Laidlaw is such a dumbass. The complaint about not being able to equip different armors on your characters and customize their equipment that way is being read as we need to include the option to change colors of the armor they wear all game. I just don't get it.

Wasteland 2 is a thing, and you still keep going at snippets of DA3? Until a handy embedded "feature" video doesn't show us sordid fanfic promiscuity given 3d life by pouring shitzillion of dollars in it... it ain't even worth it. :obviously:

From another article about this:
Throughout the panel, Bioware creative director Mike Laidlaw and Dragon Age lead writer David Gaider fielded harsh questions from enthusiastic fans with the help of Executive Producer Mark Darrah. That said, while there was an overt sense of disapproval of DAII, that accounted for only maybe 10% of the panel. The vast majority was a hooting-and-hollering celebration of all things Dragon Age.

“It's so great to leave the internet and get back to real life,” said Laidlaw, speaking about getting back to interacting with fans and away from angry internet trolls.

Fans stared on with visible (no, seriously, visible) glee as Bioware showed slides of proposed armor customization as well as the various post-mortem faults pinpointed by the developers of Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II.
...
Nearly every fan who asked a negative question to the panel was quietly booed by the outweighing majority (some of whom were in incredible Dragon Age cosplay) of die-hard fans. From Bioware, the tone was of an apology. And from the fans, the tone was of forgiveness. After all, as one fan said when he took the microphone, Dragon Age II may not have been everything the fans hoped for, but it was still an incredible game.

holy shit, look at that enthusiasm.

Bioware, you need to work on your PR. Hire hobos to applaud like FF fans on a otaku convention while riona sings.

Eh, of course PAX East was going to be a circlejerk. You think the large majority of people are actually going to attend a convention for game/developer they don't like? I'm simply surprised that there were dissenters in the audience in the first place.

If Bioware wants to find out the general reception to their game they need to look outside BSN and cosplayers and look at other online communities such as Something Awful or Reddit or TV tropes or whatever...and then realise the large majority hates DA2 as well.

"Internet majorities" are worthless as a metric.

Ill look in my crystal ball and will tell you about the next dragon age ! I see.. i see... Features copied from other console action games , while not attaining the quality of them.Mass effect 2-3 combat is ok and entertaining but its not as good as gear of war or even uncharted. This time they will go full action, not even pretenting anymore to put strategic options again, i thanks them for their honesty .Yeah metal gear combat , visceral but not as good, and plenty of dlcs to customize your guys .Day one dlc with an exclusive companion and an important part of the story they cut off.
Who wants to take bets?

What a fucking pathetic transparent bullshit. Obviously, only 10% disapproved, and obviously it's all internet trolls who are gonna hate.
EAwarez style fact manipulation at it's "finest".
Fact is - all the suckers who bought into your previous crap know, so is there more, brand new audience?

I just mean that the devs need to look past their insane little fandom communities and look at other, less focused forums, to find better feedback. My comment at the end was just another stab at Bio, I don't literally mean they should be taking proportions on how many people like DA2 but rather looking at feedback on how to make a better Dragon Age based on criticisms of DAO and DA2 and what people might have enjoyed about them.

At least EAWare added some 'anti-fans' to create an illusion of legitimacy. Though they exposed themselves by having the majority boo critics of DA2. No sane human would do that...but then again...

On the topic of "decisions that matter," Laidlaw said BioWare is looking to add more character agency ("My character has an active effect on his or her world, determined by my choices")

If you make a yellow choice and then a blue one, for instance, you'll get the green ending.

and player agency ("I have control over my gameplay experience") to future Dragon Age games.

I can't wait to see what the dialogue wheel will look like in DA3.

Dialogue Wheel? DA3 uses a new, revolutionary dialogue system called Cine-Talk. At the beginning you select a gender, sexual orientation and attitude and alignment and the game then makes all your dialogue choices for you. This will lead to an exciting, uninterrupted and engaging experience.

Why have I not been hired yet?

"Why haven't EA shelved this franchise yet?"

DA2 sold 2mil copies in a month. Companies don't shelve gaming franchises that do that. FFS

Because Bioware's already heading there anyway :

ouch, kick in the nuts. I wonder, what's the difference in the gameplay you get from these choices? my guess is that story means the easiest difficulty.

For decades, games have forced players to play by their own rigid and outdated rules. Now, play Dragon Age 3 the way you've always wanted to: Automatically. Why die in combat when you can win in the awesomest way the designers envisioned? Never again will you be locked out from content because of some neolithic mindset of needing to 'win' in a game, as playing games are really about giving gamers the power of choice, and that means the power to choose not to play at all.

Advanced mode available for old school fans who wish to control the camera during action and dialog scenes (camera control unavailable during some scenes for technical reasons).

I didn’t hate DA:O. I didn’t love it, but it did show hints that someone, somewhere at Bioware knew what they were doing. Clearly that person was fired before DAII went into production, because whatever flickering hope DA:O showed was mercilessly snuffed out in DA2.

The irksome thing is that DA:O sold fairly well, and occupied a genre niche that no other AAA game was servicing (on PC or on Console). You’d have thought that they would have seen that support as confirmation that there were people still interested in older format games and that maybe, just maybe, not all console gamers were as totally moronic as the advertising department believed.
Alas, apparently they decided that what the world was waiting for was a cross between Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Mass Effect 2 and shit.
