I liked Daibanchou and would recommend it if you are looking for games roughly similar to Sengoku Rance. The depth of the story is more than sufficient for this kind of game. Game mechanics are absolutely okay and can be quite challenging during 1st play-through. Characters are plentiful and often have some accompanying events to flesh them out a bit more. Sengoku Rance and Daibanchou have a different gameplay focus, though, and in all honesty you cannot compare their mechanics too much.

I liked Daibanchou too, but the time limits are total bullshit.

Yeah. Especially when combined with the fact that you cannot clear all characters of a route due to the turn limit (actually, without a manual, I cleared only 1 or 2 characters during my 1st playthrough).
I guess they wanted to give people some incentives to replay the game a couple of times or something.

One of th main problem with BBA, is the fact that game expect you to replay it multiple times, but nor story, nor characters and nor gameplay are good enough to motivate for replaying. So they really should allowed player to see at least big part of content in one playthrough, not limit him by time or events, that could be triggered only by pure luck or using walkthrough. So Alicesoft really overestimated their abilities in that time.

I also find, that it very hard to continue the game after a long game. I stoped playing around turn 60 of the main chapter. And when I returned, I couldn't remember where I left my numerous characters. And information, that game gives you about progression of their event can't even be called useful.

Toushin Toshi II is translated already, seems quite fun. The game is freeware, not sure if I should link it?

Also after finishing Utawarerumono I can continue with Rance IV. I already made an update, I will try to keep a pace of 2-3 updates weekly.

I think it's actually canon. Characters from 4.1/4.2 appear in later games (e.g Genri was in 4.1 IIRC and appeared in Sengoku)

Strange. I remember reading on vg, that there should be major problems with emulating these games on modern PC. So consensus was that they will never be translated.

So in a major concidence and WTF news, there is going to be a remake of... Toshin Toshi 2...

For the 3DS.

What the hell, does that mean that in 10 years time, we'll see all-ages Rance for a Nintendo system?

"The adventures of the green platemail wearing warrior, all the women in the world belongs to him... for hugging and cuddling. Except lolis. Coming soon to the Nintendo 4DS!"

Alicesoft is in dire need of cash?

Yeah, it's always the same "Alicesoft is lacking cash and is about to be closed" talk. But somehow we get "Here is another game, just for shit and giggles".

I think Daiteikoku really hurt their cash reserves, but Rance still sells strongly and is cheap to make because of several reasons (such as no voice acting), so Alicesoft PROBABLY won't go out of business (in an era where a lot of eroge company are).

Still, don't expect to see another game as big as Sengoku anytime soon.

How am I going to source stuff on a porn game? Plus, I'm lazy.

What I know from internet forums is that it was originally intended to be an RTS and be much bigger than it currently, but at some point they completed re-did the game and turned it into a TBS game, and that it supposedly took 4 years to develop and consumed "3 Games worth of resources". The creator joked that it was because "if it was an RTS, it would take hundreds of hours to complete" but that's probably a lame cover up excuse. Maybe the RTS build really sucked or something

I doubt they will try anything like a big strategy game for a while, maybe when Rance X gets close they will release a proof of concept game with a new system (IF Rance X ends up being a remake of shorts of KRance).

I don't know which to be more disgusted over. Only being able to take women on dates and hug, or that Alicesoft is abandoning the PC master race.

So I tried TT2 and now I must choose between realizing captured monster or sell it. What the secong choice cost me?
Also the fact, that I must recapture monsters after each round is a bullshit, since the game couldn't disable them only for that fight.

I haven't done much of GalMonster capturing, but in TT1 selling them granted you Sin, not sure how the Sin stat works in TT2.

Problem, that I already sell two monsters as experiment, since first dungeon for some retarded reason didn't offer an option to free them. Only in the second one I see that option and became cautious about that. Hope I didn't screw my game very much by it. And I didn't even get any profit from doing that.
But I really want to keep that cake girl with me, because of free heals she creates . But now game force me to abadon her too, so I will need to recapture her again. Hope there isn't any disadvantages in capturing them aside of money loss.

Dunno, the only bad thing I can think of is Sin, an it's easy to lower. Unless you selll plenty of them and rape evryone you can I don't thin Sin will have any big effect.

So I'm stuck on TT2. Spoillers below:

Post tournament, lv30 of the dungeon I think. I killed the four things that must be killed at once and a structure rose with this big bad oni blocking a passage. He's too strong to defeat (hero even says so before fighting him) but I can't figure out how to get past him. Anyone there yet?

While on the subject of odd ways of making cash, you know where SNK gets all their money for making high quality fighting games? Hand-held games where you touch up schoolgirls and mobile dating sims. AliceSoft making a non-eroge for hand-helds is kind of a bizarro world version of that.

Apparently, in the new TT for 3DS the winner of each round gets to date the partner of the loser. Imagine how a serial dating Rance would work.
