyquV.png

Toasters start gathering in Beta making Leonis Fleet uncomfortable. New ships are sent to Aquaria Fleet.

egFi2Fh.png

A minor Cylon Fleet attacks baud at Gemenon. That should not be too difficult.

The best battle goes to Gemenon Fleet under baud fighting against those Arachnes and Phoboses while being outnumbered in fighters.

The situation seems to be under control for now. No battlestar losses or officer deaths this time. Hopefully I will not have to slog through too many skirmishes until the next BA mission and the next story mission. The toasters currently seem to prefer Revenants and other medium/heavy ships are rare, hopefully this will change soon.

Episode 8: Weapons from a more civilized age.

Previously on Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock...

Saggitarans tried to remove worst colonial from premises, they utterly failed.

Toasters invented voice synthesisers, start lecturing us over the wireless.

Doc Cottle stole a battlestar from Sagittaron. Somehow he avoids getting court-martialled. Possibly because it resulted in Colonial Fleet obtaining the blueprints for that new Battlestar type.

Our officers kick toaster ass, the Cylons have not managed to kill any of them recently, but things could get ugly as they start fielding Revenants and Arachnes regularly.

Some music, no flashforward this time, too lazy to do those and there are no good shots you would not see already, maybe in another update.

TN9QFHu.png

baud prepares to liberate Gemenon.

7tMLkSR.png

The engagement begins with a customary firing of missiles by both sides.

MzLZBmT.png

These toasters did not put up much of a fight.

xFv6TU2.png

Easy exp, low repair bill.

KWyONlr.png

A turn (or more) later and the Daidalos starts jumping to Beta for the BA mission. tindrli encounters our chrome nemesis there.

Rqm5FCY.png

The toaster fleet is heavily armoured, charging Colonial Fleet with 3 gunbricks and some nemesis support.

bEJpOpN.png

Of course our Adamant quickly takes too many hits.

K5HluVc.png

It managed to retreat, however our Ranger crew might be toaster-sympathisers since they just fired torpedoes at our own ships.

E8qPCPQ.png

Thanks to his tactical genius tindrli manages to destroy the 3 Revenants while avoiding ship losses on our side. Now it is just a
question of mopping up toasters.

6LnRfnj.png

Not that far from Rank 10, justa few more exp.

L7dO6nR.png

No rest for the Gemenon Fleet. Toaster try to piss of the priests of Gemenon, baud and his warships are stannding in their way.

Mt9KdDa.png

Proving that they are learning machines the toasters focus our Ranger with torpedoes, it hurts.

jpAw6ol.png

The Ranger is badly damaged, the toaster fleet meanwhile seems to be rather light.

VycbFOm.png

:salute: Ranger down bros. Before going down it managed to score a direct hit with a torp salvo on the Talon.

uNaKSp9.png

Just as it explodes a new toaster ship jumps next to it!

5UzIQaw.png

Our fighters are dead, luckily for us the toasters fly straight for our flak guns.

CtnNFoA.png

The contact that jumped in? Its that fucking revenant, jumped right behind our asses! Frak!

Pgorp6V.png

It's on a collision course!

:rage:

Y89cbFi.png

Collision avoided, just barely...

Jde7bfa.png

Not sure if the right side damage on this Artemis is from ramming or from the Revenants guns.

GVwgHMB.png

Oh and we lost a minotaur. Not as bad as losing an Artemis, but also not desirable.

ykq29EB.png

That gunbrick goes down, the remaining toasters are light ships that are scattered all around.

MZWL7oh.png

Popping moles.

rA9rxOs.png

Attrition is getting to our other minotaur.

bXOlrys.png

And we won, looks like Baud II will get promoted.

pJoTmq9.png

Yes he does and now he can command 7k point fleet, a great day for the 12 Colonies.

V2By4cn.png

Meanwhile MercantileInterest will jump his Picon Fleet and liberate the dirteaters.

YLQurzH.png

Oh and I think something jumped to Libran as well.

DYspFGR.png

The Manticore is sent out to ID the toasters, it comes back full of mass driver slugs.

IIQ8PYl.png

Very full of them. RIP.

v15UzFl.png

Apart from that the Cylon fleet is a pushover.

