Why does this game always look so shit? The Water effects are overdone, as if nobody at their studio has ever been outside in their life. They showed a character model completely vanish in their own trailer. And I don't think they could have found a more bored sounding narrator.

"LOOK EVERYONE1!! WE DISCOVERED WATER!" *Queue Shitty Music*

This game is autism.

This is the epitome of polishing a turd. It starts as a decent meal, you mine around, have decent materials based on the elements, decent processing chain, upgrading your equipment, ship and base is interesting...bam! your initial satisfaction is met and now after 3-4 hours the game turns into actual shit.

Fishing was the perfect fit for this game. So much so, that I'm surprised it took them this long to implement it.
Now if they make the effects you get from food consumption actually matter in the game, it'll give the whole loop a reason to exist.

Why is this game still a thing?
A long time ago they took a game that was a complete fucking disaster at launch and finally worked on the game. They got it to a decent state and then started adding more and more content to it. And that's still going today. I actually had a lot of fun playing this game personally a couple of years ago. Except for the game stopping bugs that happened to me. No idea if they ever finally fixed those. No idea if my particular problems happen for other people though. Content wise it's got some fun mechanics that many people may really like and enjoy. And others, not so much. I should at some point maybe give this a go again and see how the game is today.

It's sort of what Starfield should have always been similar too, except for the complete and total dysfunctional, lazy and uncreative Bethesda team. This game laughs at Bethesda in the face...

The game is in a good state. Worth giving another go. There was an update that changed how the planet generation works. There are some truly unique worlds to explore now. The robust settings menu, to tailor the game how you want it to play, has proven to be quite a boon to the game too.

Starfield shouldn't exist. If they truly had to make a Sci-Fi game, it needed to follow the mantra of Skyrim (I say this as a Fallout 4 fan) if they wanted to please their current fanbase and get even more normies to play. The list of issues with Starfield is much to long to get into. I firmly believe that the game should never have made it past the conceptualization phase.

the game is still the very same game of day 1, only with a ton of different stuff on top that DON'T interact with each other. planets are still huge balls of nothing interspersed with the same points of interest you can find on the very first planet you start on.

the ship you get for completing the current expedition looks familiar...

the expedition is a short one this time (but you only have 2 weeks to do it, unlike the previous ones where you got 3 months)

Agree. They've never been able to address the fundamental issue in that once you start recognising procgen assets or patterns in landscape generation the jig's up. Good PR management before and after the botched release explains why Helllo Games are still here.

The updates are simply Skyrim modding at a commercial scale. Noodling in an attempt to fix the unfixable.
