Dear sir/madam,
I heard that Namco Bandai is going to prosecute CD Projekt for dropping the DRM and for choosing THQ for the distribution of the XBOX360 version of The Witcher 2. I can’t say much about the latter, because I don’t know if the contract was only about the distribution of the PC version or about both, but about the DRM: I think it is utter stupidity to prosecute them for it. Why? Because shortly after release there were all kinds of problems with the DRM, people, like me, couldnt activate the product and therefore not play the game. Were it not for CD Projekt to drop the DRM I would have returned the product. And I think we can safely assume a lot of people who wanted to buy The Witcher 2 wouldn’t have bought it if it they knew they were going to buy a product that didn’t work. So actually you should be glad that CD Projekt dropped the DRM, because otherwise you wouldn’t have sold as much copies of the Witcher 2 as you did.
That’s why I will not buy any more Namco Bandai products as long as you are prosecuting CD Projekt for dropping DRM and a lot of people I know who bought the Witcher 2 are thinking about doing the same. I think you should think very carefully about what you want: a good long-term relation with your customers or short-term profit (the last not being certain, as there’s a chance that NB will lose the lawsuit).