9IEPQoj.png

lightbane is one such battle away from a promotion.

BssclMo.png

The Cylon force at Tauron is a 1800 point joke.

MbnPEnC.png

These can only be nemeses.

dOiouVH.png

So naturally we go all-in with our vipers.

qsKfbk9.png

MercantileInterest scores an easy win for the humans.

q7bWDgr.png

Luka-boy gets a fast promotion.

UFfJvDu.png

So he can hopefully be useful in our struggle against killer robots.

qIpvrZC.png

New ship construction starts in the drydocks.

XypQ1tM.png

Luka-boy will command a new fleet which we need to assemble. He takes the remnants abandoned when the new Aquaria fleet was formed out of the old Aquaria and Scorpia fleets, these will be joined by some heavy ships that just finished building.

e9hrjJP.png

Of course over 5k worth of toasters jumps to the their rendezvous point before they group up.

:rage:

EqeSu0y.png

The Janus is used as a distraction and jumps away before things get hot, this should buy us some time.

IEAbbrO.png

Tauron is attacked by a rather big cylon force.

L3xVyIH.png

These toasters mean business.

OFXU5vl.png

Missile fire seems to be targeted at one particular ship.

MEFyLsW.png

An Artemis prepares to move in with Flak cover to shield the targeted adamant, will it work? Depends how fast those missiles are.

UnBRLFL.png

Well, some did get shot down but most hit the Adamant.

CKkByjX.png

Ouch.

EEiR7bD.png

As you can see the Cylons deployed 3 Arachnes, which explains the missile spam.

UKLijzn.png

Actually 4 arachnes and a revenant. This is not very good. Luckily we have ordnance of our own.

vCgIKMM.png

:salute:

5vmsMTN.png

Vipers try to take out those Arachnes.

Zo6kSph.png

Another Adamant takes hits, however the toasters suffer heavier losses.

udPdygy.png

And another one down.

99Tdn01.png

Three down on the same turn.

mg5Ndfc.png

Oh wait, one was our Adamant. The renaming Arachne is nearly scrap.

v71Mad7.png

Picon Fleet needs new mass driver fodder.

2c0sthA.png

Those toasters are still lurking for Luka-boy in Delta.

yi83rMa.png

Daidalos Fleet rushes a jump.

XMo8c6n.png

We want to get to that mission marker ASAP.

Q1igaoN.png

We barely managed to group up the ships at Aquaria and the task force was not even renamed when the Cylons strike.

uhl101E.png

Luka-boy commands three battlestars, two Artemises and one Minerva, our first Minerva. While the Cylons have slightly more fleet points, my hope is the fleet is light and we simply pick them off one by one with superior fire power. If not, we jump and run trying to save our expensive ships.

Z3TmCLs.png

Lots of ships, probably lights.

jWwFFpU.png

Two Revenants, gotta kill them fast.

Yi6Kzsm.png

Actually it turns out they have more, time to jump!

uUxZvGT.png

nF3Auyj.png

Considering the damage on our battlestars, this was a good choice. We still got some toaster ships so we can repair and kill them off later.

pdcTkyk.png

We ran out of tylium to save one Artemis, it manages to finish off some toaster ship.

SqGqRiD.png

In hindsight maybe if I didn't jump those other ships maybe we could finish the whole toaster fleet with the same losses. The minerva can fire two missile salvos after all and it has good guns.

kLx1Ra3.png

Failed? Perhaps, but Luka-boy survived.

wVVCMpq.png

Daidalos is under attack.

HBckayN.png

Looks like another joke fleet, why couldn't it jump to Aquaria?

kahDw5X.png

tindrli has no patience for such popamole adversaries.

9EMbiU4.png

Ok, now back to more pressing business.

qfxwPUy.png

Luka-boy renames the Minerva to something more fitting of his strong naval personality.

642ZD5q.png

Meanwhile in Alpha, despite all the toaster killing more Cylons keep coming there. This time there is a nearly 8k point fleet handing around. Shit looks terrifying.

9F77KIm.png

In order to make Luka-boy more likely to survive against increasing Cylon forces, he gets a quick promotion burning through our RP reserves.

