Will the game have controller support? I only see mappings for keyboard. But it says it will be available on next gen consoles. Or perhaps it will require a keyboard even on consoles? Or will you also branch out to hardware and make a custom keyboard for both pc and consoles to facilitate the most optimal gaming experience? It's only natural for however many A's your game has.

PS4 Controller Layout as requested (I don't think they will change the DS formula too much):

Left Analog Stick: Movement. Right Analog Stick: Movement in the Array of Actions. Options: Menu. Triangle: Journal. X: Jumping. L1: Sneaking. R2: Running. R1: Attack. L2: Array of Actions.

See, easy-peasy, done in a minute. Why did you even ask?

I feel like many of your notes/ideas are disjointed. I recommend using a website like Trello that allows you to organize ideas comprehensively.
No, that must be your mind playing tricks on you like mine did to me, it's a large dose of information to ingest all at once. I guess. In any case, all of the ideas are connected, I'm a 100% certain.
You should also drop the "SAEIS" acronym for your attributes because it just doesn't roll off the tongue as well as its Fallout counterpart, SPECIAL. Just focus on making the attributes work in conjunction with the skills which it seems to be anyway. Don't worry about making the initials sound cool.
Say-Is. I say it stays. It was not my intent to make the initials sound cool.
I don't know how you don't think this project is ambitious in any way, having this intricately designed and detailed simulation for each NPC is either going to result in a lot of blown-up PCs, or be extremely time-consuming and result in 10+ years of development, not 6.
I do think the project is ambitious, I have never stated otherwise. 10 years of development is fine for me. I was thinking of pitching the design document to a developer the sort of Bethesda or Obsidian, that is where the 6 years of development come from, I figure that it is possible.
I'd also recommend dropping the "stress" system entirely or making it behind a setting option because from what it sounds, it'll just be very annoying and is more suited for survival games like Zomboid, not for sprawling open-world RPGs.
No! Stress is likely the most important percentage out of the five. It allows for the scripting of the Artificial Reality to work at all. Lots of stress = Carousing, Drinking, Dancing, Talking and so on. No stress = Working, Fighting. Right? It cannot be annoying because it's the core game experience. And Zomboid, I've played, stress is a completely different matter in that game. It was designed to slow the Player down.

Can you please make it turn based?
Nope.
Can you document the preorder bonuses and coming DLC's? I'm thinking of getting this. Convince me
Only one DLC, an actual add-on. Multiplayer for up to 7 or 9 people with Players hosting the game. Pre-order? I guess I can design something the sort of the Dragon Age armour in Mass Effect, why bother though?

I love how sensible you react to actual contructive feedback. If ever you will have a team to design this, it will be pure bliss to work with you.

Could you make the pre-order bonus horse armor?

I have never stated otherwise
You said that it can be proven that the project isn't ambitious, which is the part I was confused about, but whatever.

Say-Is. I say it stays.
That still is a mouthful to say compared to something quick and simple like SPECIAL. but okay.

Then perhaps make it an NPC-focused mechanic? I don't see how it could be fun to tie the player to the same cinder blocks holding the NPCs down as well, and a core game experience can be still bothersome to a lot of players or annoying in retrospect.

It just seems like a really natural mechanic. A real pleasant core experience so to say

Call me a sunny optimist but for a second before I clicked on this thread I thought you'd have produced at least a small demo in the year and a half you've "worked" on this since the last time you made a thread.
There is a demo: https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads/wizards-crown-an-rpgmaker-horror-tragedy.151271/

Can you play and review it?

I don't have time, and I don't think a RPGmaker engine game fits the scope of the OP, so I'm not sure it would be a good use of my time anyway.

The main issue with the OP is that he expects a bunch of people to work for him for free. It won't happen, for reasons we have explained to him repeatedly over the years.

If me not being a troll and enjoying my hobby of designing video games is seriously really sad, imagine how sad your comment must be to me. Discouraging someone from a hobby? You are delusional enough to think that you're helping me? Get back to what reality? How is having a hobby delusional and escapist?
That's fine as long as you realize nobody will make this game for you (at least not without being paid). This has been the main point of contention with most of us. If there was a market of people looking for writers/designers to make games for in the promise of potential future profits those of us who aren't programmers by trade would not have had to learn how to code/draw ourselves. There just isn't one.

There's nothing wrong with designing games that will never be made, I've certainly done plenty of that myself. But that's as far as most of these projects will go: ideas on paper or in some document on your hard drive. If you want one of your designs to actually get make the only realistic options are:
1) Make a pile of money doing something else and pay people to make it
2) Learn how to make it yourself (and limit the scope to something that can be done by one person, or maybe one person with some outsourced work)

It's surprising to me that no programmer on the Codex has enough free time to code a video game that he/she would earn money on in the future. It's called a side project, side job.

