rpgwatch? What are they liking about this, specifically? I can't see any remarkable feature about this game.

Check back early next week for a massive interview on Shroud of the Avatar’s episodic structure, the game’s story and world, the lack of an endgame, why this isn’t an Ultima title, EA’s own Ultima IV successor, and the trans-dimensional Lord British family tree.

On Rock Paper Shotgun. No ending, not Ultima... An endless experience of a new vision of what (not M) MOs would have been like if.... Er... Something or other. With episodes, not massively multi-player but without an ending (what happens at the end of the last episode?) I am confused and it is late.

GUYS! GUYS! GUYS! What if... I mean this is off topic, but what if somebody can convince Brian Reynolds to do an Alpha Centauri Kickstarter? GUYS! Somebody needs to contact him ASAP. That could rival all the proceeds so far.

I would settle with a Master of Orion type game. Although, I guess Sword of the Stars series fits that niche.

I'm out as far as considering a pledge. I don't even understand the point even if the game interested me. It looks like it's F2P with micro transactions all on top of only getting 1/5th of the game to start out. You'd still have to buy the 4 planned expansions plus micro transactions for your house or whatever. Why would I pledge 40 bucks for a free game that's going to nickel and dime me regardless of me pledging at the normal people levels? Even if the game sounded like heaven to you, it would still make more sense to just wait for the finished product before trying it out.

Am I missing something?

Yeah, I'm too annoyed to search for it to C&P. He's calling them episodes instead of expansions. I guess kudos for being honest, but Garriott is saying that the initial gameworld will be small but quickly expand with each episode. I don't get why you get a digital copy of the first "episode" with your pledge if it's F2P anyways. There are kickstarter that have a ton of good info, ones that give you no info and than there's Shroud of Avatar that tells you a ton of confusing and conflicting info.

At least I didn't get into computer gaming until the late 90's. The only Ultima game I played at that time was Ultima 9 and that was a copy from a guy in the dorm was at, because the only computers that could run the thing had to have the voodoo 3 card that launched at the same time as the game.

EDIT: i meant to say that I am not butthurt over this because I never had a good Ultima experience. (and I am a dirty noob) :P
