It was Morrowind Code Patch causing crashes. Turning off "Resolution options fix" fixed it.

Sigourn you may want to update that in your guide.

There no way to unshittify the combat in Morrowind, and despite modder's best efforts, the AI is still profoundly retarded. It's a fun sandbox, but after a week you'll realize you spent more time modding the game than playing before giving up on it.

Finished modding the game after 2 days. Now when I launch it and go to Options -> Video, it simply crashes.

Any advice?

All I got is Sharp list + all mods from https://next.nexusmods.com/profile/hater8/mods + all mods from 4nm (separately) + LGNPC Dialogue Only + Harder Barter, Buying Game and MULE

That's it, it's only 223 mods.
That's not how you do it FFS. You install Sharp and then you test the game first to see if you installed it right. Then you add mods one at a time, checking each time

I think he is trolling. There is no way he installed 223 mods without any file conflicts.

But I'm getting 30 fps outdoors at 4k res. I got a 4080 Super.
This is why I told you not to bother adding more than Sharp, you turn the game into a fucking slideshow. It's a 300 year old game, stop trying to put ray-tracing in it.
It's not a slideshow. I have a 2004 retro PC that runs this 2002 game at 30 fps just the same. It'll do.

Installing mods is the major part of this game. You need to spend a week installing all the mods, then you start the game for five minutes, exit it and forget about the whole thing until you get another nostalgic urge to play this. :M

Not to mention the part where you followed the instructions to the letter, but something still broke.

Trying to play as pure mage under the Atronarch birth sign, which means no magicka regen on rest.
People say summon ghost and let it replenish your mana. It kills me in under 5 seconds with 4nm mods installed.
Any advice?

Enchanting and Alchemy so you don't rely on Magicka so much.

for combat, pick and choose from axemagisters' individual mods [i like PvP and Ultra AI] (dont use his massive AIO overhaul)
This was bad advice to install his mods separately.
The separate mods are severely outdated, the guy only maintains his overhaul.
I picked up a few of them to improve combat, and now the injuries system is complete bullshit, and it can't be turned off without the entire overhaul.

Sharp's "let there be darkness config" in action. This is Caldera on a rainy day (midday!):

(I can't see shit at noon, hello, stop brofisting this mess)

Unlike later games (Oblivion, Skyrim) the combat in Morrowind uses dice rolls. Therefore by virtue of having some kind of to-hit calculation it's closer to an RPG than any of the later games. As someone who played/modded for decades, the combat in Morrowind doesn't need to be changed fundamentally IMO. This is not Skyrim.

Fake news. Many of his individual mods are being updated when needed (depending on popularity). The reason his overhaul is receiving the most of the updates is because of internal compatibility (it is a combination of 30-40 mods).

dont use beautiful cities of morrowind, and install all of hater8s work instead.

ignore OpenMW, use MGE XE so you can use all the great lua mods.

for graphics, use "morrowind enhanced textures", "remiros groundcover", "watch the skies" and "vapourmist"

for combat, pick and choose from axemagisters' individual mods [i like PvP and Ultra AI] (dont use his massive AIO overhaul): https://next.nexusmods.com/profile/Archimag/mods?gameId=100

Agree with everything except BCOM

BCOM trumps hater8's city mods simply because it's 10 times more polished

Man, I had such hopes for this.

Now it's 4-5 hours into the game and I find it unplayable with the mods I installed. I don't want to reinstall to fix all the issues and start a new game. I feel like giving up.

Did I just experience a normal Morrowind playthrough?

Still not sure if trolling.

If you would've used Mod Organizer 2 it's very easy to install, uninstall, and change file conflicts. Just uninstall the mods you don't like, and tweak others you do like. You expect modding to be quick and easy but it takes a long time to understand what each mod does and how it interacts with others.

Also modding gives you the tools to shape the game into what you want it to be. Following a list is for plebs.
