Play Trails in the Sky 1. Short, focused, fun, with some mechanics differentiating it from others in the genre.

Yakuza 0 isn’t a JRPG, it’s a 3D beat ‘em up. It doesn’t become a JRPG until 2020’s Yakuza: Like a Dragon, up to that point the main Yakuza games were more like Sega’s yakuza themed take on River City Ransom/Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari.

Haven’t played the other game besides Lost Odyssey, but Lost Odyssey is good.

It’s not on that list, but if you haven’t played Skies of Arcadia Legends I’d say play Skies of Arcadia Legends. It’s not just one of the best JRPGs ever made, it’s one of the best games ever made.

Strap Yourselves In
There's no difference between mainline Yakuza and Like a Dragon aside from realtime VS turn-based combat.
If that's your criterion for what an RPG is, just pause the game between each punch thrown, lmao.
