Pirates Ahoy has a nice follow up interview with Alexander Shcherbakov of Akella about Pirates of the Caribbean. Here's the fun part, and it only gets more fun after this:

PA!: How did Sea Dogs 2 become POTC?

Akella: Oh, it's a long story. I'll tell you the short one. Disney liked our game, got in touch with Bethesda Softworks, and finally they came to us, saying that Sea Dogs II must be transformed into the Pirates of the Caribbean . It was a quite an experience, and we obtained more audience, but to tell the truth, most of the team hated the idea of this kind of metamorphosis. You know, the game was almost finished…

I can't say I was happy to hear about it myself. Not sure too many people were.

They mention Sea Dogs 2 later on in the interview. Sounds like they'll have a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT about it soon.

Didn't they already have their Big Annoucement? Like they're only going to release the game in Russia?

I picked up POTC for Xbox going really cheap. It's a decent game but you can tell it was rushed to market and the film tie-in was totally slapped on at the end. It's one of those games where you play it and think "Wow, this could have been awesome if the developers had been given another 3 months to finish it."

More proof Bethesda should never be allowed to involve with games ever again.
