I’ve never seen any evidence that the bug reporting system is anything but cosmetic. That goes for P:K as well. Most things do end up getting fixed but it seems like they hear about it through streaming or Discord and some of the things that are broken are inexplicable in the first place if they had the most rudimentary testing.

AFAIK bug reporting system is their main source of bugs, they even use it on their streams to report bugs. They have significantly improved it since PFKM. I think main problem, as it was stated on one of the streams, they weren't focused on fixing bugs in last 3 month, but tried to finish all main features. So don't despair!

I had a lot of optimism for this considering the high level of quality for the first Alpha. I'm beginning to think we might see a repeat performance of Bugmaker's initial release. I hope the final chapter isn't an absolute shitshow again.

I’ve done this with some of my own work - you get carried away with the good stuff and forget to check your work and then people get caught up on that and it drives you crazy.

It’s about hiring good help (this is why there used to be secretaries) and they decided to hire communications directors or whatever instead. Happens.

Whats up with the legion/army system in wotr??? Did they learn nothing from kingdom managment system in PKM.Stop with tedious BS already.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMOFt_APDtU

this is the one turn-off for me in this game that im still pretty excited about :mixedemotions:

Why the turn off?

It was only tedious because the buildings didn't matter (they do, sort of, this time) after the early game and because you listened to the early haters and never figured out that your whole (great) itemization was gated behind it.

This time it's more integrated witht he narrative and ties in directly to the HoMM layer from some of the people that made HoMM in the first place.

because it looks boring as fuck, im already supposed to be fighting the cool and important demons in normal gameplay, I dont care what random mooks in my army are fighting

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
so how is this game compared to kingmaker? in KM i love the character builds and classes, itemization and exploring.

dislike the spam encounter design and the base building elements. are encounters more thoughtful or they still cram 1000 spiders in 100sqr meter dungeon? is the crusade thing better, or at least less intrusive than the kingdom thing?

You'll still like those and there's even more now.

The encounters feel more meaningful here... subjective opinion, my memories of Kingmaker are pretty far off now.

I think you would still hate the Crusade since it's the Kingdom + a poor man's HoMM right now, but I don't know if it's fair to judge it right now because it looks, feels and is very incomplete. That being said, unless their private build has a significantly different rebuild of the concept in this area, I think it's safe to say the final product will still be lacking in this department.

I dislike the minigames for a couple of reasons. Primarily, the crpg content is so good, I dislike being taken out of it for a different experience that doesn't have the same quality. Also, and most importantly, that content seems to exist in its own pocket universe which doesn't mesh well into the main story, or impact the crpg side in any meaningful way. I'd have rather taken the dev hours for the minigame content and rolled that into better reactivity throughout the main gameplay. Your mileage may vary.

It does indeed.

I consider the kingdom management mini-game the best addition that Owlcat Games made to the traditional CRPG's. This gives the feeling that a main character is actually a baron and not just a hobo with an title.

Ye well they should have made a kingdom management system that is more integrated with dialogues and story. The shit we got just feels like playing clash of clans

so do they actually follow the ruleset this time around like a barbarians dr should be useless late game when enemies have +5 weapons nor should it stack with other stuff.

I agree some system for kingdom management was needed. The one implemented is not it for me, and the ball was so sufficiently dropped that I'd rather not have it there at all.

It doesn't though. Kingdom management ties into the game's economy, the artisans and the kingdom's infrastructure affects how much you can rest. It also ties into the game's story in a number of ways. Rank-ups, curse research, the pitax war, the epilogues, everything makes use of the kingdom system. Without it you'd just be told that the kingdom is under threat from spiders. There would be no urgency about it. With it you receive reports that Irovetti is doing propaganda and sabotage all across the land, and have to counter both at management and the game proper. If you hate the gimmick just put it on auto.

Also, I consider some of the artisan's quests very memorable and neat vignettes. They are not as long and epic as the companion's quests, but they add nice small sketches to the life of the people of the River Kingdoms. Not all the people - only talented enough to draw attention of the current godfather - but still. Very cute.

Dead in Sixty Seconds Contest

Hello Crusaders!

