Grab the Codex by the pussy
You'll note that he doesn't actually answer the person's question regarding how traps will deal damage, but prances around it instead. "It's generally best for damage to hit Stamina first" is the closest he got to answering, which isn't a real answer, but indicates that they may only do Stamina damage.

They are pretty good at doing that. The interview I did during the Kickstarter asked a lot of direct questions and he deflected all of them in that manner.

But whatever, I'm probably gonna go through on Hardest difficulty plus Expert mode only so as long as it's challenging on that then I don't care about any other difficulty.

No, he says in that response that they'll do health damage too. It wouldn't make any sense to do stamina damage only, because any stamina damage would be immediately regenerated outside of combat.

what, trap are just damage maker? There is no petrification trap, confusion trap and other spell trap of the likes? (always turn an easy combat into an hilarious mess)

Nobody said that. The question asked specifically about damage-dealing traps.

Ok. I had this impression while reading this thread lately, since you were all only discussing about damage traps.

But that means there's no instant death (equivalent of infinite health damage if no saving) traps (such as petrification).

Definitely not on the normal difficulty I would say, it would hurt too many people's feelings :P

I can just imagine his response too, he would talk about people simply metagaming around it once they died to the trap. Thing is people are gonna do that anyway.

No instant death traps, but other status effects are a possibility. Probably only with traps in combat situations because I don't see the point of putting a confusion status effect or whatever on you outside of combat. You'd just wait it out.

I don't think there are going to be any permanent status effects in PE. Sawyer is on record for thinking things like hold person last too long. So a status effect trap out of combat seems pointless too.

I *could* actually see instant-destroying of all health since you only get an injury in normal mode.

Was it posted? Josh promised a cool dialogue window:

A minor note for clarification: our dialogue window will be a different interface from the dialogue log. The former will be prominent and display larger character portraits (among other things). The log itself is really just for scrolling back through the conversation if you want to review it. It can be toggled with the combat log in the same window.

This could be the start of a beautiful meme. Is there a web generator for this?

I've played them all, and not just casually, I assure you: BG1+2, IWDs, Fallouts, ToEE, and I next to never used a combat log. I also remove it when I can do so. To me it breaks the RPG "immersion" one step too much. I know it sounds dorky, snobbish even, but it does. I'd much rather just reload and try a new tactic.

Someone should go on their forums and just show what a dumbfuck this douche is. It's because of people like him, we can't have nice things. Numbers ruin his "immersion" o_O :x. I just hope that in spite of him and people like him Obsidian won't streamline PE. Let it have proper breeding and genetics of IE games, and Darklands, and even improve upon them. They have enough of popamole titles, now let them show what can they do for a more intelligent crowd!

My post was not of "Karkarov" guy. His posts are way worse than that. And there is no point arguing with him.
He doesn't like text in games, didn't like any of IE games except BG2 and that only just, he wants minimal UI, he consider DA2 having the best combat of all RPGs,he would prefer even hit points to not be represented by a bar but by watching your character condition etc. etc. etc.

If that's the representation of Obsidian's audience, now I fear for the game. :(

Why not both, like in Doom?
Both maybe can work. But he wanted to have hits be monitored by listening to your characters grunt or scream where they are hit, make their avatar bleed etc. With SIX characters and who knows how many enemies i can easily imagine it becoming a complete clusterfuck.
ffs some people on Codex can't handle the RTwP for party combat as it were in IE games. If you remove feedback and having it be solely visual and sounds it would be unplayable.

Not all. He is sertainly one of the worst. He genuinly likes modern RPGs more than the old ones. I just don't understand why did he bothered with P:E in the first place and didn't wait for DA:I.
