Was going to start this on 1.1 but now I'll just wait until 1.2 and the new kingdom interface.

Oh well, got Pokémon Let's Go Eeevee to play anyways
Hmm.. now you're giving me ideas. I just finished the Stag Lord quest..

What's the ETA on that patch?

So yea, neither my MC nor Linzi have the damage output to handle the soul eaters consistently. I can kite them around for 10 minutes and EVENTUALLY get them down but then the real fight starts and that's it. Also no way to defend against ability drain, how lovely.

Right in front of Vordakais crib. The fight where you deal with the two special soul eaters first and then get swarmed. It's not that it's completely impossible to deal with them, it's just entirely reliant on consistently good dice rolls for my party. Also Linzi keeps bugging out and vanishing from my party so even after I won the first phase of the fight I had to reload. :mca:

The best approach I've found is to use fascinate with Linzi and then hope and pray Ear Piercing Scream rolls high enough to kill the one targeting her.

e: I dun did it, although I had to cheese the fight quite a bit. Thank fucking god.

Yeah, that was a tough one for me too. Linzi was vanishing because the soul eater killed her. Same thing happened to Nok-Nok (minus the vanishing, he just died). I had to do that fight several times and finally hasted myself and got lucky. The fight after that killed me once too and I was like, "you can't be serious". The dungeon gets even harder IMO. Huge, epic dungeon that one.

The ending slides are awesome! There's so many of them, and so many outcomes to a lot of your decisions, some which seemed casual and not too important...

Being done with this game, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's still not free of bugs. It will never be. But it's, as I said many pages back, 100% the closest to BG 2 we have ever gotten. Is it better? That's the wrong question to ask. It's a different game, but a game that's similar to BG 2. And I really enjoyed it.

The endgame has many problems and others have listed them better than I did. But despite that weak, yet mercifully short part in what is otherwise an enormous game, I had a wonderful time and wish the developers the best of luck.

I encourage you all to try the game. Wait a little, if you please, as even now, despite it certainly being very playable, there are some bugs here and there. Personally, I would not count on them all being fixed, but it'll certainly be a game to be remembered, and one we'll put on our "Top 50 CRPGs of all time!" lists. The story, while not as memorable as some of our friend MCA's tales, is enjoyable and well-implemented, and, in little scenes here and there, you can still feel the master's hand.

How many hours did it take you to beat?

Oh, I had the bug with Linzi vanishing multiple times. Win a fight, Linzi was seemingly never touched at all, still vanished from the party interface but her character model remained clickable and usable for some reason.

That's not a bug - check her equipment and the ring she's wearing. :)

Damn. That's where I'm at. To be fair Persuasion is a class skill for Barbarians, i.e. to Demoralize opponents. But this is just crazyness.

It's not that smart to get Nok-Nok into that dungeon. Some of them are immune to critical hits, and then dagger master is MUCH weaker. Also they can hit quite reliably. If you didn't get that OP crown, Nok-Nok had bit worse stats.

The worst part of that fight was main character never told that bird its name, and still got fight. Remember when you have an undead character in party, say her name, she wouldn't mind to have fight with monster that can't do much damage to her, and she can banish it anyway. Well, that funny fight was Harrim can you fight. And wizard vs eater. As it turned out, expeditious retreat is the most important spell. Then that stuff that happened afterward was you gotta be kidding, they are using the old balance. J managed to get 2-3 of them by banishing. Then during rest party was obliterated by random greater cyclop or by something. And this time, J. didn't managed to get ANY of them, all did saves.

It really felt like that fight was still leftover from old balance, that harder one.
Then I managed to get three lucky criticals from zombie lords in that room with dinner, into best fighter. And from easy fight where one two cleave massacred everything. It turned into, lets hope you like these fireballs, don't worry it hurts your enemies more than you. Yup last raise dead scroll.

And of course that fight in front of Vordekai resting room. That took me nearly whole night, because after I did it rather easily, I had encounter with random group of cyclops during rest who got few lucky hits, and I didn't did runaway properly. Then in several next attempts, enemies had lucky streak of criticals. I learned that casting divine shield on leopard for +3 AC helps massively. Also Harrim tried blade barrier. (Then it was fight with AI to not kill characters by charging enemies through blade barrier, after they finished a spell and wondered what to do next.)

