Possible Valve's next game: Deadlock (rumors gaining traction)

It's going to be one of those games none of us here care about but that will still be highly profitable isn't it ?

Overwatch 2 is dead. Maybe this one will have better luck.
There is many people playtesting the game right now that say the game has pretty much nothing to do with overwatch besides the hero shooter part. Its all about dota/hon.

Normies will probably avoid and keep comparing it to OW, but there is plenty of moba autists out there (also paladins and smite fans) that will definetly play this when it releases.

Someone made a interesting edit of all the items you can buy in the shop, showing their equivalent to dota items (and some hero habilities).
Its pretty much a fact that this game is Icefrog's work on a different dota game on a new world setting but as a third person shooter.

I mean, people ended up shitting on Artifact quite a bit when they announced it. Wouldn't be surprised if people told Valve to shove it when they announce this.
But, the average joe doesn't care. He consumes.

Valve probably did a risk vs reward anaylsis, and determined that there is a market for a "better Overwatch" and that they're the ones that could pull it off. They do already have Team Fortress 2, but they view that as being not quite Overwatch enough, and it's running on an older engine that is more difficult to maintain. Perhaps the value of TF2 has also plateaud, and they would rather focus on a new game that could bring in more money for them. Deadlock just needs to be successful 'enough' to justify it's existence, and they will probably try to cater to Overwatch players who abandoned the game after 2017/2018.

If Apex Legends can be gigapozzed slop and continue on for years, I don't see why Deadlock couldn't either.

The last single-player game they made that wasn't tied to VR was Portal 2 way back in 2011. Every game they've made since has been multiplayer focused, and you can take a guess as to why.

Doesn’t play like overwatch, plays like Dota with TF2 in TPS. Strange mix but they nailed the core mechanics, the characters control smoothly and it’s fun to move around.

nobody wants to admit it but CS and TF2 were chat rooms first and competitive games second. that's why overwatch collapsed, it's a hugbox where every message has to get approved by the pope. deadlock would be good if it emphasizes community servers and custom content. the idea of a Monday Night Combat where you can customize your own server with different mods and plugins seems bulletproof

also it feels like deadlock should have just paid for the VTM license, you already can't tell the characters and art style apart

Hopefully someone here in the beta can provide us with information on whether there will be community servers or offline play. Or will Valve finally abandon their roots and go always-online in the name of "anti-cheat"...?
People unironically shilling this microtransaction platform disguised as a soy enema infused hero shooter clone.
Have you played it? Watched footage?

Im not the guy you asked but... All i can say is the game is fun and its not even out.
BUT im rather biased because I have:
-3k hours in Dota
-About 1k hours in LoL
-About 250~ hours in monday night combat
-About 200 hours in smite
Also played plenty of other multiplayer valve games, so im rather a valve fanboy.

Cant say more about the game, but you can just watch gameplay videos on youtube. There is plenty of videos there (most of them against bots tho, bots suck)
Edit: You can also check the cs.rin forum. If you know, you know.

Looks and feels nothing like VTM. It’s obviously inspired by Hellboy.
