Regarding "deconstruction", it truly felt to me like utter lack of imagination more than skillful use of tropes. Not the "hah, I recognize what the guy is doing" but more like "uhn, this is cringeworthy in its lack of subletly and creativity". Like the trash American comics&movies that throw out GRITTY REBOOTS OF FAIRY TALES FOR HARDCORE AUDIENCES. Likewise for being "mature", Sapkowski reads like YA literature (and probably is) and I can barely remember any adult detail regarding his stories. Maybe they were so irrelevant to be quickly forgotten.

We live in the days when Game of Thrones is the most popular tv series evar, millions of normie bitches are rubbing themselves to 50 shades of lite BDSM pron, and the books for 5 years old wouldn't be out of place in the Warhammer 40k universe (particularly the Slaaneshi-controlled parts of it), so I guess the grimdark wore off its novelty. The contract should've taken into account the possibility of rev shares IF they make a shit ton of money. But neither them, nor he thought it was in the realm of possibility. Had he asked for rev shares if they make $25 million, they would've signed it too. Nobody would've been against it at that point, so he's not being unreasonable either.

Both sides did the right thing, and both sides signed an incomplete contract. And the law allows it to be rectified. Nothing wrong is happening here. The only butthurt people (you) are people who've got nothing to do with this.

Sure they are irrelevant to every non-native speaker. And so are authors of every single nationality whose books aren't translated into a language a given person can read. Which means that vast majority of books written everywhere in the World are irrelevant because usually only a small % of books is being translated into foreign languages. English authors are in a bit better position because English is so popular as foreign language and also English is the dominant World culture so it's more popular by definition. But how many contemporary non-english authors of any nationality that isn't your own do you know? Exactly.

Also, as I wrote in a previous post, at least Dukaj actually has one (or more?) book translated into English and available in electronic format, but this is the one I haven't read so can't say if it's representative of his work (which is usually high quality).

Sapkowski is a cock, but people acting like they're smart when speaking with almost 2 decades of hindsight are hilarious.

Regarding his books - they don't really hold up today (though pretending that the writing in the games does in comparison is pure prosper), but back in the early nineties the early witcher books were a very fun read for late teens/young adults. That's all they are and there's nothing wrong about it.
