I gave up on Scourge league and am enjoying the patch by tooling around in Standard.

This is a map juicer league, and I'm an chisel, alch and sextant guy, who doesn't do much trading.

it's like 1/4

after spending an entire day hunting for a Delirium Essence and then another day farming Foothills for a large 8p phys cluster I finally brought my Corrupting Fever Glad online. It's still early days, gem levels are low and I have no Empower, but the clear feels amazing. The speed I am going at I am fighting more with the terrain than the monsters. Can definitely recommend as a 2nd char, if you have a strong bosser already.

Re: frenzy charge generation, cold snap can be pretty sweet with extra area. Vaal cold snap gives it against conquerors too.

In Harvest I called my saboteur "AreTrapsHay" (the dreaded G word is filtered).

I got through almost the entire league with it, but someone reported the name in the last week and I had to rename the character.

If you properly invest into multiple layers of defence and don't roll your maps like a retard, you'll be able to stay past 200 stacks (which is VERY lucrative now). Until then, just don't go in past a certain threshold that you're comfortable with, IMO.

are you putting in 5-links every time? Even when starting with a 5-link the chance isn't very high. You first have to win a 15% chance and then a 50% chance after that, so at 10 tries you are still below the average expectation to hit one. Just use the tainted fusings.

Aren't the Tainted Fusings down to a Chaos or two? Start with 5+1, Tainted, if you go down to 4, Tainted, if you go down to 3, bench craft to 4 and go Tainted etc. It shouldn't take long (way, way shorter and less opportunity cost than using the Scourge item slot).

Well Gerrard might be onto something. BTFO'd the 5+1 links plopped in a death rush ring then it flipped for 74c profit instantly - negative lightning res at first try I guess.. or +33 mana..

managed to reach red maps in ssf. With poisonus flask pathfinder. Not very unique judging by poe.ninja, ranger is so tightly packed with good stuff that there are no real variations to be had.

5k hp, 1.5k es with ghost rider. Feels weird that my first actual hybrid? was a ranger.
Kept corrupting my jewels but I was not able to obtain corrupted energy.

One day I shall reach red maps with proper weapon attack build.
As usual I got bored when real grind starts

What about playing that PF poisonous flasks but with Iron Reflexes (with Determination and else) it felt somewhat better? Less crashes (aka death screens), only did 3 red maps due to low damage, especially bosses.

i recall once i tried elemental hit but it just sucked too much half way through the campaign. One day I will do it! Dont want to now as I have too many uniques to make leveling easy.
I must say I keep eyeing some wand stuff for extra pain

Well, obviously, attack builds have one gigantic problem that can't be overcome easily: they depend on weapon DPS.

In the first days of the league, you're not going to be getting 500+ DPS one handers, or 800+ DPS 2-handers, so there's a real damage ceiling in place. They don't even massively benefit from +gem levels (as opposed to spells). So you're left with chasing a full-crit build, or scaling exerted attacks (and that barely qualifies as an attack build). Potentially you can also go for poison hit builds, which have reasonable scaling.

Then you've got the additional obstacle of hit builds being some of the squishiest builds in the game, which is just an insult on top of serious injury. It doesn't make any sense that melee builds should be squishy- nor should it - but your #1 damage avoidance tool is being able to move and deal damage. A 1m DPS DOT build is infinitely more survivable than a 10m DPS hit build, all other defenses being equal, just by virtue of being able to cast and move.

So, it's an interesting challenge, league starting a hit build. I don't personally recommend it, because it feels like ass, but chase the dream.

Watching people flop their dicks out with currency chat links and high end items is comedy. It was actually interesting watching that Preach Gaming dude start POE blind (no guides, no tutorials, no info going in) and get to mapping. He wasn't losing out by not killing Maven in three seconds.