Then there was that fight with Vordekai. It started by finger of death against main character which totally destroyed whole strategy. Then Harrim tried spell that learned just before this fight, while others massacred Vordekai. That spell actually worked, and main character just need a lot of healing to by able to return to the fight. Rest of the party remembered there is actually more enemies than Vordekai and most of them switched attention to other enemies as well. Main character discovered that greater invisibility works against Vordekai for exactly 3 seconds. Meanwhile Vordekai tried boneshaker against boneshaker specialist Harrim, which remembered the main enemy is undead, thus he can channel positive energy without restriction. Harrim survived three boneshakers and was still standing, while Vordekai ran out of boneshakers. Meanwhile other caster was casting magic missiles against Vordekai that had shield. Situation bit improved when there appeared a red capped person with a scythe.

Then a comical relief appeared with a scream "Why did you leave me outside?". Then he did his stuff, and teleported away. That red capped with scythe teleported away shortly after him.

And then Vordekai started screaming "I'D KILL EVERYONE." And started talking to his companion which was splattered on floor when dagger master did mano a birdo because he finally had something that wasn't immune to backstabls and because only he has right to snitch names to ferocious soul eaters, two other party members helped too during contest if they can outdamage Harrims healing. They won. Then he cast fear, which was resisted by everyone with exception of wizard, main character. Then Harrim started runing after him in heavy armor, to get close enough to cast remove fear. And rest of the party started whacking Vordekai again. Followed by few castings of magic missiles against still shielded Vordekai. Then leopard did two natural 20 in the row, one for 36, second for 30, and Vordekai started pleading for mercy. J. later recognized she should try also another scythe in case that unholy scythe didn't work against Vordekai. Then Vordekai had mental breakdown when he discovered that baron released these soul jars. And baron nearly got mental breakdown when he discovered that releasing soul jars didn't improve morale of the barony, and barony morale is still crumbling. And most of buildings in Varnhold should be different anyway. On the positive side Vordekai accepted offer to be a councilor, and cede Varnhold to barony.

First try, only half party fought. (Most work did two handed fighter with holy weapon, dagger master, leopard, and three dire wolves.)

Yeah, the crown shattered in my game. The dungeon wasn't too bad except for a few points, the soul eater fight and then the water elementals until I was told that resist energy/cold was the way to go. The Vordekai fight was mostly just "swarm until dead" but my main character had to run away because he kept getting insta-killed. Not very heroic but eh, had to do what I had to do. Ended up equipping a javelin +2 and just backing out of harm's way while my fighters took him on. After that the fight was easy, the key was not letting the main character get insta-killed. Pretty cool dungeon overall and interesting story stuff.

I see you are at the tomb of fivehundred Cyclopes with greataxes and huge STR scores that like to crit!

At least they can't gib Jaethal into chunks. Everyone else though...
This is why you a) give Jubilost the force bombs discovery as soon as it comes up and b) set him to autospam said force bombs. They can't crit if they are face down on the floor.

True, and I have those, but I was trying to save them.
There is no point to saving them, though, considering you save up on other resources that way. Jubilost did the entire dungeon in my game, with two rests in-between. The only difficult fights were the elementals, who either are immune or have good saves, and the soul eater. (And only because I made the mistake of having Linzi in the party, who of course couldn't miss the chance to act the local idiot.)

I'm hoping these DLCs seem fairly lackluster because they're going to also be expanding chapters four and onward. The first three chapters (stag lord, trolls, and vordakai) are really great with a ton of varied content and the events connecting and flowing well together. After those, though, the chapters seem to mostly consist of 'go here, kill everyone in the map, then go here and kill everyone on the map, waste time on kingdom management until the next event pops up, then go kill everyone in that map' and repeat.

Unlike Dumpsterfire, in which the retards at Obsidian decided to make 90% of it voiced, hopefully content creation won't be too costly here.

Custom party? Because if you use companions there are 3. 1 for mc and 2 for companions. Just named to bird my front line fighters and they had death ward up all time.

Doesn't one of the the sisters say it when you confront them, right in front of the bird? Or can you skip that part?
I'm pretty sure that happens no matter what. Which is a bit :decline: if you've been cagey about your name, but you are pretty famous at that point so fair enough.

I must be the only one who has decided to go for the towershield romance.

Not exactly a thrilling experience, but at least I don't have to worry about my girlfriend's boyfriend.
I started during my first playthrough but it either bugged, or I didn't rest enough on area maps to get the morning camping interactions, because I didn't get any ending slides about it, just "Valerie continued to serve the king" and "many noble houses are sending the king marriage proposals!"
I could booty call her whenever was in the capital, plus she made me a fancy +5 Persuasion shirt, so I'm guessing it was a bug.
