That was one shitty week. Actually managed to fix the fridge myself, got the piping leak seems under control, but I'm nonetheless keeping an eye on it just to be sure.
Good time for update, yes?
It is March 1943. Springtime. As you recall, last Winter we managed to capture Stalingrad.
A glorious victory it was, and the Fuhrer did shower us with medals.
Now, the city being nothing but a pile of rubble of questionable strategic importance, we ponder what to do next...
Unfortunately, we overextended ourselves in our valiant strike and the rest of the glorious Blitzkrieg has fallen behind.
The orders now are to evacuate the city.
Tough cookie. Moving 12 units is a lot. And we also need to keep Stalingrad in our hands for the entire operation.
The Fuhrer in his infinite wisdom, has left us reinforements: auxillary Grenadieren and a StuG.
Speaking of the StuG, we'll be doing some adjustments to our force.
Fuhrer has purchased the StuG armor DLC
Vaarne is anxious to check it out.
Our auxilliary troops are also fitted with the prototype.
I will use this as an opportunity to test some old-new shit.
This light artillery piece is visibly inferior stat-wise, to the haubitzen we're currently using. Mobility is lower, so is the range.
We'll see if the increased numbers (strength 15) and the 5 attack orders make up for it.
We'll also test the lighter PSW on Gondolin. It's got a bit higher strength, similar defence stats, and lower attack values than the 231 we've been using.
Doesn't seem to make much difference. Defence is the same, and recon units aren't well known for good offensive stats.
So we begin...
We are to relocate to the south-western corner of the map. Not too far away, but I predict heavy resistance along the way.
We most likely won't take many secondary objectives, apart from the two that lie directly on our way.
Stalingrad is to be held, which will be PITA, as we only have 4 ground units (at best) to spare to defend it.
We hold the airfiled to the north west, which is critical for maintaining luftwaffe support. We will concentrate our defenses there, and, if able, launch a counteroffensive to the north.
Soldaten, we may be leaving Staliing grad, but this does not mean the Communists can retake it just like that.
Carius, Serrated und Anus will remain on post and assisted by the auxiliary units will obliterate anything that gets near our positions.
Fallshirmjaeger stand by. You will remain at the ready, assisting the defending force for as long as its feasible. Then, you will paradrop as close to the objective as possible.
That auxilliary fucktard is blocking the airfiled. How can I be ready to paradrop then?
Well move that Arsch, willya?
The rest of the troops will then move southwards to the exit zone.
There are two secondary objectives on the way. Time of of the essence Soldaten, so we will take them only if time permits.
As always, intel comes fiirst.
Kommand, Luftwaffe ready to report situation to the south.
Northern secondary objective is lightly defended.
On the eastern flank we see an artillery piece, it is probably assisted by camouflaged units. Recon or infantry.
On the western flank we see an enemy column ready to assault our positions
Gut. Fighters, keep the skies clear for the main Kampfgruppe.
We need to cripple that assault first.
We have conducted a recon sweep to the south, Kommand.
Continue, Offiizer.
Heavy and light tanks spotted along the road to the objective. Possibly infantry hiding in the rubble.
I've scouted a bit further down. I see Kapitalisten panzer. Churchill and a M3A1
Having all the intel we need, we march forwards. Artillery is deployed and we wait for their move.
Whilst inspecting our auxiliary troops, we find that the aryan standards for officer recruitment have declined.
Times is tough indeed. Anyhoo, Offizer Wyrmlord shall bravely guard the ruins of stalingrad against stray recon tanks.
It doesn't feel right leaving like that. I mean, we paid with blood for every inch of that Scheisshole.
We could have sown some salt at least... and some napalm bombs, a few mines mebbie?
Enough of all this Angst und Schwanzlust. Let's do some damage to the Schweine!
Stukas in position.
Let 'er rip!
That's what I am talking about!
Gut. That assault is now crippled. We will lay an ambush along the way.
As we end the turn, I'll take this opportunity to review anus' new speciality.
Moar suppresion, eats up twice the ammo. Good thing Anus is a supply expert (and good thing towed arty has plenty of ammo to spare too). As you an see, Anus is ready for whatever - lightly entrenched and has the two defensive orders active - meaning he will provide support fire during, if my math is right, 6 enemy assualts (1 for the 1st commendation, 1 for unspent actions, 1 for plot artillery order and 3 more for accurate plotting order. Also, due to plot artillery and accurate plotting orders, these shots will be at extra strength).
Yeah, we're ready for whatever comes this way.
Stay tuned for enemy turn. I'm getting lots of codex errors right now, but hopefully DU get's this sorted out.
