To be clear, there is no evidence (yet) of this being a mobile game. HandyGames was a mobile publisher before this, but maybe their role is being changed after being acquired by THQ Nordic (which literally happened last month, so that's kind of weird).

I mean, if it looks like a duck, have feathers like a duck, swims like a duck and quaks like a duck, I'm betting on a duck not on a triple A 10/10 tactical game.

But at the end of the day, after crossfire, reloaded and back in action, is not that I am surprised at all.

One possibility is that it was originally going to be a mobile game (hence the weird graphics) but after taking over THQ Nordic now want to soup it up and make it a PC/console multiplatform game.

At this point i don't really expect a "full" new JAG game so a new one which is just entertaining would be ok.
I don't mind the graphic too much and the description does not look bad...except for only 2 mercenaries.
3 would have been fine for a simplified JAG experienced but 2 drastically reduce the strategic layer to make it more of a basic puzzle game.
Maybe not bad for the franchise to be alive in the hope a full game one day though or maybe it slowly kill further interest for it, hard to tell

I bet it was just a a generic mobile game but after being taken over THQ slapped Jagged Alliance on the game and told the team to add some references to previous games.

Another theory: this was being developed by Cliffhanger Productions before its bankruptcy (May 2015). THQ Nordic (then Nordic Games), who was the publisher of Cliffhanger's last game Shadowrun Online, bought the rights to this game (along with rights to JA Online and SR Online?) before or after their acquisition of JA IP (August 2015). Handy Games, requested by THQ Nordic, re-purposed the game, and now announced it as their publishing title.

I don't even have a problem with the art direction, though it sort of looks like a muddied mess that is hard to read without making an effort. Just render those scenes in parallel projection and it will already look 500% better.

This is easily one of the ugliest announcement trailers I have ever seen.

Worse than Underworld Ascendant in fact.

I would never in a million years be enticed to play this cartoon piece of shit, even if given a free copy.

This is... sad. Like an actor who used to be famous half a century ago trying to make a comeback and spitting his dentures out mid-performance.

Don't those guys do any market research before putting money into developing this? JA2 was a squad turn-based game and they just ignored the first half of its description... even the stupid announcement trailer on YT has more dislikes than likes and most of the comments are people complaining.

Why must they keep on raping that poor IP over and over again. Jagged Alliance in the hands of an actually competent developer and publisher would do just fine. But I guess it's too much to ask.