You spent a year and a half on determining that the jumping convention being Space (which works perfectly with WASD) is bad and it's much better to go with Q, which is awkward to combine with WASD because they both use the same fingers.
Mortal is supposed to be a AAAA title, the flagship of the next-gen PCs and Consoles. This is meant to be a video game pitch for an actual developer/a design document for a new developer. So, yes, I want to work with a team. 6 years is all the time that should be needed, including vacations.

...

All of this is the easy stuff in making something like a game. The hard stuff of actually programming is that seperates the daydreaming from actual stuff.

And you should know better than to think that someone at AAA studio is going to pick this up. Have you ever heard of such a studio clearing room because somebody showed up and pitched an idea in this way?

There is a reason why people in your place become indie devs.

So the end goal is to reach the front page of the RPG Codex? The plot thickens, as does your autism.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autism

Please read the article behind the link above and explain to me how my behaviour is autistic. If you can do without reading the article, go ahead. It's just that I don't think you're able to do so.
It's a very autistic thing to not grasp how autism is used as a pejorative on the internet~

Nobody in their right mind would work for promise of money in the future. Either you work for money right now, or you work because of passion. And it is very hard to passion oneself for another person idea, in particular through an internet forum, and for an idea as vague and to be honest unoriginal as yours.

Also please, please, please stop underestimating the colossal amount of work required for even a small game. It is not something one does casually. Writing a hundred pages design document with as many drawings is child play compared to programming a Tetris or Breakout clone.

Someone asked OP in another thread what kind of salary he was offering the programmer for this AAAA game. At first he said zero, the programmer would only get paid after he turned a sufficient profit on the game. When everyone laughed at him, OP relented and offered a stupid figure like 50 dollars a month.

Very much this.
The Great Gaias took me seven years to make and Gjallahorn took me four years.

OK, OK, stop it with the hate.

I agree with Hag on all points in his most recent post EXCEPT for that my project is... "unoriginal". Where did this come from? You bastards didn't even read it is obvious.

It's a generic fantasy setting bro. Mechanically, there are already games that do the simulation thing you're talking about. Cultivation Simulator, kenshi, etc.

I'm gonna pitch a few original games to give you an idea :
- Neon White : some guy wake up in heaven and must fight demons doing parkour in small and tight levels, using weapons he can discard to get bonus trick jumps, the quicker the better. Solid aesthetics, techno music.
- Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy : you have to climb a mountain using only a hammer. No legs. No arm. Only hammer. Also you're in a pot.
- World of Horror : a roguelike that is also a card game that is also a horror game where you need to solve mysteries. There's a dog shopkeeper. Strong visual identity.
- West of Loathing : a hand-drawn western game with stick figure characters and lot of jokes.
- Return of the Obra Dinn : a sail ship comes back to port with no crew and sails torn. As the insurance agent, you must investigate, using a magical watch that can makes you travel through time to the moment of a person death. Also strong visuals.

Your Mortal game ? Basically real life but in medieval time and you can do all sort of things. It's vague. It has no selling point, and as far as I'm concerned the "realistic" aspect is a show stopper since I don't play video games for that. There could be other selling points such as a strong art direction but so far nothing you've shown goes beyond run the mill "I wanna build the perfect game to escape reality" idea that I've seen dozens of time in the twenty years I've roamed forums.

There is a successful games that is along the lines of your design : Kenshi, where you can do whatever you want, and which scope and ambition would make a very good subject of mockery if some dude did not manage to pull it out by himself. But it has also an intriguing world that makes you curious to explore.

OK, I admit it, I'm a sucker for medieval fantasy. Also, what I was trying to say was that the gameplay is original, has to be, I never saw anything of the sort.

Your design document is about fucking dices for how the gameplay works and you claim that it is original?
Look at Kenshi or Exanima if you want to see some original gameplay. Both games rejected the stale cRPG tropes inherited by tabletop and created something that could only be done in a video game, with a simulationist approach.

What you have in common with Kenshi's creator is ambition, but besides that it's night and day. I am sure the plan to make Kenshi a reality was not to spam some online forum in hope that somebody will make the game for him. His game exists because despite the appearances he was sane all along. Also, he coded his game, that's how you create a video game.

Same thing for Exanima's creator, he is mocked a lot on the Exanima thread for how autistic he is with his crazy ambition, but there is a video game that exists. He did that by coding his game, and even a whole game engine that could support his ambition. Not by deciding one week that the game should be AAAA then the next it's an RGP Maker shit then a NWN module by the afternoon.

The entertainment value of your game is seeing you becoming more deluded and ridiculous each day. There seems to be no limit to how retarded your next post will be. The only way out is to realize how deluded you are and stop with this RPG development bullshit, there are much better things to care about in life. Honestly I would rather have you reveal that you were trolling all along because seeing someone getting deeper in his insanity in real time is sad. Maybe start by leaving this website, it is obviously making you no good.

Envious, much? You seem very intent on explaining to me that I shouldn't "waste" time on a hobby. I do this for fun. You don't seem to be enjoying this thread so I suggest you eject yourself. Also, you seem to have trouble understanding different projects are not one project. Regardless, there is no point in me wading through your shit.
