Oh and if you squint your eyes and turn your head a little bit to the left while standing on your head, you can see Snow that is the most obvious and blatant pedophile in games history. I mean... Serah is almost three heads smaller than him, has the body of a twelve year old girl and the mindset and behaviour of a fourteen year old. No wonder Lightning hates him.

You really don't understand japanese people.:hmmm:

Well, it’s been a long time coming, but I think I’m gonna call it: Final Fantasy is dead.
It’s hard to pinpoint an exact time of death on this one, but at some point during the last decade the world’s foremost Japanese role-playing game series keeled over and kicked the bucket, and now Square Enix is pretty much just defiling the corpse. Here’s an excerpt from a question-and-answer session on July 27 with Nobuhiro Goto and Motomu Toriyama, developers of the next game in the series, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
Q: Has [main character] Lightning gone from a C cup to a D cup?
Goto: Well, Toriyama-san said he wanted them bigger, so…
Toriyama: Hey, don’t try to escape responsibility for this!
Goto: Yes, we made them bigger.
Q. Was it a C cup, up until now? Are her breasts going to jiggle, this time?
Goto: Yes!
Toriyama: It depends on the clothing. Like if she’s wearing corrective underwear.
Dengeki Online’s report of the event noted further that since players can choose Lightning’s costume and weaponry, they can ensuretheir preferred amount and duration of boob jiggling through judicious equipment selection. If you want to get a better view of all those mammarial undulations, one developer noted, just have her hold a smaller shield!
Hey, I’m the last person who’s going to tell people what kinds of videogames they should and should not make. I like Leisure Suit Larry, and that game is 95 percent jokes about and/or pictures of breasts. There is room to create and play a whole wide variety of things. But if in 2013 this is what a Q&A session about Final Fantasy has become, then any claim that the series once had something approaching mainstream respectability done gone and caught the train out of town.
In its heyday, Final Fantasy was the ne plus ultra of console videogames based around strong, relatable characters and epic storylines. Sure, the games had their moments of levity, but mostly took themselves seriously enough to attempt to tackle subtle, complex themes on platforms that were largely dominated by paper-thin plots and cartoon characters. They pushed the boundaries, if imperfectly; despite what I may have believed in high school the writing was not exactly Shakespeare. But the ideas of orchestras playing the games’ amazing musical scores or of art galleries displaying the design work of Yoshitaka Amano were not out of the question. And surely today’s game designers, the people making games like BioShock Infinite or The Last of Us, were inspired in part by early Final Fantasy.
What inspiration, if any, will breast-jiggling simulator Lightning Returns pass down to a new generation of game creators? Somewhere along the line, Final Fantasy lost the plot. Original creator Hironobu Sakaguchi is long gone, and if he attempted to pass the torch to a new generation they dropped it, let it go out in the dirt and kept running anyway. The 2001 game Final Fantasy X wasn’t that bad, but the next game after that, the awkwardly-named Final Fantasy X-2, decided that what the series needed was to take all the female player characters, give them skimpier outfits and make them into J-pop stars.
And it was pretty much all downhill from there. The Final Fantasy hydra has many heads, and it’s not just the console games that are continuing the legacy of the series. But everywhere you look, it’s bad news. The original version of the Final Fantasy XIV massively multiplayer online game was so poorly received by fans that Square Enix shut it down and rebuilt it from the ground up, at what had to be an exorbitant expense. And once the new version comes out, even if it’s good, it’s still going to be an MMO with a monthly fee in an era dominated by the free-to-play model. On mobile platforms we’re getting games like Final Fantasy: All the Bravest, critically excoriated as a naked gameplay-free cash grab.
Cash cows don’t last forever. The declining sales of Final Fantasy games, following the utter mess that was Final Fantasy XIII, should indicate that. At this point, it’s tough to see a path back to relevance for Final Fantasy, if the caretakers of the series are spending their creative cycles thinking about the particulars of breast physics. That’s not why the Final Fantasy brand still carries the cachet that it does, and the modern games are at this point living entirely off an inherited reputation.
You had a good run, Final Fantasy, and it was nice knowin’ ya.
Gotta love that this game has become a shameless dress up your waifu and watch her tits jiggle game. Squeenix can't collapse fast enough.

What a retarded article.

The things that make RPGs feel so different from other games — the sense of a grand, nonlinear adventure and the rising and falling action of an open-ended world — are gone.
Final Fantasy XIII isn’t an RPG; it’s something less.

Final Fantasy has never really had any of those things. About the only time I really remember a FF being nonlinear was during the World of Ruin part of FF6.

U r wrong! Skyrim is a RPG, Skyrim is open-world. Thus all RPGs are open world, and Final Fantasy should be open world!!!!111

Ha, that's actually what I figured his thought process was upon reading that.
"I like Skyrim. Skyrim is RPG. Every RPG should be Skyrim!"

Or worse, the guy actually thinks previous Final Fantasies (Fantasys?) were nonlinear and 'open-ended world' because they had world maps and you could occasionally back track to previously visited locations (though 98% of the time doing so was pointless).

I'll take even the illusion of a multi-directional world over series of hallways connected by cutscenes.

So you'll like Lightning Returns, Final Fantasy' first open-world game (at least in theory).

I like whatever kind of world structure 12 had, minus the loading between sub areas. Open world where you can go anywhere right off the bat is overrated. Even a world map like pre 10 FF would do me just fine. But the whole FFXIII thing doesn't work for me at all. Don't know why Lightning gets good will as a character. She's paper thin and boring 90lb. tough girl b.s.. The combat will have to be really fun for me to get into LR.

The only time I can remember any FF game having vague non-linear parts was in FF2 where if you decided to go south to the mountains instead of north towards the castle big ass monsters that massively outclassed you tore you to shreds.

I'm still hoping that FF games are on a 6-game cycle. Every 6th game is really good (ff6/ff12), #4s are the next best (4/10), #5s are only notable for the class system, #2s are the absolute worst, etc.

So we might get another good FF around 16 and then 18. Though it all depends on how you classify the various sequels and MMOs.

Regardless, talking about breasts is hardly what I would take to signal the downfall of the series. I can guarantee you that just about every female character has been designed by someone who took time to think about exactly what size beasts to give them. All we see here is an interviewer asking a question and the devs being honest in their answer. If you want to say that FF games are shit then trying to play the misogyny card just makes you look stupid.

Well, legend says that one of the great bonuses of their new engine is that ports are very easy to do, so we might even get PC ports of the next generation of FFs...

FF1 was somewhat nonlinear. Once you got the boat you could visit several ports out of order and once you got the airship you could do whatever you wanted in whatever order you wished.

Every FF starts linear but at some point you get an airship and the map opens up. Fuck some of them even have submarines.

For me the biggest problem with the latest batch of Final Fantasy games is that they are trying very hard to not be JRPG's or JPRG lite. I honestly think they should just go back to basics and either do an ATB or even better a turn based battle system. A less dumbed down character development system would be awesome as well.

I think FFX was pretty awful and that's where the series turned completely to shit, but I only played it for 6 or 7 hours. Wanted to give it a chance.

I'd love to see a Tactics 2 or something. They have so many classes and abilities that they could create such a good class system for turn based combat. They could probably do a bit better than Tactics with today's technology. Not sure why they haven't tried. Just no damn voice acting. I swear they don't know how stupid their voice actors sound when they speak English in that exaggerated way. Like Tidus' 10 sec laugh video.

^ No panty-shot, it didn't happen.

PS : To me, FF has died long ago anyway (after the 6/3).
