Well, it depends of the collection. The DS games collection has better 3d background models, for example. Is not just a higher native resolution, the assets of the games themselves is what got changed. Konami didn''t screw it this time and they actually kept the code of the game and the assets, so they could make proper ports.

First time I hear about this, interesting
You have a proper source for this or is it just hearsay?

When the game was released some months ago a bunch of people started to check the game's files from the Steam version. They discovered that the games run in emulators at higher native resolution, but also that the ROMs of the games themselves were modified. It also included new data folders within each ROM.

A decomp could give us some crazy mod options. Any character in any game, custom areas, etc.

How many people here had sotn on the ps1 back in the day?

Absolute worst loading times on the ps1(at least among games I had lol). When you died it took like 10 minutes to get back into the game.
??? It wasn't anywhere close to that bad. The loading between areas was done in the time it took to walk across a single screen, hence the 'loading corridors' and when warping around you had the fancy animations hiding it instead.

There were MANY games with far more heinous loading in them, even among action games. Strategy stuff tended to be the worst. Even then, it wasn't nearly as bad as the PS2 era and beyond when sony decided 'fuck RAM' and everything needed 30 years to decompress the game any time something happened. If you want to experience the suffering of load times, try playing PSO. Die, load 5 seconds to the hub, realize you hadn't set a portal recently, warp to the previous floor, load 10 seconds, walk to next floor, load 10 more seconds, get to body, realize you need to buy potions, load 5 seconds to hub, warp back, load 10 more seconds, move 20 more feet and load some more for the boss arena.

Dying in sotn was like 2 loading screens, the cutscene and another loading screen in the menu
