Massive correlation implies causation itt.
No, it doesn't imply causation, but it can't be dismissed as a coincidence either. If you want to dismiss the correlation altogether, then that's you prerogative, but that doesn't make you right.

I guess they are banking on the "OMG BAULDERS GAET" sentiment
EAware will mad.
:troll:

and prefer the people to build up their own ideal project in their minds and then sell them this dream
Too bad I build up my own perfect failure thing in my mind by default, as, I would imagine most people actually interested in backing Obsidian RPG - they have likely been burned a lot by modern cRPGs.

I thought what killed Arcanum was the fact that it was really a bad game with an atrocious gameplay.

Yes, and Mass Effect is a success because it's a great game with awesome gameplay.

Has it been mentioned somewhere whether you can control level up gains of your companions yourself or whether it's done automatically?

I was going to buy the game regardless. Marketing was making me feel like I was being sold the same thing as FO3, except with a big dinosaur, a casino and some reflecting mirror building.
I know what you mean. All the ads and trailers (except the dev interviews) made it seem like some happy-go-lucky casino-themed mole-popper with 'splosions everywhere. I guess marketing things like story and quest design on primetime TV doesn't really get you far.

Fuck, the Obsidian servers are like rollercoaster ride. Did they set them up themselves or what?
Even Obsidian's servers are buggy, inferior copies of BioWare's servers. Not an original idea in their heads and they still can't get it right!

I think gif will sum up Codex's attitude towards this game.
(the first section is done, and the second part is unfolding already, let us hope it will be all righty in the end)

I think they want to make the anti Dragon Age : going for high fantasy but with real depth will be a strong statement and a bitchslap to Bioware and its drones.

BN, but it is our money.
They stop being yours the moment you hand them over. Developer-backers relationship isn't the same as developer-publisher relationship. You don't have even the slightest influence, you hand them the money and hope (or pray) that they will make something you like.

This would only work if the Biodrones were intellectually capable of getting it. As it is they will only be confused where have all the romances gone.

Tigranes No offense but the style of moderation you guys have on this forum kind of sucks. Nobody's making any effort to merge threads that ask for the same or related things, or otherwise regulate the flow of discussion. This is not a good approach for a forum meant to stimulate relevant discussion on a hot new game.

Brother None can tell you how he ran a tight ship for Wasteland 2.

Agreed, and we usually do it pretty quickly. It was just pretty insane the last 24 hours, and the forums kept dying.

Should become more reasonable over the next couple of days.

Edit: E.g. I would do some now, if the forum wasn't dead. Huzzah!

Oh but they will rage my friend. They will nitpick, they will diss, and they will cry like babies...
And everyone will recognize them for the childish, despicable bunch they are.

They're still our money until Tuesday Oct 16, 9:00pm EDT. If, by that time they still haven't got a DRM-free edition and a Linux version, then they'll lose my pledge. If they say they'll do one thing and end up doing another, after they get the money, then they nuke their own reputation, and reputation is the biggest thing they have. It's in their interest to convince me to fork over my money and to be truthful while doing it because each one of us losing a couple hundred bucks or less is nothing compared to them getting a bad rap.

Please consider creating some sub-forums. In particular, a "Game Mechanics" subforum is essential. That should filter out the "storyfag" commenters and let us grognards discuss the nitty-gritty details in peace.

Hehe...
No seriously, codexers are ragers, but in the end most of them swing the right way.
Biodrones on the other hand are whiners because they're wrong, and being wrong they can't tackle what they don't like too openly, for fear of blatantly demonstrating that they're bullshitters through and through.

First of all, make those forums work at the very least.

That's a fantastic idea! It's amazing how nobody thought of that. I'll go tell them right away.

We usually create subforums later in the dev cycle, but in this case it might have to be a bit different, being Kickstarter.

There should be some Codex vigilance on the KickStarter itself, while the forums are down they seem to be all gathering there asking for the game to turn fully 3D, and for romances, Multiplayer and full VA in force xD
Some of the latest comments are about how wonderful assets can be reused over and over in 3D engines and how they should make the game look like Borderlands.

This may be the source of a lot of the rot: http://social.bioware.com/forum/BioWare-General/Off-Topic/Project-Eternity--14106676-1.html