Some of you have already finished the second beta, some even managed to do it a couple of times. And we got curious: who managed to gather the strongest party? Who is the deadliest and the fastest Commander? So we decided to start a little contest for people who love to go wild with their builds. We are hoping you like soft little Owlcats, because we are ready to part with our plushies to reward the most skilled gamers! Now welcome -

Dead in Sixty Seconds* contest

Please stop reading now if you don’t want any spoilers.

In this contest the deadliest and the fastest players win. The nominations are the following:

1 - The battle against Jeslyn in the end of chapter 1

2 - The battle against Minagho and Staunton in the end of chapter 2

3 - The battle against Darrazand in chapter 3

4 - The battle against Hepzamirah in chapter 4

5 - The highest AC before the battle against Hepzamirah in chapter 4

Rules:

  • difficulty level must be Core
  • you must play in the real time with pause mode
  • you must record the battle with the battle log visible and submit it without cuts. For the nomination #5 a screenshot and a save before the battle is enough
  • you must defeat the enemy as quickly as possible. Please keep this in mind when you will be using the pause. The only exception is the nomination #5 - we will judge the highest AC.
  • you must save your game-history.txt file after you finish recording and send it to us with your submission
  • make a save before the battle and send us the link to download it
  • no mods can be used. Cheaters will be added to the Wall of Shame and disqualified
  • mercenaries can’t be used at all, you can play solo or with the companions
  • Deadline: June the 30th, 0:00 Moscow time
How to submit your entry:

Email us to team@owlcatgames.com from the email your account on our site was created, with the subject “Dead in Sixty Seconds contest - nomination X”, where X is the number from 1 to 5, depending on which fight you are participating in. You can participate in multiple nominations, but if you show the highest results in more than 1 nomination, you will only get one prize, and another contestant will get the prize for another nomination.

Your submission must include:

1) subject “Dead in Sixty Seconds contest - nomination X”, where X is the nomination number

2) a link to the video of the fight. Please don’t send links to a whole stream, make a clip of the fight you want to show, starting with the rolling of the initiative and ending with the last enemy falling dead (or exploding). For nomination 5 please attach the screenshot of your AC with a tooltip to demonstrate how you got it.

3) a link to a saved game before the fight

4) game-history.txt file that was created during the fight you’ve recorded. If the file doesn’t match the video, your submission will be disqualified. The file is located at:
C:\Users\...\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Wrath Of The Righteous

If more than one contestant shows similar results, the winner will be selected by the jury of Owlcat Games members.

Prizes

We will reward the winners with our exclusive Owlcat plushie! Please be ready to provide your full name, address and a phone number for the delivery service. We will contact the winners after we process all the submissions.

*You don’t have to finish the boss fights in 60 seconds, it may take more or less time depending on your build. You will be competing with other players and their results.

I'm glad you enjoyed KM. I did put it on auto, and looked passed the gimmick for KM, as it was an ambitious, initial release of the game system. I was hoping for more out of WotR though.

My main issue is that I want the Kingdom/Army management to be played out in the world more. An example of what I mean is the NWN2 official campaign. As you made choices for your kingdom, you'd see those changes in the day to day game world. Your castle incrementally improved, your soldiers show weapon and armor upgrades, random encounters had patrols on the road, etc. It wasn't a great system, not even very good, but I use that example to show how the kingdom builder could be woven into the fabric of the world.

KM had a taste of that with the town improving slightly as it moved from "Town" to "City" status. I hoped WotR would have done much more, but with the release date being set, I think we're seeing what it is. I'll happily put it on auto again if it is. Sorry if my criticism was distressing.

I actually agree. The biggest choice in respects to your Kingdom's customization is alignment at the time of your baronation. That will be the Kingdom's alignment for the rest of the game and it affects how your city square looks. It's just not enough. I wish you'd see things like Arcanamirium mages or Alkenstar engineers walking in the capital, something to do with the Sevenarches x Kyonin diplomat plotline, something to do with the Gralton x Daggermark Guilds spymaster plotline and so on. At the very least I wish you could customize your Kingdom's banner and colors. Ideally the relationship between buildings, your kingdom's stat and rankups (which is your kingdom's actual power, not its stats per se) would be more direct as well.

Sorry if my criticism was distressing.
I mean, you're still wrong. The Kingdom management does not exist in a bubble. It stands to be improved, yes, but still not a bubble. It is part of the story, part of how you deal with time limits, part of your character progression and so on. Being a cunt about it doesn't change things.
