Then maybe at least the OST will be worth listening to.
Interesting. I wonder whose music he's gonna rip off/steal this time round.
Maybe original geniuses' with talent like Zur or Soule!
WE NEED MORE GENERIC ORCHESTRA

Shit. Well, looks like we can expect more of Inon Zur's shitty synthed orchestral music or something equally as bad in New Vegas then. I hate the world.

As far as I'm concerned the original Fallout soundtrack was about 50 percent of what made Fallout awesome for me. It just took me there.

That's about right. Get rid of the music in FO1/FO2 and suddenly you're left with half a game.

Aw crap...

At least the engine allows to replace music without much effort. I used old Fallout music in FO3 and removed combat tracks. It added to the atmosphere, but didn't save the crap game though.

His most original work is probably with PST. Even though though I wouldn't complain if Lustmord did the soundtrack for PST. They were originally contracted to write the OST but at some point they brought Mark Morgan in. One of their tracks was actually used for anearly cinematic trailer of Torment

Most of the music they had written for the game made it into their Metavoid album:
Lustmord - The Eliminating Angel
Lustmord - Blood Deep In Dread
Lustmord - A Light That Is Darkness

Pretty good stuff if you're into dark ambient.

Just a side note, Lustmord is actually one guy.

As for his work on PS:T OST, that's what he had to say:
I was working on a Lustmord album when approached by Interplay to compose music for their gamer "Planescape: Torment". Quite a few elements from that album ended up being used on Planescape (they liked it and wanted to use it). Later, after a new producer decided to change musical direction and didn't use the work that I'd done, some of that music ended up being reworked back into Lustmord again and about 10 minutes of it is in "Metavoid".

Was it the first time you were working on a video game?

Yes, and it was a terrible experience.

Why?

It was very enjoyable to start with, but then the original producer quit and things changed. The company responsible is very corporate, lots of attorneys in suits etc
Originally they loved what I was doing, then, after four months of work, and six weeks before the game was released, they decided on a completely different musical direction and said they were "now thinking more along the lines of John Williams " (!)
I suggested that in that case they hire John Williams and pay him his usual $1M fee
So I was out, and my work, about 46 pieces of music in all, went unused.

I had always wondered who the fuck did the music for that trailer, because it was so fucking AWESOME. Glad to know it was Lüstmord. <3 I love his stuff.
The only real good news to this is the fact that he has the PST soundtracks buried deep within his labyrinth of cassettes and may someday break them out, if not due to effort or laziness then well :sadblinkey:

Luckily we can hear glimpses of his genius in Metavoid, I fear it's the closest we'll ever get.

I don't know why I should give a shit or care, but I am compelled one more fucking time to set the record straight..

The STAND....
I wrote over two hours of original music for the Stand and as a player, programmer and sound designer played on every cue in the movie. So if you still believe I ripped off the Stand than I guess I ripped off myself. The Stand was a very large project and was written over a 2 to 3 months time frame. So unless you know something that I don't maybe you should get your facts straight...

And as far as the Aphex Twin shit I have explained that shit to death, Does any body really give a fuck ?

Anyway, yeah, who is this? Important people don't post in this shithole.
Important people do post here.

They posted more when this was a small place which didn't matter.

This is Mark Morgan, because he bumped a really old topic just to say this. It's typical of famous internet people to Google themselves (I wish I were making this up). When I made some incorrect statements about Desslock's stand on particular games, nearly a year later, Desslock bumps all the old topics with all the wrong old statements I made. Not just what I said, but ancient posts about Desslock from 2002, he bumped in order to clarify.
