EDIT: Well, some Codex Retards sure do get mad when someone points out that their popamole is fucking boring ass garbage.

I mean you're butthurt enough to edit this in when people clown you with ratings, soooo....

Yes, no doubt.
I'm working my way through Chapter 6 and the tale of Arthur and the gang of misfit desperados is a joy to experience. I rarely feel invested current AAA video game characters nowadays, but with this game I sure do.

Kinda wish Rockstar would at least try to pull of a serious GTA game. Their writing is way better when they don't try to force meme humor.

You consider the writing in Red Dead Redemption 2 to be decent or even good? The first 10 hours are real good, but it is pretty much shit after that.

In any case God of War is leaps and bounds better than Retard Redemption 2. Especially the combat.

EDIT: Well, some Codex Retards sure do get mad when someone points out that their popamole is fucking boring ass garbage.
Did you play the game at least? Because I found the first 10 hours absolutely boring, considering pretty much nothing happens, but late in the game (I'm currently in chapter 6) the game proposes something new which I never saw in another videogame. I won't spoil it here, but I think it's one of the best game I played this decade. And I:
-hate open-world games and GTA in general, only played GTAV and Vice City
-I do not play many AAA games

This doesn't mean the game has no issues, expecially in the first ten hours the pacing is very bad, there are annoying bugs which need to be patched, there are way too many collectibles and side activities (178 animals to skin AND study are way too many, considering studying some of them is a pain in the ass, like birds), but garbage? Not even close.

I think they leaned into serious crime drama with GTAIV a bit, at least it felt like that's what they were going for. The thing is they didn't pull it off like they have for both of the RDR games.
Personally, I think San Andreas was my favorite GTA entry and that game is fucking absurd. So who knows if they would be able to make a proper modern crime drama. I do hope it happens eventually though.

Wow is this the only place on the internet where some people actually don't think that this game is the second coming of jesus?
The game is very good, but like every games there are issues here too. I still find it one of the best story-driven experience I had in the past 10 years, but I still think Rockstar should rework a bit how missions work, there's is exactly zero freedom in the way you can complete those missions, and if you think out of the box you often result in failing the mission. Like there was this dude, I need to catch him with the rope, his horse was very fast, so I thought to kill the horse and catch him: I shoot the horse, the result was the dude died instantly, like he shared the same health bar of the horse, which is stupid.

Also I think Rockstar with those trophies wants to make fun of people who want to get the platinum/1000 on each game, because they are absolutely terrible: there's one trophy for 100% the game, but in order to do so you don't need to do everything, just achieve a certain percentage for each thing. And still there are other trophies demanding you to skin all animals, study all animals etc. The game is like 70 hours long, but by doing those things it becames 200 hours long easily. Plus the whole medal system, which is a pain in the ass since you don't know the requirements to get gold in a mission if not when you complete it, and most of them are not even skill based, it's just a matter of doing random stuff while in a mission. Luckily I don't care about trophies, I'm missing 7 missions and I'll wrap up the game until Red Dead Online ends, but I still think Rockstar should fill those games with way less collectibles, I think the fact there are trophies tied to clean this stuff and the amount of side, boring activities is just to push people to also buy the 30€ official guide, because there's no way a person is able to find all those collectibles alone.

The game has trophies for collecting every type of animal loot which is basically the same grinding shit as getting every kind of loot in jRPGs but when cockstar does it then people say it's cool and it's more content in the game. Great fucking content, trying to get good quality squirrel skin for an hour. This is what jewish marketing does to people.

I think the appeal of the game is less of the cookie cutter extra content, and more of that "hand crafted world" element, coupled with the narrative.
I've seen no reasonable people argue that checkbox challenges or collectibles are some big Rockstar innovation. Then at the same time, I think you would be hard pressed to deny that the game has a staggering amount of detail and love put into it. Much of which won't even be seen over an average completion.

On an unrelated note, I just finished the game and while I do think the story was enjoyable overall, it needed to be about 35% shorter. I was ready for it to wrap up.

Completed the game just now, with a total completion of 88.7%, and it will stay the same because I have no intention to waste time on hunting animals, fishing fishes or completing challenges which are here, as I wrote, just to give people their quota of checklists to furfill. I'm totally statisfied with what I got, even if what I got wasn't always so polished. I had a bug today in which the audio totally disappeared from a cutscene, another bug in which the next cutscene didn't trigger, but in my whole playthrough I was forced to restart from a checkpoint (aka kill a npc needed for the mission or yourself) only two times, and the bugs I got were very minor things.

Still, a patch to fix those issues is needed and I do not understand why Rockstar didn't release at least an hotfix for the missing npc bug which plagued a lot of players. I know they want probably launch RDO and at the same time release a patch to fix the sp, but some things are just annoying. I do not understand why in 2018 there's not an option to restart from a checkpoint, and to do that you need to kill yourself or someone else, it's very stupid.

Couldn't agree more with this. It's especially annoying when I fuck up stealth or some sort of optional objective, and the only way to retry is to let some Army man beat me to death.

Well basically the game main story is just a setup to the breakup of Dutch's Band and John falling out with it but since that isnt really much to go with that you just end up with a stretched campaign with somewhat disjointed stories as there is simply not enough material for that, also it have the *slight* side-effect of making Dutch being a incompetent leader because robberies tend to play out as GTA V Heists if you picked every wrong option, might make then exciting to play but since the end up going all wrong kinda hard to understand why following such a screw up in the first place.
I assumed that was the point. Dutch talked about a spy, and a rat, but 9 times out of ten, the constant failures were due to poor planning, lack of knowledge of the target location and the gang being out of its depth in the new world with civilization able to react to their actions far quicker than before. On top of that he would constantly talk about "laying low" and avoiding trouble until they find their big score but no one ever did, not even dutch, as evidenced by the fact that you
Fucking murder Bronte right before doing a massive heist on a city bank, because somehow this won't alert every single law enforcement agent in the city that you're around and about to do something?
. RDR2 was about Dutchs incompetence and growing insanity as the world changed around him and how he lacked the talent and abilities to overcome it. Or perhaps just the patience and right decisions.

Dutch had more of a 'cult leader' vibe to him ever since the first game, so it's no suprise he's a criminal idiot.

I love spooky things

There's a completely fan theory running that states the existence of a secret ending of the game. Where

Arthur lives and, maybe in exchange, John and his family dies instead of him

All related with that weird cabin and the character known as "The strange man" from the first game (Who is presumably the death/grim reaper).

Did you play RDO? I still can't access it but I read nothing but grind reports. If I don't give a fuck about cosmetic items I'm still able to proceed with the main missions or there's a barrier here and I need to grind for gold bars in order to pass it?
