I was just testing out some new rendering/lighting techniques

Can you recommend me free screenshot app, that does png, tif output? :(
MSI Afterburner is a good free alternative to FRAPS, as it does video recording too. It's a bit more complex though as it's first and foremost for overclocking vid cards but offers many more options.

There's also Open source Broadcasting System. It's designed mainly for streaming, but also does recording.

Is Outlast worth to play? Mind you the only horror game I'm not resistant to is Silent Hill and a lesser degree COC: Dark Corners of the Earth, all the others (including Amnesia) don't really scare me.

Looks like bilinear filtering with monitor scaling on top
Yeah, it does look like that. Bilinear filtering seriously looks terrible, it's the first thing I disable in every emulator. For DOSBox, normal2x or 3x scaler looks best at desktop res with aspect ratio locked. That way it stays sharp and all the glorious pixels are there to behold. Afterburner automatically removes the sidebars too unlike FRAPS, so you get clean 1440x1080 (1439 sometimes) shots when using a 1080p resolution.

dannyfx1's screens are probably more authentic to the old-school CRT experience. People seem to forget that CRTs back in the day would usually blur the hell out of the pixels. The way we see them with emulators now, with pristine chunky pixels is not how it was back then (before LCDs).

But bilinear filtering / GPU scaling doesn't quite do it right either. Hasn't anyone figured out an authentic looking CRT emulation yet?

Co-oping "Lord of the Rings: War in the North" with my brother:

Yeah, we should totally go with you Aragorn!

He replies something like "Dude, I would totally let you go, but Gandalf gets angry when he's contradicted, so we'll just take the Fellowship guys, k'?". Quite awkward moment.

Oh, poor Arwen... what have they done to you?

But to be fair, Arwen apart, the rest of the sceneries and characters are quite well done.

THIS IS RETARDED! Me and my brother spend like 2 hours trying to beat this bonus level, surviving 20 really challenging waves, and when we finally win.... there's nothing. No chest, loot, gold, achievement, pat in the back... just that "Final Wave Completed!" text.... what a letdown.

I wanted to like that game as an easy-going hack 'n' slash, but it's just not good. Graphics are nice to look at and it has a decent visceral feel to it, but it's soooo mehhhhhhhhhhhhh..

That game does actually play a lot better with a controller than the keyboard. The game isn't much fun, though.
