I thought we were an overlord, not running an orphanage.
I see nothing wrong with running an orphanage with child loli soldiers. :M

Bonus points if we were the one who orphaned them.

Disappointing. You want Erdrick to become some sort of father figure? I thought we were an overlord, not running an orphanage. :M
Never underestimate the value of good soldiers raised from childhood.

Titties vs. Zhang Jue and not abandoning loli. Tough choice. I'll have to wait and see more arguments before voting.

Hm, I had the impression one of the possible outcomes that the enemy was going for was this: an antimagic field. That also means that anti-magic manacles could be a thing. We should immediately write the Barzham Kingdom into our shitlist and be wary of them.

Anyway, for the choices, A is the classic "lol-retard" option, unless you wish to see Ert ending up with more holes than Swiss cheese. The enemy greatly outnumbers us and we'll expose the twins to be taken hostage. Moreover, if the enemy manages to harm Ert to the point they can see the halo and/or the wing, things will get messy.

B seems solid, but there are several disadvantages:
1. We cannot communicate with the children, so there's little teaching to be done.
2. Since we cannot talk with them, we won't be able to coordinate and thus they'll hinder us more than anything else.
3. While Erd may be able to deflect arrows and survive a few blows, the kids definitively are not.
4. We also only have an arm available if we wish to keep our wing hidden, greatly reducing our fighting capacity.
5. The bloodshed that will inevitably follow may trigger the Carnage Pigeon's destructive urges yet again, possibly to the point where Mercant goes berserk and begins tearing everyone to pieces, possibly including the children themselves.
6. Rin may take too long to arrive or even be unable to provide assistance, since her axe is also magical (although perhaps she's not fully affected due the fact her magic is innate).

Having considered these factors, I believe the best course of action is C, that is, to bravely run away.

Besides, the battle has been enough effort for the day. Time to pick up the children and start running and jumping back to the safety of the forest. Lastly, every proper overlord has to sometimes get away from the heroes that have thwarted their foul plans, all while shaking his fist with fury. Regardless of what happens, hopefully Erdrick remembers the fact that he has a perfectly serviceable sword stored in his inventory.

lightbane, you make some solid points, but you've clued me in onto something else: I think you're absolutely right that these assholes have anti-magic capabilities beyond just a barrier, but I think Rin is in danger, too. If her axe and armor are magical, then it's possible that they've subdued her. Wasn't their commander absent from the field for a little while?
Anyway, I'm not concerned with hulking out right now, since the prince is gone, but I do want to finish this and leave with Rin. I have a bad feeling about this.

If Rin is truly in trouble and not leaving us alone so that we can have gay sex with the Prince, even then, our best option would be to fall back, regroup to see if she's somewhere else, and only then go after the Barzamites if we truly can't find her.

I would be fine with this, I guess, even though I don't agree on half of those counter-points. I mean, really, where did we get that Erd is prone to berserking from?

Still, I believe that by choosing a strategy that aimed to incapacitate the soldiers and avoid direct damage spells we were left with too many enemies to fight. I will switch to C>B.

If her axe and armor are magical
They are her special ability. I think that's like a part of your body.

She should still be faster than any of them, even unarmed.

I do want to finish this and leave with Rin.
Well, the update stated that we will be looking into it after we are done with this, whether we win or lose. You might leave with Rin, but in a different sense that you've hoped. After all, you are inferior to her in a 1-on-1 fight, and especially so when deprived of your magic (she is the melee specialist, not you). If they could have subdued her, they can easily do the same to you.

No, I still don't think she is in trouble, if only because we've seen 90% of their forces. I definitely don't think Rin could be taken down by what is left of them.

Except that C alludes to them staying put in their circle. Which is smart, I would do the same thing.
C. Retreat out of the large scale magic circle. It is quite a distance to run; practically all the way back into the woods and beyond, but once you are clear, you doubt they will follow in fear of your spells.
If they have Rin, they can comfortably keep her and retreat. We didn't get to buttsex the prince, so I'm not in favor of leaving without Rin. Maybe this is unjustified paranoia, but like I've said, I have a bad feeling about this.

Here is the root of our Gayngel-rage:

In the blink of an eye, you land in the midst of the camp. The first thing that hits you is the strong scent of blood and guts. It seems to seep into the very depths of your body, igniting a fire you never knew existed. Your heart begins throbbing painfully. You are… excited. It is an emotion that you have never felt before – at least, not on the battlefield. The blood that has been shed all over the camp is a brilliant, dazzling, beautiful red to your eyes. There is a desire; a simple yearning to see more of it spilled across the ground.

You close your eyes, trying to fight the sudden bloodlust. Is it part of your transformation? You manage to stabilize yourself before a second has passed. When you look at the humans again, they are staring at you in shock.
...
“N-Never mind. I will talk. Angels… To most of us, they are monsters out of a fairytale. My mother used to sing a song to me about how if I was bad, the Carnage Pigeon would come and catch me and eat me…” He pauses nervously.

“Don’t worry, I don’t eat men.”

The mage does not seem to appreciate your joke. He takes in a deep breath. The knife in his chest rises slightly, blood oozing from the wound. “Please, I can’t take any more… just help me…”

“You’re almost there,” you say encouragingly.