8DC4LPO.png

gYOsB9h.png

Picon Fleet will get some reinforcements in the form of a Minotaur, Leonis Fleet will go defend Leonis.

SVcyaAx.png

neKJdMH.png

Onboard the Anubis we have Bravely, time to remove toasters.

0LR8wiu.png

Our fleet is small but heavy, two Artemises supported by a Ranger and an Adamant.

1X5zsAZ.png

The toaster strikecraft composition seems to focus on wardrivers, so we need to have our vipers shoot them down before we fire any guided missiles. Those jamming fields are obnoxious.

IRNGle2.png

Missiles fly towards our Artemis, flaks are fired in response.

Faevcw7.png

Besides missiles the toasters also send 2 Heavy Raider wings at us, eager to board something.

WijqvS3.png

Lots of centurions aboard, without switching to defensive posture we will lose the ship.

gOODAOw.png

The toaster force is overall another light fleet, so if we get rid off the boarders it should go down easily. We have 5 viper squadrons while they had mostly support strikecraft so fighter space superiority will be ours.

h8OCplc.png

Going on the defensive helped, the toaster boarders are getting crushed by our marines.

tF9CnvK.png

The Anubis seems to be mostly safe now, only it is also getting hacked.

oYEcxAW.png

We can go full offside again with our flagship, Bravely is at no risk of getting shot by the chrome domes in his own CIC.

c3znSzJ.png

Easy.

ECOrp52.png

This close to a new level...

c2NwaIl.png

More fodder is ordered at Daidalos.

VJ58ihk.png

Alpha turns into an appliance megastore once again, toasters everywhere.

Reinforcements are dispatched.

nRCOqla.png

Saggitarron and Aquaria are on our liberation agenda this turn.

DddiluO.png

Four battles this run.

Q1fVCeP.png

lightbane is up first for toaster disposal.

ymMEow9.png

These toasters are fairly well armed.

j6DtuBa.png

Too well armed for our Minotaur.

kncfTuJ.png

Its out of armour.

jyb1bAp.png

But not out of firepower :smug:

Unfortunately they hack the firing control of our Ranger! :rage:

Vye7kKL.png

Another victory over the mechanical menace.

tU9h3Qx.png

Scorpia Fleet v2 is ready to scrap the toasters.

Pr2Rz6F.png

Luka-boy commands a small fleet of three heavy ships and one Manticore. This will also be our first proper battle with a Janus deployed.

7ZwXmRV.png

Commanding from the Parrot, Luka-boy orders his ships to strike!

xz6xk4z.png

The manticore is sent in full defensive posture towards the Cylons. Defensive posture boosts DRADIS range and the Manticore has the highest base DRADIS range out of Colonial ships.

YjPJNJ2.png

Our Janus is loaded with torpedoes. It may fire once every four turns but 3 salvos of torpedoes is terrifying to anything in this game...

6WQLqm1.png

...unless they miss the target. I wonder if this is what was meant by outdated firing controls.

:rage:

EHOqvgY.png

At the very least they have no Raiders so we can go in all aggressive with out four wings of vipers.

HudBOGd.png

Our Artemis eats a lot of torpedoes and slugs.

iw4gvfv.png

But our Janus finally makes them pay. Eat shit and die toaster!

39TGBIV.png

Insta-gibbed it.

sgktL0q.png

Our Janus is acting as a damage sponge. Also as a hacking sponge.

Gc169FZ.png

The damage and hax are piling up.

QSbmHFH.png

The toaster heavy ships are down, so the mop up phase begins now.

gxq1ICx.png

So close to a level-up. Our Minerva dealt over 400 damage with cannons, 165 with vipers and 89 with missiles. Its accuracy was an impressive 89 percent.

wED3nfR.png

The Artemis dealt two times less. Accuracy is only 20 percentage points lower.

TuMhRKd.png

The Janus did hardly impress in this area, but its armour is great.

htV9U2x.png

Manticores are not damage dealers obviously.

7Hr8RIC.png

Picon Fleet is up now, the dirteaters will be toaster free soon.

HUxjsPa.png

It opens the fight by torpedoing a Cylon Revenant.

N0NhF1j.png

Flaks aimed...

vYLjzCb.png

...and firing.

