Incredibly shitty voice-over. Shitty generic fantasy setting. Eye-rapingly shitty WoW art style. shitty blobber combat.

Great. Thanks, Ubi. :killit: But no thanks.

You're right on all points but it's not like there's a lot of alternatives coming out in the near future

Actually I suspect that if WoW-style graphics had been possible in the early 90s, M&M would probably have had them.

You could be on to something there.

Grimrock 2 looks more akin to Dungeon Master 2, if we're going by mechanics and what we know about it so far. MMX visually looks similar, but I think that's about where the similarities end. It does seem like they intentionally went for a similar look and feel, though. I think it goes without saying that the mechanics and world of MMX will be far more expansive than Grimrock 2.

SHITTY VOICE ACTING AND BAD GRAPHICS I'M OUT

I too lament the fact that the worldclass voice acting of the old games won't return. Also I know it comes as a surprise that an M&M sequal has blobber combat, but look at all the pretty lights, man.

A grid-based map does not require forcing only 90 degree turns. Thanks for the link, Infinitron.

Just saw this:

I get why the don't want to just bend over and take it up the ass from Steam but I've always thought two layers of DRM -- especially when they're online/platform varieties -- was laughable overkill.

And even more especially when some kids from the internet are going to crack them in three days tops, anyway. I wonder if these guys are making a token effort to justify their jobs or if they genuinely don't know the "MOAR DRM!!!" strategy doesn't work.

DRM isn't an anti-piracy measure. It's a tool to allow content-providers control over software and hardware providers.

Pirates pirate. Non-pirates buy. DRM allows control with non-pirate copies and ensures, among other things, multiple purchases and regulation in cases of multiple users (such as software/hardware used in education).

It's no wonder DRM screws only the legitimate users. That's more or less the only reason it exists.

This.

In the meantime I'll be waiting for the next AAA party-based turn-based rpg with good voice overs, an original setting, excellent art style and impressive tactical isometric combat.

Isn't that a distorted Lord Xeen laugh at the end?
