Multiplayer selection screen reminds me of some kind of mobile game.

This keeps getting better... Bioware announced that they were no longer doing the multi-player beta test...

I wonder if the game truly is so fucked up that they can't risk an mp beta for fear of all those canceled pre orders.

The Mass Effect: Andromeda multiplayer beta has been cancelled [Updated]

The tech test announced last November isn't going to happen.

As reported last year by Gamespot, Mass Effect producer Fabrice Condominas indicated on N7 Day last year—that's November 7—that a Mass Effect: Andromeda multiplayer tech test would take place prior to the release of the game. Today, however, BioWare said in a blog post about its presence at the upcoming PAX East that the plan has been scrapped.

Fabrice Condominas @Faburisu
What about playing some Andromeda multiplayer early on and providing feedback? https://beacon.bioware.com/ #N7Day

"Join us at the BioWare Base (room 2AB) and be one of the first to join APEX and defend our new home in Andromeda. Featuring different character kits each day, this is your chance to try out Mass Effect’s fast-paced cooperative multiplayer on PC," BioWare wrote.

"While we will have live multiplayer at PAX East, there will no longer be a multiplayer tech test for players at home. Thank you to everyone who signed up. We look forward to seeing you in Andromeda."

The BioWare Beacon signup link that Condominas tweeted is still live, and despite Gamespot's report that the tech test appeared limited to either the PS4 or Xbox One, I didn't encounter any such platform restriction when I signed up. Whether that's because it had been intended for the PC as well, or simply due to the fact that the tech test is no longer happening, isn't clear—nor is BioWare's reason for shutting it down.

Update: In response to my inquiry, BioWare sent over the following statement. "Our team worked extremely hard building, testing, and balancing multiplayer, and we ultimately determined that a tech test would not be necessary."

Test would be not necessary...

Hear that guys? Nothing to see here. Game is so incredibly amazing and well polished they don't need to test it (and probably never did)

Same as any recent AAAAAA++++ game, the suckers that :d1p: 'ed it will be the beta testers and the bugs will be (mostly) sorted out by the time the 4th paid DLC comes out.

It's amazing that there is a job whose primary function is to turn "we are behind schedule" into "it's so perfect it doesn't need testing".

The main complaints are the shit dialogue and that extremely shallow and annoying Asari (PeeBee). It also doesn't help that IGN hired a gaming noob to rush the demo on easy, it just makes the combat look even shittier than it probably is.

Ok, took some time to view that preview... And what the fuck is with all the banter? I understand playful banter or humor, but this isn't that. It feels like a kid show, only think lacking is a villain twirling his mustache.

It IS a kid's show, designed for "adults" with an emotional age registering somewhere in the low teens.

Just watched the vid and utterly gobsmacked at how bad it looks. That gameplay, wow......SO cumbersome!

The worst thing which happened to this franchise was ME2 being so highly praised. The combat has always been wank, but ME1 had enough RPG quality, depth, atmosphere & quirkiness to carry it. However since ME2 they seem to think they can get away with making a crap shooter with RPG trimmings. Sad thing is, with all the fucktards out there, they probably can.

Someone please rewind time and lets make ME2 & DA:2 from scratch, and as ACTUAL RPGs this time. Ta.

No it didn't. Stop lying

Lol :) I loved it personally, hit a very sweet spot. But even then it had flaws. It did however take me as close to feeling like that intergalactic space explorer which I dreamed of being as a kid after watching episodes of Buck Rogers, Battlestar Galactica etc. And playing the likes of Countdown to Doomsday. ME2 was ok but bored me as much as it did entertain me, ME3 I found abysmal.

Either way, combat has never been the games strong point, and it's crazy that it seems to think that's the strength to focus on.

It seems he is already regretting those words. Degenerate influx was probably too much for him to handle:

Aaaah, maaaan.

How will I now fullfil my immarute fantasies of fucking an hot alien babe with tentacles for a vagina?

If there ever was a developer that justified the need for Community Managers it's Bioware. Whenever their developers speak it's like you can gleam the crazy underneath the surface trying to stay hidden yet always somehow finding its way up. Then they have to eat their own words and come up with some PR excuse to not harm the company image further.

They fucked up by destroying their forums now they're expected to engage with their fans only through tweets and events.

The word you're wanting to use is "glean," not "gleam."

An empire brought down from without may rise again; an empire that crumbles from within is truly dead. BioWare was one of the great, prestigious old developers once, but they've gradually positioned themselves to be captive to the whims of SJWs, filled their staff with SJWs, and of course are beholden to the EA Kiss of Death.

When BioWare falls, they'll fall for good. The first Mass Effect is the marker for their turning point. ME1 might not have been the Citizen Kane of gaming, but it was all right. It still tried for a mostly serious, gritty tone, and wasn't crammed full of cringeworthy Tumblr-tier fangirl gigglesqueeing. At the time, BioWare had yet to be acquired by EA, and the doctors were still on board.

Shortly thereafter, it all began to go downhill. Now they've got full-blown SJW cancer, not only among their fans but also on their staff; the doctors are gone; and EA has its hooks well into them.

Did you ever go on the BSN? Their community managers probably have a higher and faster turnover than a fast food restaurant. That place actually made the codex look respectable.

I visited their forums or whatever around the time NWN1 was released, occasionally and briefly, but never since then.