ZSO6gQM.png

A Nemesis charges at our Ranger, the damage is quite noticable.

b93W1PG.png

That doesn't stop our fleet from stomping the other toasters.

bX1BBbP.png

That Ranger received a lot of damage but it survived.

8Reg5pL.png

Lastly tindrli is up for toaster stomping.

KlF9T5h.png

The toaster are many and supposedly they have a plan.

HmfvVOT.png

What they definitely do not have are enough Raiders to be a threat to our strikecraft.

tev1TRN.png

But they have Scorpions, so far these do not impress me, we'll just swarm them with vipers.

KiAoRDw.png

The toasters are supposed to be the missile and fighter spamming side...

gt0UTcb.png

This Cylon light fleet is not enough to challenge us.

K9rWAM2.png

And it is down.

kT5bhko.png

tindrli has reached the maximum level.

57saOTC.png

The doomstack is laying siege to Picon. Another one is hiding somewhere in interstellar space.

Our priority however is the BA mission at Hera.

l4jwRwN.png

BROKEN ALLIANCE 6 - HERA

9Cyah3r.png

Is Cain sucking off Royalty now?

ifvteEK.png

*sigh* this is what you get when you jump on the cloud bandwagon.... How is a space station safer for data storage than a bunker deep underground in bumfrak nowhere on Virgon?

Maybe we will learn some state secrets after this.

8LdE8Si.png

We need to protect this tiny ship, probably our best bet is to murder the toasters first and dock later.

L9PqVKd.png

Bleeding-heart Cottle is getting chummy with royalty.

5KbU5sv.png

The toasters are scatter all around the place. The fleet is split into two battlegroups to mop them up faster. One goes "to the left", the other "to the right" near the station.

TWkAdhP.png

I smell Arachnes.

1rjHJGz.png

Yes, quite a few of them indeed. The force sent to the station is one Artemis and 2 Adamants, it should be enough. Fighter groups have also been split 50/50.

KQzZGOw.png

There's a gunbrick nearby as well. Meanwhile for some reason I have no screenshots of what happened to the left group, it found 2 Arachnes and some popamole Nemesis.

lPEwfKl.png

The opposition is crushed.

Ll6oLge.png

Time to start flying to the facility with the Virgon tech team. It flies there, docks and gets the da...

UjgvZFt.png

...explodes?

3kZs7Nj.png

Its nucular!

lhAbqkG.png

What a twist! So the prince didn't care about the men as Cottle thought, he cared that the nuke gets in place and blows it up. But why nuke the facility and break the ban on nukes like that?

OHEcd1V.png

4N9W0UW.png

Cottle is butthurt now :smug:

UBitKbG.png

And the prince angle in all of this is...

nnOh7Nj.png

...to blame this nuking on the toasters. Pretty clever. Also you will very soon see that this DLC is very likely filled with cut content that originally was supposed to be in the campaign but axed possibly due to deadlines/time pressure, the prime evidence being clear in the next mission.

pXsOXVt.png

Boo fucking hoo Cottle.

bASWI1M.png

Prince Stefan doesn't frak around. He does have a point, but nobody really knows what the Cylons want or why.

Va0nNCj.png

We get a new minotaur and the toasters dicking around in Alpha.

V7rSKRD.png

tindrli gets his final and last possible promotion.

s49UDZS.png

lightbane becomes more useful as well.

DPhnGZk.png

Bravely sucks a cock or two to get a bit closer to promotion.

vq0K7SM.png

Considering his new skill of "Analyst" it might have been taking a cock or two in the ass.

Cdt3dEM.png

Luka-boy jumps on the sodomy for promotion bandwagon.

BNP9TGh.png

Well worth the rectal damage.

lJLj5nM.png

As the Minerva seems to be quite useful I order another one. We also get another Janus and an Adamant for cannon fodder.

93fx7hr.png

Gemenon Fleet is guarding Gemenon, baud will let no chromebot pass.

RxkQHDQ.png

His current fleet might best be described as a pile of guns floating in space. Crude but hopefully effective.

mWxldSl.png

His flagship takes some internal damage.

