Seen then all.

Excel Saga is plain crazy (it can be hilarious but its the demented crazy type and so not for everyone), Tenchi Muyo is ... meh and DragonBall Z is horrible (DragonBall is decent but Z and GT are horrible, expecialy Z with its 30 episode fight sequences).

I freely admit that DBZ is schlock, but it still kicks ass.

Excel Saga just plain kicks ass though. :P

It's mildly entertaining, but not worth $20. Which is too bad, because I would like to buy it...

Anime isn't a genre. It is just a type of film. It literally means animation. Saying that all anime sucks is would be like saying that every movie sucks because you've only seen PeeWee movies and Steven Spielberg's stuff for kids.

Genres within anime are no different than movie genres. You've got comedies, stuff directed towards children (Sailormoon, Pokemon, Dragonball), stuff directed towards teenagers and older (Evangelion, Macross, Cowboy Bebop the series, Samurai X, Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist), and stuff for mature audiences (Samurai Champloo, Jin Roh, the Cowboy Bebop movie, Ghost in the Shell series and movie), and of course porn.

Don't judge every anime based on some crappy DBZ episode you watched on the Cartoon Network.

DBZ sucks. There's no depth to it and the plots are meaningless. It's made for kids - even the creators say so. Battles can span over 20 episodes.

Well if you liked Excel Saga you might like Urusei Yatsura that is a diferent kind of insanity.

But keep in mind it does have a love angle going on but you rarely see episodes about it (I think the most ovbious one is when Lum vanishes but it was needed to be done or we could not see why Lum was still with Ataru) and I always laugh Ataru and Lum were left alone in the house and Ataru realized that whatever he was going to do he was going to get a electric shock anyway and so goes to bed with Lum.

I always find it hilarious when people try to claim that anime is 'Adult's Cartoons'.

They all pander to pre-teens and the ones claimed 'adult' are usually angst ridden crybaby shit with a bunch of gore to make it 'for mature audiences'.

trigun and cowboy-bebop are not kiddie cartoons..

Cowboy bebop is not for kids or teens, its really a ending that makes no room for sequels.

I watched some DBZ, and I don't know who the target audience was... people who who need a very long time to realize what was just said? I watched an entire episode of just people looking at each other trying to figure out what would happen if they fought. Only, they never did fight!!! For goodness sake, thats just trash.

If it has lesbians and tentacle rape, I'll play it. Otherwise, no thanks.

Yeah, if they really wanted to capture some of that medieval atmosphere with a modern touch, they'd have professions such as hooker, witch, and stripper (that's the modern touch, unless they had strip clubs in medieval times, in which case sign me up for Creative Anachronists now!). More RPGs should have those, so at least nerds can experience the social stigma and risks of the sex industry viscerally, and realize how degrading and morally depraved their objectification of women really is. Maybe then E3 will be more than just about the booth babes.

Doesn't that come with a pamphlet?

Pamphlet what? Sorry, I was too busy yelling at the GF to stop doing my laundry and go shake her ass over to the kitchen and bake me some pie.

That goes both ways. My biggest irritation with anime fans is that they seem entirely incapable of distinguishing between the good and the bad. I once went on a bus trip with a bunch of 3D artists. First half, we watched some trippy vampire shit that was entertaining. Second half of the trip, we watched this FUCKING HORRIBLE piece of shit aimed at 5-10 year old girls about a pair of pre-teen female police officers doing inane shit in fucking Hong Kong or something.

But of course, the fucking pod-people minds of anime fans were unable to make the distinction between good and bad, and so they lapped up this giggling hello kitty bullshit. That's what troubles me.

I know anime is good and bad, just like movies are good and bad.

X-Men > Dragonball Z.

Dragonball Z was a lot better when, instead of a gaping faggot with huge hair, it was about four turtles that lived in a sewer.

If "My Neighbour Totoro" is anime, than anime is not necessarily bad as this is one of the best films for children I've ever seen (I generally like watching films for children). "Spirited Away" was also nice (by the same director).

Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke and the like are visually interesting, but watching them is like listening to a 5 year old tell a story, they just go on and on and on about nothing and you just want to pick em up and shake the crap out of them screaming "Get to the point you little shit!"

Anyway back on topic:
I dont like that the dungeon crawling is sinnful, considering they want someone to go into the dungeon and "Save the Princess", I can just see killing the dragon and coming up, to be refused admitance to town until you wash enough windows or donate a bunch of money at the hospital or something

I'm waiting for Spirited Away to hit the bargain bin to pick it up. Too damn expensive but TOO DAMN GOOD!

i'm surprised to hear that trigun is thought to be an example of "adult".

the best anime series i've ever seen by far is Berserk, and that shit may be old, and it may be poorly animated, but it has one of the best plots of any series i've seen, animation or not. takes awhile to get going, but my god, the end is fantastic.

anyone who even considers animation to be a valid visual medium should purchase (or download) it. my god, it fuckin owns all.

i thought Escaflowne was pretty good as well, just watch out for the dubbed version. the dubbing, like all anime dubbing, will have the vomit flyin from you with such velocity as to tear out your teeth as you spew forth.

kazamaki's (sp) movies are good (aka spirited away, mononoke), but are too childish for my taste. i can't urge strongly enough the magnificence of Berserk, it really is that good.

I watch anime and could really care less what you other fuckers think. I'm very picky when it comes to anime though.

Anyways, sounds like a mix between Princess Maker and Dungeon Master. Think I may have to give it a try.

Poorly animated You're crazy.

It has the best artwork ever, and the animation while not 1000billion budget, is pretty good. The only way you'll get perfect animation is with the use of computers or awesome big budgets and computers. You can't really except an animator to draw 25 unique frames of animation per second. Considering it's a series, imagine how much work that would be.

I'm playing that game right now and liking it alot. Actually considering trying it solo. I think that would make the game even more fun than it is now. Gonna do that once I beat the game with my femme fatale bunch.

Rogue pwns j00 all.
