If there are infinite dimensions, why should I care about the fate of a particular one?

Zing we have a winner. By having infinite dimensions, the actions of killing or saving anyone doesn't matter, since somewhere else that same person will always exist no matter what.

Not only that, but if you're killing someone off to prevent a future bad version that branches off, you're also killing off the branches that cure cancer and bring harmony to the world. On top of that, with infinite universes _everyone_ is going to have a branch where they turn even and kidnap that chick (and a branch where they cure cancer or jump in front of Booker before he dies to explain how idiotic it is). There's no particular reason to think the main character is particularly good/evil in that regard, other than the fact that he's one of the good branches.

But sacrifice and vulgar symbolism needs to be shoehorned into everything.