KgCugqL.png

But the brute force of more daka is effective.

ngtTnO7.png

On the next turn after that vuictory Gemenon Fleet jumped to Knossos to reinforce itself with new ships, toasters happened.

dyk22sn.png

Joke force of 1800 points.

PshQYsp.png

Four light ships are about to be scrapped.

Ag1kl1O.png

Free exp.

5piNWOD.png

Now lets move on to more interesting things. I wonder how much longer before the toasters start fielding their final three ships.

ZQnRxoT.png

Meanwhile a non-joke Cylon Fleet is enaging our new ships, which I wanted to merge with Gemenon fleet.

PL2RUzT.png

Of course I jumped them away, now Gemenon Fleet needs to jump after them to Icarus in Alpha.

9woGZAB.png

Our new Minerva is ready as our other ships, I order some mediums and another adamant filler.

RyX9hT4.png

Azira II joins the fleet. He will need to advance his career quickly to be useful.

4eaj5gn.png

Don't ask what he had to do for this promotion, I am pretty sure HHR would get a heart attack if he knew.

oKmpOpv.png

And with those extra fleet points he will command...

ngc95RW.png

...The Unsinkable III, our second Minerva class Battlestar. Not that being unsinkable matters in space nor did it help the last battlestar someone named Azira commanded. Especially not when considering the Minerva is a glass cannon.

ChF3d8s.png

Check out those doomstacks in Alpha, we have 3 of those there and one floating around in Beta. Overall somehow there's a shitload of toasters around now.

GCZ6ig0.png

Daidalos doesn't give a frak, its heading to the next main campaign mission. Meanwhile the new ships will reinforce Beta and Scorpia Fleet in Delta.

And the mission is about....

wLQBbEo.png

..you will learn much later as I still needed to do some other stuff before the end turn button was hit. More ships.

K9Q3J74.png

Oh great, and we get three battles.

GNuAbDX.png

Gemenon fleet now believes in more dakka, its a new cult now on Gemenon.

4yehsdg.png

This will help it get more followers.

2iGFWhv.png

The doomstack wants to murder Leonis Fleet. Spool up the FTL drives and get us the frak out of here.

Ch7b0Gl.png

Time for the mission.

CHAPTER IX - PERMISSIVE ACTION LINK

2t7zPNh.png

"The propaganda video that appeared spontaneously in Mesh and V-World services across the colonies, narrated by what is clearly a Cylon voice modulator, stated that the Colonies need to disarm and stop hostilities with the Cylon or face consequences. It displayed footage of what appears to be the destruction of a Virgon data facility around Hera in Helios Beta, with an explosive force that analysts confirm could only be caused by a thermonuclear warhead, the first such explosion in over 30 years since these weapons were banned by the Colonies. This blunt demonstration of force and technological advancement by the Cylons has caused the Quorum to gather in a special emergency session. Inside sources claim Admiral Lucinda Cain is also present. Meanwhile panic continues to spread across the colonies, with rice stockpiles completely sold out, despite public announcement urging the population to remain calm." - "Caprica News" reporting on the Cylon nuclear test video.

8W03SwV.png

...Helena playing dumb. None of the conversations were changed for the expansion, which did change the context of this mission. I have to say the previous mission was a bit of a shock, but it also filled in some holes which you will see in a moment. Also this is that other case of lacking storytelling I talked about. Shit hits the fan and Helena only tells you it did, so much lost potential.

qg4lo2b.png

In any case Cain has the quorum by the balls thanks to Prince Stefan. Approval was given for nuclear re-armament and Virgon conveniently happened to have some nuclear material the fleet can turn into bombs, that they forgot to dispose of, ready for transport to Aquaria (which the BA mission just explained, although originally this was not that suspicious).

If we win this, we get nukes and the Atlas. More on both later.

ODuKTUX.png

The Cylons want to blockade the colonial transports filled with tasty nuclear materials (hi Echelon/PRISM).

69o20lq.png

Yes Helena, what else is new? They invented the wheel you say?

MnLqn9K.png

We have two transports we need to protect.

eNzK2Eb.png

The are the slow as frak pieces of shit that we failed to protect in that optional mission at Gemenon. So we need to move in fast and blow up toasters fast before they intercept them.

NYjTDcs.png

We're getting mic-spammed by the toaster again.

