This is actually an allusion to Morrowind's Sheogorath Shrine Quest, where you had to kill a Giant Netch with the Fork Of Horripilation.

I found the Fork of Horripilation lying around in a camp somewhere in Shivering Isles. It just lay there without any meaning to it. It didn't even trigger a quest when I picked it up. So now Bethesda even include items from previous games without putting any reason behind it. Dumb.

There is actually a quest related to it- In Bliss, Big head says he lost the fork (in the usual manic drivel) if you bring it back to him, he can tell you a "Secret" about some skills.

He sometimes dies though, as he has a habit of occasionally thieving.

If I remember correctly, there's a quest in Shivering Isles where a guy wants you to help him kill himself. Yeah. Totally not related to the guy who wanted you to help kill himself in Morrowind.
You mean in Bloodmoon? Where that old Dunmer wanted you to kill him in a fight?

Other than the common objective, I saw little correlation.

Wasn't it a Nord, so he could get into Valhalla (or Sovngarde, or whatever it was they called it)?
Oh yeah, there's that one too.

Either way, they aren't particularly related to each other
