Alright people, we've got everything for our first upgrade all set, just need Fleet Marks. Same thing for three current projects.

EDIT: Hooah, first upgrade is go, only projects to go.

Uhm... Is this game playable by now?

I played at the very beginning and the game was halfway done at best.... basically you had no idea what the heck you were doing until reading through dozens of manuals. All of those crew talents, ship talents or whatever it was, skills, weapons and no idea what of that is actually good and useful and what not. This is actually an issue in most sci-fi games - a lance beats calvalry, everyone knows that, but a blaster does ... what? - but in this game, I felt it was even worse. Funny enough, I had an easier time getting into EVE :D

it's still halfway done, but "doner" than before. they revamped the skill system and it's easier to get behind now but on the other hand introduced (fun) shit like the duty officer system which can get rather complex.

And if you're getting back to the game, just post your Character@Handle information and/or send a friend invite to Valkar@vaarna_aarne. I'll send you the Fleet invite(s) (alts welcome, and we have a KDF fleet as well) and chat channel invite.

As for advice on phaser beats blaster rifle, we can provide. Our crew is way above the average STO player in terms of quality, and we've got some people who play PvP regularly, and most people have done plenty of theorycrafting and optimization on their ships and ground equipment.

Btw, any of you assholes @Zeramith?

ACHTUNG!

A tragedy has occurred! Our trusty Tier 0 set of Fleet projects are no longer available! Currently we cannot select any but tier 1 Military projects (which are *really* expensive btw, compared to XP gain), and the other project types will be available after our Upgrades are finished. Therefore I think it's prudent we first prioritize the Upgrades themselves (currently we have the Science and Engineering Tier 1's planned, followed by Starbase Upgrade 1), after which we have Duty Officer contacts, Transwarp Conduit and a lot of other shit to do.

So, what we really need to do now is...

1) Up the recruiting ante, big time. Any and all bros with at least basic literacy are good candidates.

2) Disregard females even more, acquire even more profit.

3) Seriously, moar bros desperately needed.

I'm sad to say it, but at our current numbers and activity I don't think we can put active effort into the KDF Starbase. Hell, I'm not sure if we have enough for 100% progression effort with just our Fed Starbase! If we had just 16 more people, we could handle this thing as a really smooth operation without any problems at reaching any daily quotas.

Cryptic only has one mega server that hosts both Champions Online and Star Trek Online.

And it's running surprisingly smooth lately. What do fleet members need to contribute? Looking for doffs at the moment?

Just 16 more? Do you understand now why earlier I was mildly upset with the massive requirements to upgrade the bases, compared to the trial weekend?

The one main reason why I liked STO was it was much more fun and less of a grindfest than other MMO's... If I wanted to play games that required 50 team members and weeks of contstant OCD-level dedication to achieve anything I could have bought World of Warfag or EVE. I still like playing but it's becoming more like a chore and less like entertainment all the time.

doffs, fleet marks, dilithium.

i'm not going back to feds. their assignments and ship designs suck ass. i shall build our glorious kdf starbase myself, even if it means no more executing white doffs for mutiny and takes all of my lifetime sub to do it!

Actually I calculated that at 16 extra players we won't have any grind on the starbase for a while. During Power Hour, we could get all of the day's Mark needs within half an hour, and even have extra. Hell, if everyone chipped in 2000 Dilithium a day the Dil costs wouldn't be an issue either during a crunch. I think this entire active recruiting thing should be done precisely to AVOID turning the starbase into a chore/non-entity for us.

Currently, for 100% progress, some of us would need to grind.

PS: The whole thing wouldn't even be so bad IF we still had access to our earlier XP Projects. Also, it seems our primary source of XP for a while will be the upgrade projects, since among the main projects at least in Military all but two are extremely expensive (in terms of doffs, actually, requiring 60 of them). Sadly both of those two provide reduced XP (500) because they also generate provisions.

Do we even have 16 players at the moment? I thought we were like 5? You, me, Jarpie and the 2 outsiders.

Also is the not having access to previous projects a bug or it intentional?

Also also: there's no way in helll I'd be able to get 2000 dilithium in a day, the most I've ever made in a day is like 400, from striking it lucky on DOFF missions. I've probably had/spent a total of 100 000 across all charcters since starting the game in February. If I could turn 2k in a day, I'd have kept it and never spend a cent on their real-money-for-virtual-shit store.

That's why I said we need to do some recruiting.

And really, getting 2k Dilithium in a day of casual play is piss-easy. Just run a few STFs or just do the quiz + officer reports routine at the Academy.

EDIT: Hell, Turn In Contraband assignment gives 2k Dilithium outright!

Well I've only very rarely had that mission, like once or twice and I don't remember it giving me that much dilithium. But I guess that would explain the insane prices Contraband is fetching on the exchange. I don't play nearly every day but I will contribute what I can. Are there any actual benefits to having an upgraded base apart from e-peen growth and another place to access our banks and change ships?

special missions, like ones where your base gets attacked by random enemies and assignments, fleet credit vendor.

New ships, new uniform pieces, more transwarp locations, special buff items, etc.

EDIT: Quiz + Officer Reports gives 1.6k total. With a single Normal STF, you've hit 2k. And since you can run a lot of STFs, you hit the daily 8k in no time after you start running them on Elite.

There's a daily requirement of dilithium? What happens if you don't reach it? Or is it you can only burn up X amount to advance your starbase in a day? And where you do deposit the dilithium?

That's just the amount Vaarna wants us to contribute in order to upgrade the base as quickly as possible. You dump it in the fleet assets (starbase) screen, in any of the active projects, same as fleet marks.

Well shit. Just signed on and looked at the list and some jerk's already filled all the dilithium slots. Donated some shield generators and shit I had at hand, at least. Maybe next time I'll catch it in time for dilithium/doffs.

Quick edit: By the way, are those mirror universe ships any good? They seem within my price range on the exchange, so I'm half tempted to pick one up for my engineer captain. Of course, then I'd be horribly tempted to buy the mirror universe uniforms too which I've always wanted.

They pretty much just switched the skins between Star Cruiser and Assault Cruiser.

Oh, shit, you're right. Well that'd probably be a silly use of credits then. Particularly since I prefer the look of the non-mirror assault cruiser and would want those officers and consoles.

Also what the hell! Turning in contraband uses up 5 now. I was gonna burn up my contraband to increase my dilithium stockpile for starbase shit but that's ridiculous. RIDICULOUS I SAY.

That jerk would be me. I've been putting in shitloads of Dilithium for our projects, but I can't keep up these kinds of Dil spending rates for much longer, which is why halp is requested.

Also, for commodities, the best thing to do is check the Vendors list at the wiki and see where you can obtain them the cheapest. It's often possible to reduce the costs by 50%, and you get to visit Cryptic's pretty largely unused planet hubs. http://www.stowiki.org/List_of_vendors_by_location

Do Confiscate Contraband From Crew, Inspect Civilian Freighter and/or Attack Fugitive Support Network. Those are likely to keep you stocked with Contraband, and there are other ways of getting Dil too (like STFs).

PS: Also bros, it's advisable we work towards the Fleet weaponry construction options. Me and Jarpie had one of those things shown to us today, and all I can say is DAT FUCKIN' GUN at the Ultra-Rare Mk XII 3xDmg CritX Phaser Pulsewave Rifle.

Yup, I do. Or rather did when I played semi-regularly. Have something like 150-200 contraband stockpiled so after I burn through the 100k or so dil I've got on hand I'll probably start turning in contraband for glorious space station, and have 30-40ish doff booster packs I guess I can tear in to for the cause.
