That Deadfire gathered a bunch of Best RPG 2018 rewards thanks to Californian/American/Leftist positive bias (c).

So I was banned on P:K steam forum for bitching about Deadfire. Almost poetic.
Honestly? I'd rank Deadfire as better even though I really want it to be PFK. Unfinished Pitax + hoteot + horrible lag in latter half of game, I was willing to excuse it at release(I got to Armag's tomb at release before the game got so buggy I was unable to complete it.) The fact that they've put effort into DLC instead of you know, fixing/finishing the base game is just frustrating -- calling it an "enhanced edition" is just an insult when it still feels unfinished.
PFK starts off incredibly strong, but everything after Vordakai's Tomb is a slow decline. IMO it got a ton of praise by people who never even finished it but were impressed by the first half.

Also, at least Deadfire never sold classes as DLC to the best of my knowledge.

Guess it's sort of a "slow and steady wins the race". Owlcat needs to get their priorities straight.

How long ago did you play through the latter chapters? I was concerned about stability after hearing about other people's issues in the latter half of the game, but I recently finished my playthrough and outside of some alt-tabbing issues the only real bugs I encountered were in a couple companion quests. Though there was certainly plenty of fucked-up quest logic.

Very recently.
Pitax is still unfinished, hoteot is a mess, and it was taking 3-5 minutes just to save my game. It wasn't an issue on my end because owlcat confirmed it existed after a bunch of people complained.
But hey, at least there's some roguelike DLC that nobody asked for. I was willing to cut them slack for their first release and give them time to fix/finish it, but they seem more interested in pushing out DLC.

Of course deadfire wins more awards last year, it's a much more polished game.

Kingmaker was a buggy mess when launching and it would require some serious luck for someone to even finish the game; all the quality of life improvement was not put in there yet and there are still tons of retard design choices Owlcat refuse to fix even now(like the absurd amount of trash mobs, and the slow moving speed outside of combat).

I was playing the Kingmaker with 8 different mods, all of them are quality of life mods. I play deadfire with 3 mods on and none of them are quality of life ones.

I just started this and I must say that I like it. Running a kingdom (just started) is kind of cool.

My first two biggest observation are that prone stuff is retarded, and barbarian seem like a fucking excellent class (my main is a wizard and I'm kind of dissapointed for now).

I think Pitax at least has some nice stuff in it, and I wasn't upset while doing it because at least you get to actually make some fucking roleplaying choices for once... but it's really clear there was supposed to be more there

I never told that P:K is only good game released in 2018. I am completely chill with awarding Kingdom Come: Deliverance - it is excellent and much more unique than yet one another "BG inspired" isometric game. It was also released on all major platforms and sold so good mostly on a word of mouth. So putting Deadfire, best reviewed game of the year by "coincidence", ahead P:K and KC: D as best RPG 2018 for me is nothing but a pondering to a very specific audience.

PS I would still vastly prefer P:K to both of them but it biased is opinion of the person who grew up on IE games. And I've completed my EE run couple of days ago and never seen save/load longer than a 30s. (Had not tried to play it on AMD HEDT cpu though).

I actually never stated my preference for which game -- it's PFK. I'm angry at the devs for not fixing the glaring issues, they don't deserve any awards for releasing DLC while the base game is in its current shape. The game still needed another 6 months-year of work before they released an 'enhanced edition'. Also, putting basic pathfinder classes up as DLC is pretty fucking high on the bullshit meter.
If someone who is new to the genre asked me which of the two to play I'd recommend Deadfire. Is it the best experience? No, I was disappointed by it -- but it's a finished, polished game that I encountered near zero technical issues with(they had a lot of time with PoE 1/WM1/WM2 to work technical issues out.) I'd only recommend PFK to someone who has a lot of experience with the genre and is willing to overlook some bullshit to enjoy the gem that it is.

I do not see anything wrong with Pitax. It has big peaceful location - Tournament, opens 2 regions with high level content, some dreamwalking and beautiful and very decently designed dungeon. Only disappointment could be a lack of a big city to explore, but to be honest, exploring a huge city is not what I want to do when I am 100h in the game already.

Also, putting basic pathfinder classes up as DLC is pretty fucking high on the bullshit meter.
Kineticist is an anything but a basic Pathfinder class. It not a Core or even Advanced class, it comes from secondary and pretty obscure book among the other 50+ classes from obscure books. Choosing it to add in the game is a bit baffling though. I think main reasons are a good companion idea + glory of NWN2 Warlocks of all things.

And as I have already wrote in another thread - chances to run in horrible performance issues between P:K and Deadfire is roughly 50:50. I still had stuttering and 10 fps ship battles in my last attempt at PoE2. It is impossible to count which has more problems, but there are a fare share of peoples mentioning low fps and a long loadings about both games here on Codex.

Pitax definitely feels rushed and bare-bones compared to previous chapters, especially the city itself.

Currently at my play through I just finished chapter 5, and the loading time is more or less fine(much longer comparing to the start of the game though). However whenever I tried to close the game it makes my computer freeze for at least a minute.

The thing is they promised to deliver DLC's that's include season passes bought from Steam and Kickstarter. And they already delayed them quite a bit.
Also for some reason I don't have stutters issues or whatever it is.

I don't have a clue what you are talking about. I needed exactly 0 mods to finish PKM 2 times and run 5 more campaigns into different parts of the story.

Anyone having issue loading pre EE games? seems to get infinite loading screen.
Last patch was supposed to fix this. I guess there are more cases that cause it if you are running last version of EE.

I tried to load one really old save like this. Took almost 3 minutes but in the end it even loaded. I suspect game tries to do some conversion for kingdom data.

Just left it for 40 odd minutes while I was busy elsewhere.... no dice. Has not frozen just won't load. Very frustrating as I just finished Varnhold's lot for that play through and now will have to do both again.

And those idiots on steam forums are so adamant that the game is bug free. Fucking morons.

It also does not load if game was modded with some content mods (any new items, feats etc), but I guess it is not the case.

I did have the turn based mod installed when I first tried but I have uninstalled it and the unity manager both and still no joy. RIP.
