Neverwinter Nights 2: Mysteries of Westgate from Ossian Studios has gone gold, according to one of the developers in a post at the BioWare Forums.

As per my earlier post (see below), Ossian and Atari have done the final QA pass on MoW to make sure everything is working with 1.22. We finished yesterday and the critical path and sidequests all check out fine. I’ve gotten the official Atari stamp of approval today, meaning that MoW is now gold!

With MoW in the pipe, the next step is to get this final version to the digital distributors, for as you may or may not know, Atari uses services like Digital River to digitally distribute their games from the Atari website. When that has been hooked up, MoW will be set to release, and you’ll hear the official word from Atari about it. I’ll also post here to tell you the good news.

In the interim, it will be reviewers who will now get their copies of MoW to review. We’re looking forward to what they have to say!

I wonder what Ossian's been doing since the first time it went gold, December 2007 (besides the obvious updating MoW to be compatible with Storm of Zehir).

For some reason, I think it would take a *bit* less for pirates to crack the protection.

DRM is not a protection against pirates - they usually get unprotected versions just a few days after release - it's against customers - so QA had to make sure it fuck ups customers as much as possible.

(fucking NWN modules protection required you to stay online every time you wanted to play their single-player campaign)

Was there ever a final resolution of the NWN2:Gold false advertising issue with respect MoW?

Sort of? According to Atari, the bundle price was never calculate to include MoW, and the whole "it is in there" was just a matter of inadvertent miscommunication. It's not really been brought up since.

I hope it doesn't require SoZ - I'm not buying that expansion.

I doubt it. The skillset needed to develop DRM software is not quite the same as for game programming. If atari has any hope that the protection won't be cracked, they must have hired programmers who specialize in DRM to do it.

Why not just wait for the ultra mega platinum diamond edition which will include all the expansions for half the price?
Thats what i plan to do for NWN2 and all expansions.
I didn't wait for this with the original NWN and ended up buying not only the collector's box of NWN but all the expansions including Kingmaker (CD version) seperately.

Yeah, NWN Diamond indeed was a big convience, but it sucks that all the manuals are on cds. I'd rather get all of them separately from bargain bins. I want the paper, the cds and booklets with proper art in and on them, not just shitty plain discs in envelopes.

It doesn't interest me one jot. I'm not going to spend £15 for a game I'll never play, plus another £10 or so for MoW.

Why is it that every single NWN expansion out there has "of" in the middle? Would it kill them to throw an "at" or an "in" or a "from" in there once in a while?

Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion packs - "Rogues Do it from Behind", "I'm a Bit Stoned at the Moment" and "The Bladdermuncher in the Attic", featuring new epic prestige classes and full-fledged campaigns that'll take you on a journey longer than it took us to create the expansions. Coming to your desktop PC and Xbox360 DLC this Thursday.

Also, for all of you NWN2 junkies out there, the innovative and epic campaign "Fiddler on the Roof" is in the making, featuring the astounding "Jew elf" Drow subclass and new powerful background feats like "Circumcised at birth".

They did a good expansion and an expansion that Volourn didn't like. Chances are this next expansion will be cool.

If Volourn didn't like it, it has to be good. Maybe I'll pick up a copy.

Weren't you making rants about how you were disappointed by SoZ?

And now you reveal you have not played it?

Happily playing SoZ these days. I'll see if the game holds until the end but so far it's very enjoyable.

Actually, it starts a bit slow and gets better later on. The endgame location is pretty much pure pwn.
