Great read, sadly didn't see it earlier, couldn't access the site for some reason.

I've been trying to get DU to switch the site and forum layouts to fixed width for exactly this reason some time ago. It's not by accident that most sites out there have fixed width layouts.
And he did try it for a short while. But I told DU that fixed width is complete shit so he changed it back. :troll:
I browse with my browser window arranged just so that it's comfortable to read. Fixed width forces a format on me while fluid width (or whatever it's called) allows me to scale the codex to my level (sic).
So the way it is, people with at least half a brain adjust their reading experience to their preferences while full-window morons whine about formatting issues.
The way it should be M:

Are you implying that our wise ruler takes orders from you?

This can't be true, can it, DarkUnderlord? You taking orders from a lowly peasant? Ludicrous (and a huge indiscretion from Shannow if true)!

Surely a demonstration of your independence from Shannow's corrupting influence is in order? Watchschwitz is nice this time of year... :fight:

No.
Are you suggesting DU is too dumb to realize good advice and act upon it when he sees it?

"Indiscretion"? Do you even know what the word means?

I'm sure DU will act upon your subtle suggestions or not. But perhaps not in the way you hoped...

That whole passive-aggressive-gay-fag-DU-cock-sucking attack was kinda weird. I thought some newfag BSN moron might still have his "call mommy the admin for help because I lack arguments" ingrained in him. Then I see a 2006 registration... Ok, we had 2010ers in 2006 too. Then I see the name... Oh, the guy who's too stupid to put his browser into windowed mode for comfortable reading. Never mind. Nothing to see here. :troll:

Obviously, if he thinks your advice is good to act upon (this is not a joke).

"Indiscretion"? Do you even know what the word means?
Yes and yes. Do you? Think about it some more, I'm sure you'll get it. Eventually... Well, maybe not (this is not a joke, you really are stupid).

I'm sure DU will act upon your subtle suggestions or not. But perhaps not in the way you hoped...
It's time he listens to some sound advice, instead of consulting complete morons like you. I guess that means we'll both be hanging out at Watchschwitz for awhile (this is a joke).

It was a joke, not that a witless fag like you would get it (I've dumbed it down for you by adding very informative brackets). BSN and date of registration in the same sentence? That's so passe. You aren't keeping up with the trends (this is a joke).

My browser is windowed. That doesn't make your "suggestion" any less retarded. Would you suggest pivoting the monitor if the text wasn't horizontally oriented?

I'm curious, where did you get your insight in text formatting and typesetting from? What makes you qualified to give such retarded advice? I have a feeling some lulz will be had upon revealing that information (if you don't weasel out of it).

Brilliant logic. I'm sure there's a huge market out there for "people with at least half a brain" who don't want their wheelie chairs to have a fixed height setting either and would prefer to have to pump them up to their height every single time they sit down.

The way it should be :retarded:

So... You're basically saying the gaming media is welfare for video game fans?
Exactly, and there a many more professions like that in the gaming world; think of all the countless "community managers" like Chris Priestly, MMO GMs, playtesters... how they drone jobs and still are proud of working with games. Gaming journalism is just a louder bunch.

I know a guy that works at LevelUp games, a huge MMO company here in Brasil. He says that a lot of the employees are just blind fans with no experience, or worse, graduated from game university, that want to "work with games" and get banal shit boring jobs at mediocre pays.... AND ARE HAPPY WITH THAT.
possibly worth noting that the same company had an incident with corrupt GMs selling game shit for money IRL

and yes, the company is shit as well, their call center didn't even work right years ago and they also didn't have GMs actively monitoring their games, even after some competition finally showed up and started doing it

I have seen much of the rest of game journalism. It is popamole and shills and farce. RPGCodex is the light!

Surprised this thread has generated so many pages. No offense to our esteemed colleagues but 'game journalism' is a joke of a 'profession' that ranks down there with the political pundits who analyze elections on CNN/Fox and jocks who comment on sporting events. It's just noise. If I want a serious opinion on a game I can just read these forums. It doesn't take any kind of specialized knowledge to review video games. The whole industry is a farce.

The formatting does pain me when reading. It's a valid complaint.
It's the only negative thing about this article though. Well written, but the extra - extra page width made my eye lose focus on which line I'm reading at times.

Half the pages were bitching about the formatting.

Still, the huge amount of attention this is getting could be because of how most games journalists have behaved, attempting to portray themselves as fair and balanced and the sole voice of reason in an elitist gaming world, while furiously sucking corporate dick on the side. I'm guessing that there are more people that didn't realize this before the expose (gaming rags A, B and C say Fallout 3 is the bee's knees, you are WRONG and a HATER) than those that already knew how deeply the 'games journalism' industry is in bed with the publishers.

I wonder out of sheer curiosity, is neoGAF as blacklisted by AAA Publishers and Developers like the Codex is?

I doubt it -- neoGAF is full of consoletards. As I mentioned in another thread: there are PC gamers and there are console gamers who play console games on PC for better graphics.

That was not the question I asked though.

We have jRPG fags as well as retards that play Skyrim (See the STEAM Codex Diversity Squad, of which I was thankfully banned from, because I sure as hell will never play that Skyrim shit).

Every single one of the hundreds of hours of Skyrim played on CDS comes from a single member. The game most people have been playing together recently is UT 99.

Basically, what I mean to say is YOU BETTER DELETE THAT POST AND APOLOGIZE RIGHT NOW, FAGGOT, OR CDS IS SUING YOU FOR LIBEL!