“Besides… besides the usual children’s stories, there were records from the ancient war… I heard this from my superiors in the Order. They said the angels had large wings… crimson feathers that could set men on fire with a single brush, and a circle of light above their head that fired rays of destruction which could obliterate a city… but they fought for neither the Five Gods or the Demon God. They only reveled in destruction. That is… that is all I know! I swear!”

If we stopped pretending that we were heterosexual and simply embraced Kyle, I think that our rage would subside, but until then, we will continue to be a deeply-closeted, overcompensating ball of homosexual rage.

Which means they can't leave it ever.

Retreat where? The circle does not stretch all the way to Barzam, does it?

We'd just have to follow them.

Here is the root of our Gayngel-rage:
Yes. Gone in a second. Hardly a berserker material.

If they retreat, they can outrun us on their horses and I'm not too keen on blasting through the sky on electric wings all the way to Bazram at the moment. I dunno, on the one hand I'm paranoid because of Rin, on the other, getting into a fight with seventy soldiers and mages isn't smart, and we already have what we came for.

Maybe "berserker-rage" isn't the right word, but I have a feeling that if we tap into that bloodlust too often and become too accustomed to simply letting go and killing people, our tendency to revel in bloodlust might worsen. It probably isn't the main point against B, and there are better points in favour of lightbane's argument, but I still think it's worth considering in the long-term.

Oh. definitely. There's a reason why angels are called carnage pigeons.
You close your eyes, trying to fight the sudden bloodlust. Is it part of your transformation? You manage to stabilize yourself before a second has passed. When you look at the humans again, they are staring at you in shock.

“A… A winged demon? Is it the leader?” mutters one of the knights.

“No, that wing… that shining halo… it is not a demon,” gasps a mage. “It’s a… it’s a Carnage Pigeon!”

You blink and scratch your head. Did they just say pigeon? Is the Universal Translation spell acting up? You quickly dismiss and recast the spell.

“An angel? Here? That is impossible!” You are uncertain whether this ‘angel’ that they are talking about also means pigeon.

“Believe what is in front of you! We were told that the Methussians might have one! Kill it! Kill it quickly before it kills us all!” shrieks the commander in desperation. There is an intense fear in their voices that was not present even when they were being slaughtered by Rin.
If hardened veterans are shitting their pants at the mere sight of us, yeah, angels definitely have some hardcore history.

So far, we have got excited when there has been lot of blood, but i wonder does unarmed bloodless bone crushing have same effect as good old slicing and dicing with swords.

probably not, but it could be worth checking, if the blood itself is actual the trigger for our impulse.

So, when I vote for the option to nuke everyone with a gruesome spell then I'm told that I need to keep in mind that our character is 'too lazy', but when when we have the chance to spring for 11/10 boobies we decline in favor of instructing children? What is this? Is our emphasis really going to be on the laziness? (Which failed anyway since now we're having to do more work, but very well.)

It's a heresy to declare our character as being anywhere near par with Lord Zhang. He constantly experimented to make himself the strongest and face the hardest foes he could in conflicts where his survival was unlikely, our guy cringes from casting half of his spell over fear that someone will recognize him.

I don't get this spat of B voteS. We already voted to sacrifice the world and the good favor/life of everyone we knew for a potential glance at 10/10 tits earlier, now there's 11/10 and we ignore the opportunity to babysit some kids? Let them flower on their own while we go around deflowering.

While I agree with the sentiment, the kids will be useful in the long run if raised properly. The boy is obviously an aspiring mage, while the girl will make a good understudy for Rin.
Never underestimate the value of good soldiers raised from childhood.
And besides, imagine all the poor single father pussy we'll get by keeping them around.

Huh? What is this, indeed. I thought that the sentiment was 'not while the prince is looking', seeing how A single-handedly won over C in the last choice, and they both involved flinging spells.

It is a question of not becoming a goldfish and not dropping the investment that we already made. What's the point of grabbing another pair of tits if we let go of them in the next five minutes once we see another shiny? We did some work to grab the kids, and I am not going to cancel it out.

I don't think that any of these arguments have anything to do with being 'lazy', so I am not sure who could have told you that.

On the other hand, had you hidden the kids in the forest, we would have all the time in the world to waltz to the commander and bring her with us. Too bad people were so intent on giving them a Zhang Jue styled lessons right then and there, eh? :smug:

It would be too risky for them to come along, and you do not want to have to babysit them in the middle of a fight. You have them stay in the woods, out of sight, until the battle is over.
I mean, if only there was a choice to keep them and not to baby-sit them in the middle of a fight, right? But no, we are the Overlord, what kind of pussy-paladin would we be if we thought 2 choices ahead? :M

It's a heresy to declare our character as being anywhere near par with Lord Zhang.
There is but one Lord Zhang, true. But his school lives on and is open to all. :salute:

Oh. definitely. There's a reason why angels are called carnage pigeons.
The reason is that they enjoy carnage, on a physical level, and thus are more willing to indulge themselves.

Erdrick probably enjoys sex, too, but I don't think we are afraid of him going on an uncontrolled rape spree because of that. :M

While I understand that not giving in to these urges is probably good for our sanity/humanity (both of which I'd rather keep), I find these fears of losing control to be vastly overplayed.

In the previous choice, had you gone with C, you would have revealed your pigeonness, but on the other hand Farland might have babysat for you while you chased tits. If you had gone with B, Farland would be trapped and you'd have much the same choices as you do now except that you replace chasing tits with chasing dick. :M

Good. Because if he doesn't love us in return, we'll have to do some nasty things to him.
