Decided to play a round of AoW I, AoW:SM and AoW III. They are all pretty good gameplay wise, but I still enjoy the audio and visuals from AoW I the most. AoW:SM and AoW III are just too busy and the 3D is harder to parse than the tidy graphics of the first title. The overland map also looks like a hodge-podge in AoW III and unnatural in places where different climate tiles meet. I miss games that look like AoW 1, HoMM2/3 and Disciples 2.

Was hunting this deer for dinner, shot it, chased it down, and noticed that it had phased itself through physical matter and remained half-submerged in a chopped down tree log. The deer was no longer interact-able, so this time traveling deer escaped the clutches of my venison seeking hunger.

On my replay list.
This and its sequel - Elite Force 2.
Great games.
I replay them every few years, because there are no modern games with this kind of game design anymore: mission > central hub > mission > central hub etc. With an interesting cast of characters and each mission being set in a different environment/biome. I guess that's too expensive for modern developers. Games like Jedi Outcast/Academy, NOLF 1/2, Elite Force 1/2, Soldier of Fortune 1/2, Deus Ex etc. provide that experience, and still hold up incredibly well. Thief 1/2/3 as well. Modern games pale in comparison in that regard.

Virtual Voyager mode is so cool.
I wish they had a similar mode in Elite Force 2, as you only get to explore some of the ship and talk to people in between missions.

I assume that this is a difficulty select.

By the way, this game was made by a single japanese person with an interest in that genre of hentai which involves cute animu girls getting horrifically dismembered or mutilated.
Just wanted to mention this.

Most of my deaths so far were from trying to perform this jump.

This game has no quick saving by design as i understand it. Took me a bit of time to get used to this.

Rifle alt-fire is pretty strong.

This is how the level exit looks like here.