YA0LxSS.png

Either the toaster is sarcastic or the writer was really in a rut.

AaqKxMi.png

The bricks are charging in our direction.

gXWWzx0.png

You can see that there is a Nemesis already in range of one of the freighters and an Arachne not far behind. These frakers mean business. I did divert strikecraft to deal with them and they still got quite far.

h4MInYz.png

Do you see how little hull is left on one of those freighters? At least the Revenant is going down.

YMTYQUb.png

The Luna does its best to soak damage but its out of armour.

BncPYyo.png

At this point the Nemesis and cylon fighters were down, our freighter only took one more hit from the toasters so its down to 4 hull points. But the remaining toasters are far and facing our broadsides, which makes tindrli happy. He wants those nukes.

OUEzUPo.png

Bah, the nemesis haxed the nav system on this brick, no wonder it got hit so badly.

0B5EHxO.png

Meanwhile shit gets intense as both sides exchange torpedo fire.

cF3WofB.png

The Luna is not in a good shape.

lIasPQJ.png

RIP :salute: another Artemis down.

gesES7a.png

But that toaster ship also got blown up so it is ok. Also tindrli has Daidalos so it is easiest to reinforce his fleet.

SLxiwJt.png

3nChmuq.png

This exchange was also not changed, which is why I am inclined to believe they cut some of the BA missions from the main campaign. Or they plugged a plot hole, it was very confusing why Clothos claimed the colonials insist on nuclear warfare.

Well Prince Stefan's plan really will help humanity win against the Cylons....

caprica-attack.jpg

...oh.

qEl7Ck8.png

The Luna was lost but rear admiral tindrli doesn't give a frak, he wants new bigger weapons to blow up the Cylons.

epIa8Vg.png

Speaking of new weapons...

4V59AwX.png

...the Atlas class Carrier is commonly know as His Majesty's Royal Brick. It can host two squadrons of strikecraft and nothing else but some minor guns. Ok, it got some bottom side guns in the last patch. Its the last of the mid-range specialist ships the Colonials get, with ranger being the missile boat and the minotaur being the gunship. Personally I was never convinced much by these ships, but maybe the recent buff makes them useful.

If we stick these together with only Artemises and Januses also in a fleet we can LARP an Imperial Wars navy of vintage capital ships.

At this point there is just one capital ship class we cannot unlock or build. It is of course the Jupiter class Battlestar.

0AN46wE.png

And here is our most desired new acquisition, the cause of mankind's demise forty years down the road (thanks Stefan!), the nuclear warhead-armed missile a.k.a. the nuke.

The nuke acts as a nuke (duh), as in it delivers a ton of damage instantly. Smaller ships get blown up, bigger ships lose all plating and suffer hull damage in one hit. It has three major disadvantages, it costs a lot to re-arm (but the Daidalos can arm/re-arm for free), it is painfully slow and it can fire only once per munitions slot. That last one is a real kick in the balls and its main weakness.

On a missile boat like the Ranger it is a waste to load it with nukes. Because it fires two nukes and does nothing for the whole battle, torpedoes and missile are just better considering its reload times on ordnance.

But on a ship with very long reload times, that relies mostly on its guns or fighters for damage it might be better. And on a ship that has three munitions slots and mostly acts as an inaccurate damage sponge, it might also be good. The cheesy way to stomp the toasters all the way to the final mission would be a fleet full of Januses armed with Nukes flying around with Daidalos, abusing free reloads and the fact the toasters do not intercept missiles with fighters (but maybe scorpions can do that for them). But that would be boring.

tmsdf2z.png

Musing on nuclear space warfare aside, we have a lot of toasters to deal with with two doomstacks in gamma where the next BA mission is (ugh, more waiting for FTL spooling on Daidalos Fleet).

4QHCzyN.png

baud gets a new name for his flagship. Despite the toaster swarm we have a full quorum, nukes and a lot of fleets here and there. Also just two BA missions left, I wonder where that plot will go. I doubt it will top the last BA mission's twist. We're slowly approaching the end of the game.

The best battle goes to the BA mission at Hera, not much to show despite having had so many of them in this update. In the next update we should have some nuking going on and possibly Cylon endgame ships, so it will be more to show.
